WIW: White & Floral

Hmmm…I love this floral moto with its smoky and moody colours paired with crisp optic white. But I'm never sure what colour of top to put on with those two items. Today I'm trying my sparkly navy pullover.

I started the outfit with my TR Brianna BF white jeans. I haven't worn these ones for a while and forgot how comfy they are. I've paired the jeans with my sparkly navy knit with the hi-low hemline, and then topped that with my CM floral moto. I added my cream cut out oxfords and large cream handbag and then finished off the outfit with my black/white specs and bright pink lipstick.

Does this work? Does the navy top pair with the moto and white jeans ok? What colour top would work better? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

ETA: I realize I haven't got the hem of the jeans right - roll one more to be BF style, or uncuff to be scrunched full length?

Moto jacket: Club Monaco
Pullover: Laura Petites
Jeans: True Religion
Oxfords: Dolce Vita
Handbag: Danier Leather

Awesome outfit Shannon. I think the navy looks great with the white jeans and the floral jacket. You look very " Springy"

I love those TR Brianna's! I have an aqua, summer weight pair and I can't wait for warmer weather so I can start wearing them again. They are my favorite summer jean.
White and navy is one of my favorite combinations, and I think it looks fantastic with your floral moto. Those cream oxfords are beautiful.

I think this is lovely and I just adore that jacket. It makes me wish my black and white floral blazer was actually a moto style jacket :)

I like the pairings here tho, I must admit I am kind of wanting to see something lighter on your top half. Not necessarily the top but you know even something very simple like pearl studs would look fab.

Thanks for the feedback ladies - BTW I have uncuffed the jeans and am wearing them full length with some scrunch. Much better IMHO.

Deb - I hear you on something lighter in the top half. I don't wear earrings anymore so pearl studs are out I'm afraid. I was thinking a taupe drapey top would work better than the navy - it would lighten the top half and pull out the taupe shade in the jacket. Of course, that would mean I need to buy a taupe top...

I like it the way it is. The white florals on the jacket balance out the white on the bottom IMO. But I usually like high contrast outfits. And I wear it myself. So my views could be skewed.

You could also try a citron top with this jacket. Or silver gray?

The pants worn full length with scrunch would be perfect I am sure. YLF!

Oh, just go buy the taupe top. :) But you knew I would say that.

it's a great outfit as is, and will be great with taupe, grey, white, or pink tops, too!

Nice! I like the different shades of white too. Great jacket!

I really like this as-is.  I love those shoes.  I had just about decided to give up on oxfords bc they are just not feminine enough for me then you go and show me these...

I really like this, especially the bone shoes with the white jeans and the fantastic jacket!

A blush top would be on trend. I like it with navy and I'd like any of the jewel tones too. Or a white top for a column of color. I think about any color would work though.

Shannon, I like you outfit as is, but I like other's suggestions for taupe, pink, grey or white too. It's a fab jacket and I'm glad you unrolled the jeans as I would have suggested that too :). I think you look great!

  • Joy replied 9 years ago

Like Shedev, my first thought was a blush top under the jacket.  I think the navy works though.  Oh!  how about your silvery EF top?  I would those oxfords if they were my size.

I like this because it is a pure Shannon look and a great formula for you. I'll bet the sparkle in your top really peps things up. I want my monitor to show sparkles better.

I long for a little more color. However, I ooze color out of my pores so consider the source! I'm thinking pink.

In fact, remember those old b/w photos where the lips, cheeks, and eyes were tinted? Can you take a not-too-bright dye pen to some of those jacket flowers to create a tinted b/w feel? Totally riffing here, not seriously expecting you to dye your clothes.

Yes to unrolled jeans, although for out of the office, a second roll would do nicely.

I love the idea of citron, cobalt, and blush for a topper.  I can't see the navy well in the monitor, but the sparkle idea is a great one.  What about your EF grey sparkle top from yesterday?

  • Thistle replied 9 years ago

Fabulous and lovely. The top looks black on my monitor, so it does seem a bit heavy for a spring outfit. Still looks fab.

I like the idea of taupe or blush as has been mentioned, or maybe a column of color as in all white.

The floral moto looks GREAT with the sparkly navy pullover. And the unrolled jeans version - I'm sure - looks just as fab.

Fun to see you wear white jeans again. I love this killer floral moto on you. Have you tried it with your striped skirt?

  • Aida replied 9 years ago

The navy definitely works very well, and sparkles add a good extra bit of fun! I was going to vote full length pants, or thin the roll up a bit and let it drape over your shoes. As for other colors, Shannon the jacket is black and white! Any color :D More muted shades would look especially good because there is a fair amount of gray in the print.

I love the floral moto and like the suggestions for blush, taupe and other muted colors.  Jewel tones would probably look good as well.  I'm getting over my aversion to navy but I don't think that would have been my first choice to go with your moto.
