Vests for spring?

Vests in the last year have come into their own as a fashion and style item IMHO. They are the spring and summer version of a blazer I guess. My questions are:

  • Are they still trending for 2015?
  • Could you see a vest as part of my style - say over one of my dresses?
  • What do you think of the styles below? (Angie - I believe the white EF one was a pick of yours and there are a few Fabbers that have this vest)

    Yes and yes.

Not sure #2 is short enough for you - long stance. And #1 might look blocky when zipped up.

I have that EF vest. It is long-ish on me and I am 5'4"

Thanks for your reply Angie :) I really think I'd like to add a vest to my spring/summer wardrobe. I remember your ensemble post about vests over a sleeveless top and like that idea as well.

#2 (the white EF version) does come in petite. Still too long for my short torso you think?

And I do hear you about #1 - would you think it could work unzipped?BTW it is also an EF piece.

Oooh! I love #1. Very cool indeed!

I think the second one would be worth a try, in petite. I really like that one! Not so sure about #1...

I got #2 on sale last fall but too late to wear it. Ireally hope to be able to make it work but it is very long. I love the stone color as softer than optic white but not as yellow as cream. I love a vest with a sleeveless top for hot weather.

Here's the Blog post Shannon mentioned, for the rest of us considering the possibilities... http://youlookfab.com/2014/08/.....with-vest/

I'm loving the look of vests for spring.  Hopefully some petite friendly options pop up.  I tried on a few last spring and some of them swallow me up.

Yes I hope they are still in. I have t worn my black Zara one for ages but I'm thinking it will come out as summer starts to cool to Autumn. I added a white one not so long ago. I like the look over dresses. And both of those are great. My preferences are me for a modern look or something a little edgy and interesting.

Funny, I was just thinking about posting to ask for recommendations on how to wear a vest I have. It's nothing like either of these, but fun to know there is a surge toward them in fashion trends :)

I hope so, because I've only just found one passable...

Shannon, I have a vest similar to #1 (although your find is WAY more interesting)! I guess the drape will depend on the fabric content, but here's what mine looks like unzipped.
