WIW: Black & Blue

Yesterday and today have been unexpectedly chilly so it's giving me the opportunity to wear a few things I haven't worn for a while - like my blue vintage blazer. I've paired the blazer with my Gap black trousers and my white/black/blue animal print flowy blouse. I stuck with my black and white handbag (I've used this handbag three days in a row - unheard of for me - lol!) and gold oversized watch to go with the gold buttons on the jacket.

So what do you think? Do these colours and proportions work? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

I love the look ... You look so shopisticated :)... I love how you rock the blazer

Shannon you are a legend! Firstly I just love this outfit. So streamlined and modern... effortless chic. Secondly I have recently been a given a purple blazer kind of similar. Mine is not vintage, but has that unstructured Chanel type cardigan / blazer vibe (I can see your jacket has more structure but it's the overall look). I finally worked out how to wear it and it's a similar combination to your outfit today! Seeing you in this has confirmed for me I am on the right track. Woops sorry for making this about me, but you have inspired and encouraged me.. thank you.

This is actually one of my favorite looks on you Shannon. The blue and the black together is just gorgeous. What leg are the trousers, they look like a wide or bootcut?

Thanks Ramya, Deborah, Suz and Harmonica!

I've felt a little "out of sorts" with my style the last few weeks. I find summer harder to dress for because structure is such a huge part of my rubric and that is more difficult in warmer months. Blazers are probably one of THE most important items in my wardrobe. Today I felt like ME again - not only do I have my structure with the blazer but I have my vintage (another part of my rubric) which I've been missing lately as well.

Deborah - these Gap trousers are labeled as straight leg but I think they border on wider, which is fine by me. These are their summer weight dress trousers and I love them.

    Gorgeous!

Will you send some of that cool weather down here, please?

This is really nice Shannon. I like the blue and black together and I like the print of your top too! I'm glad you're feeling more like you with the return of cooler weather and your beloved blazers. :)

Yay, I love your blazer outfits. You do rock dresses, but I love you in trousers and blazers more!

Interesting comment Ceit - you like trousers and blazers on me more? May I ask why, if you don't mind?

I love the combination of blue and black and think this whole outfit looks fabulous.

I think it is just because it aligns more with my personal preferences. I admire someone wearing a dress, but it is like looking at pretty flowers, but a trouser outfit has a little more zing for me, because I can more easily see myself wearing it? I don't know, my brain hasn't woken up this morning yet.

I am just more on team trousers I think! And I am a lifetime member of Team Blazer.

I certainly like the color combination here. The porportions work very well and you look fab.
I have some GAP perfect bootcut that are more straight leg for me so I guess it kind of depends on the shape of our legs and hips(btw I love my GAP bootcuts)

Now that Ceit talked about it it is true that you do a blazer/pants combo perfectly.I don't have any explanation for it, you simply do it perfectly.
