This would be adorable with a denim jean jacket. I don't have one but the dress seems to flatter everyone, no matter what their figure.
-
Deborah replied 11 years ago
Oh my this is stunning. I adore the colors and the length! I found this to be a very flattering dress on a variety of body shapes so I say try it.
-
lyn* replied 11 years ago
Oh, you are so brave, Shannon ... I found a cute dress on the Anthro site, but with $20 shipping I'm sort of sticker s hocked :p
-
Clarissa replied 11 years ago
I think it will be flattering. Generally, I wouldn't recommend something so fitted on the bottom to an apple shaped gal since it may look disproportionate, but I think the pattern will make it look more flattering and create balance. Plus its so darn pretty!

dang...I cannot see it...dang europeversion won't find it..

Lyn D. replied 11 years ago
A stunning dress Shannon- I would love to see it on you!
-
replied 11 years ago
I saw it too and thought it looked interesting!
-
sarah replied 11 years ago
Oh, my, yes. I love those colors. Your top which is similar looks so great on you, so I'm thinking this would too.
-
Janet replied 11 years ago
The only way to know is to try it. ;-) The first version of this dress surprised me, and I thought I'd be the last person it would look good on, so I'd have to say give it a try!
I've been eyeing this too. Even though I have the dark purple one, I love the colors in this one, and the scoop neck is usually better on me than the higher neckline I already have.
-
Suz replied 11 years ago
Oh, gorgeous!! I love the colours.
I am so tempted.
But I think this scoop neckline will not do for me. Wish they'd kept the higher neckline to combine with these colours!
On the other hand, I will get to appreciate it so much more on you and maybe Janet, too!
-
Diana replied 11 years ago
Ooh, nice. I like the colors and the length (not too long and not too short, yay!) and the scoop neck is a much better proposition for me than the boat neck. It's definitely on my list of things to try on at Anthro - I did not see it in the store last week though.
Re: the body con thing. I am not a fan of body con these days for me but even I liked the other versions of this on me. The darker colors appear less body con. The genius of this dress is that the way the tiers are placed hides a multitude of sins even though it is a jersey material! The diagonal layers go all the way around (rather than being a single piece or straight layers in the back like many of the ripoffs) so it is flattering in 360 degrees! Of course you have to try it on to be sure, but the design is fantastic.

I say give it a whirl, Shannon!

Lantana replied 11 years ago
These are "your" colours and, topped off with your winning smile, I see a happy addition to your work wardrobe.
-
Transcona Shannon replied 11 years ago
Oooohhhh....it is soooo tempting - I think I'll check out the return policy and cost of returns and then make a determination. I can see this dress not only on its own, but with several of my toppers (red Gap blazer, black Danier leather blazer, plum Danier leather blazer, denim jacket, etc....)
Thanks for the feedback!
ETA: I pressed the "buy" button and it's on the way!!! Keep your fingers crossed it fits and flatters. After all my success with NAS, maybe my luck has run out!!!

