Fantastic Shannon! Very "hip". :). Love the red accents.
And I can't believe it's warm enough there for bare feet and Birks!!! I'm in booties...

Fabulous outfit. I have horrible feet too and have to find shoes that will take my orthopedic insoles. Except for my birkies, they are sooo comfy :)

Yay! I lurves this one, Shannon! One of my all-time faves, which is saying a lot because I like them all so much. You look so happy. Hip and comfy, too. Hope you have a super day. P.S. I just pulled the trigger on white patent Birks. Too bad I couldn't find the polka dots; I wouldn't have minded being your twin.

We're back from the consult (which went well - surgery on May 29th) and did some shopping in a funky little store right downtown. I found it interesting that a mere year or two ago, there is no way DS would be caught with me in the same store, let alone both buy something from the same store. Heaven forbid! But now at 18 he's coming around to the fact that parents are human beings after all - lol! - and we had a blast in this little store showing each other stuff. Most of it is geared towards the younger generation but I did buy a beautiful soft blue/blush/white drape tank that will work beautifully for casual and work wear under a blazer (pic #1), as well as a pair of "cinnamon pink" Vans for summer casual (pic #2). DS bought two fabulous tee's from a brand he really likes and until now, had to order online. When I asked the young male SA if I could try on the tank, he kind of looked at me and so I said "I take it you don't get a lot of the 50 plus crowd trying on your stuff?" and he oh so politely said "not so much, but it's kinda cool you're going to".
My Birkies were amazing for walking downtown since we weren't parked anywhere near where we had to go. Oh please….let the Birks trend continue for a while :) :) :)
Thanks for your kind comments on the outfit - I felt like a stylish casual MOTG.

Your wee little boy is a fine stylish young man! I love his shoes and Jeans and I think I want them. Lol!
And that top is lovely! The vans look uber comfy and sleek. I am eyeing some myself! Great finds and a lovely story behind it :). You go stylish mum!

You are a super stylish MOTG! (Good thing I just re-read that, I originally typed MOTH, not MOTG! HA!) Now back to the serious stuff…Birks with little dots on them! How fabulous - I love that. And that mixed media jacket is gorgeous. Here it comes…wait for it…THIS IS ANOTHER FAVORITE OUTFIT!

Were those Birks custom made for you? Amazing. And hooray for a mother-son day.
-
Transcona Shannon replied 10 years ago
Thanks all :) Both for the outfit love and the well wishes for DS.
Katie - the Birks feel AMAZING! Truly. But not the soft foot bed version. They have both a 2 degree soft bed and a 4 degree hard bed. The soft one felt "off" but the hard version is incredible. The metatarsal support in it is higher and harder, which works unbelievably well with my high arch foot. And the metatarsal support is actually recommended for anyone with bunions as it forces the toes apart a bit which relieves the bunion pressure. Brilliant!
Sveta - it wasn't super warm today (I think we reached +15) but my feet have a high tolerance for the cold so it was all good.