lynne replied 11 years ago
Glad you took the leap! I saw that color combo in the store, and it's even prettier in person.
-
Angie replied 11 years ago
WOW.
Sleeved dresses are hard to come by. Stalk this style, Shannon.
-
pil replied 11 years ago
Love the colors in that dress. You have such a good eye, it will look great on you.
-
rae replied 11 years ago
Well, you love that tiered Vince Camuto top, right? And Natalie is an apple and loves her orange dress in this style. I think the odds look good!
-
replied 11 years ago
Sigh. I debated all night and then went to order it and it is sold out in M now.
I have no luck with these dresses!
-
catgirl replied 11 years ago
Shannon, I didn't even vote because I had a sneaking suspicion you were going to try this dress no matter what. :) I'm glad you did!
-
JR replied 11 years ago
It is a wonderful dress for sure. I would even be willing to try it, but those prices are just too high for me. *sigh*
-
Janet replied 11 years ago
Wait, Ceit, did you select the regular size or the petite? I just ordered it in a medium. Yeah, couldn't resist. It's an easy return to the store for me if it doesn't work out.
-
replied 11 years ago
Yes, I ordered regular medium, and it says there is no stock! I am so frustrated.
-
Janet replied 11 years ago
Are you in Canada? I wonder if that's why.
-
replied 11 years ago
Yes, although Shannon managed to order one yesterday. It is really annoying how Anthropologie manages their inventory.
-
Transcona Shannon replied 11 years ago
I was lucky Ceit because I ordered a petite large - petite medium was sold out even when I ordered mine.
Angie - you may have noticed that the last three dresses I ordered all have long sleeves. This is HUGE for me and our cold winters.
Rae - I'm hoping you're right - I do love the tiered VC tops and Natalie does ROCK her Bailey dress. Mind you, I'm much more apple-y than Natalie, but I'm still hopeful.
You realize of course that if the dress works out, I'm then going to want ox-blood booties like the model is wearing - love that colour with the dress...it just never ends, does it? :)
-
replied 11 years ago
I hope they get more stock in. I could see wearing this with my ash booties, my reddish brown booties and black booties/boots.
-
Vicki replied 11 years ago
Gorgeous colors! My heart fluttered when I saw your link and I immediately imagined you in it, Shannon. Please make it a reality.
-
Jjsloane replied 11 years ago
Shannon I am so excited to see this on you. I am drooling over this version, but I have the orange one in the mail to me already and at the sale price of $99 I'm still having heart palpitations about that, but if it works on my apple gut then it will work on anyone! We'll have a showdown when they arrive.
ETA: Rae your new retail business should include smuggling Anthro goods to the Canadians who so desperately need them!
-
Transcona Shannon replied 11 years ago
You've got yourself a deal Jeanne! Battle of the Bailey's!
I love the colours, the full length sleeves and the scoop neck on this one so I'm really hoping it works for me. And I have the feeling the orange one is going to look stunning on you!
-
Keix replied 11 years ago
I've tried on several variations of the Bailey 44 bodycon dress and I love it--even took one home--but ultimately haven't been able to stomach the price. I'm a rectangle-apple with no curves and found the profile view less flattering than the front, because my rear draws attention to my apple tummy but I don't have any bust to balance it out. Most apples are more blessed than me up top, though! Good luck with your purchase, Shannon! I'll be looking forward to the pictures when it arrives.
-
replied 11 years ago
OK, I just tried again and the order went through....I hope I love it. I guess this is my Christmas present to myself if it is a keeper!
-
Parsley replied 11 years ago
Shannon, you are just the worst influence! ;-)
Now I've gone and ordered that dress, too! I already ordered the orange-red one, but I'm not sure that I won't like this one better, with the scoop neck. We'll see which one gets returned (or possibly both).
It's going to be the Battle of the Bailey's for sure!
I predict that this one will look great on you! I can imagine it with a denim jacket and some burgundy boots...
Can't wait to see it on you!
-
Transcona Shannon replied 11 years ago
Uh oh....sorry ladies....(sort of)...
-
Mona replied 11 years ago
Can't wait to see you in this dress. so pretty
-
rae replied 11 years ago
Jeanne, that is genius. I could be a total retail mule!
-
Jem replied 11 years ago
This one is my favorite version so far! I love the colors and scoop neck. I hope it works for you!
-
Jonesy replied 11 years ago
The colors and print are fab! Looking forward to seeing this on all of you :)!
-
Transcona Shannon replied 11 years ago
I feel I should note that if this dress works and then I order the red Shannon boots to go with it (and other things of course) http://youlookfab.com/welookfa.....y-own-boot that I will not be able to purchase a suit as the budget will be bust, which is something I've been thinking about. Unless I can find the perfect suit at a deep discount.
Do you think this is a good trade - dress/boots vs suit?
-
sarah replied 11 years ago
Darn you, Shannon, I went and ordered that dress. I was NOT going to order a Bailey 44 dress - I wasn't that taken with the colors and I figured it would be too long - and then you go and show me one that's knee-length and in colors I adore. RRRRRRgh...
Dress + Shannon boots >>> Suit
-
Transcona Shannon replied 11 years ago
So let's see who ordered the dress = me, Parsley, Sarah, Ceit and Janet. Have I missed anyone? I'm dying to see how beautiful you all look in it - and YOU'RE WELCOME!!! (lol)
-
rae replied 11 years ago
IMO hardly anyone *needs* a suit these days. Pretty much comes down to what you want in your closet more/sooner. I guess I might argue that suits will always be around, while this style of dress may not.
-
Lyn D. replied 11 years ago
Confession- I am thinking of ordering too!
Does anyone know if the higher-neck version still around so I can check out the difference? Ta.
