Does this BF and boot combo work? (ETA outside version at bottom)

I woke up this morning to snow on the ground so more winter friendly footwear is in order. Just wondering if these Naot boots work with the rolled BF jeans? It looks ok to my eye but definitely need your keen style eyes ladies.

BTW I bought these Naot boots at the beginning of last winter and they are the most comfortable boots I have ever owned. Extremely warm, great grip on ice and snow, fabulous removable footbed, durable leather and some funky detailing.

Wardrobe Catalog

I've decided as part of my SYC adventure to actually take pics of all of my individual wardrobe items, including clothing, footwear, handbags, and belts. I'm not sure yet about accessories. This is so I can be sure of what I have, that I'm wearing all of my items, and have visual aids to assist in making different combinations.

I've searched on the web and found a few different programs that can help me with this and Homy Fads (http://homyfads.sunlitgreen.com/) kind of interests me. I don't have an iPhone so I need something I can use on my PC.

Has anybody ever used this program? anybody know anything about it?

Thanks!

Is jewelry dated?

Something Angie said has got me thinking about jewelry. In my outfit post with my orange skirt and purple jacket (http://youlookfab.com/welookfa.....ge-oxfords) Angie had suggested leaving off the necklace would be more modern. I had waffled about wearing the necklace and did feel the outfit had a cleaner vibe without it and very much agreed with Angie.

So this has me wondering - is wearing a necklace a dated style? On the other hand of course, the bubble necklace fad seems to have taken off and they are everywhere.

Would love to hear your thoughts on this.

Chunky Knit Debombshell experiment - does it work?

Ever since Angie started posting about fisherman knit and chunky knit sweaters I've been wondering if they could work on a short, slightly chunky gal like myself. Then when she illustrated how to use a chunky knit to debombshell a pencil skirt, I knew I had to give it a try.

I'm not wanting to spend big dollars on a chunky sweater in case it's something I end up not wearing so off to Value Village I went this morning. I found a few sweaters that would qualify but most were poor fits. But I did find one contender. It's a cream colour, loose turtleneck (funnel neck?), petite Nygard fisherman knit sweater. It fits well, it's soft as can be and if I had actually done my hair and put on makeup, the colour would be fine.

I've tried it in two versions here - one with the abstract pencil skirt I got yesterday and the other with the orange pencil skirt I bought about a month ago and have been waiting for cooler weather to pull out.

First off - does this overall look work for me? Is the sweater a good fit and colour? Should the footwear be less chunky to counteract the chunky sweater?

Please analyze these outfits for me and help me figure out how to wear this trend. Thanks!

Shoe Stretch Success

As you may recall, I was having an issue with my beloved cobalt blue Kate Spade pumps (http://youlookfab.com/welookfa.....oe-problem). I picked up a product called Stretch Genie and it worked like a charm. Comes with the leather softening spray liquid and these little stretching devices that can be widened and narrowed to suit your shoes.

Yay for success!

Why I love YLF

I have the whole day to myself today as everyone else in the household has plans. How decadent! After enjoying a leisurely coffee and a piece of cheesecake for breakfast (cake can be breakfast can't it?) I decided to tackle my closet.

It has turned into fall here (my favourite time of year by far) so took all my summery clothes out of the closet, off the shelves and out of my dresser to store in the downstairs cedar closet that's reserved for out of season clothing. Really summery shoes/sandals have also been put away.

Then I brought up all the fall/winter clothing and footwear to put into my bedroom closet. I am absolutely THRILLED with my fall wardrobe. I not only have my new NAS finds to look forward to wearing, but also many pieces from last year that I enjoy. While hanging up my things I discovered new combinations that can be made with the new and old items together. I also was pleased as punch to discover that my pants from last year fit again now that my new meds seem to be working.

I have more clothes than I thought and truly do not need to add anything to my fall wardrobe. Based on that I'm adopting a "one-in-one-out" rule for the remainder of fall/winter. I have no more room physically in my closet so for something new to come in, I must purge something else.

I did put together a huge pile of stuff to go off to the second hand shop as I decided to be much more discerning about what got put back into the closet. Some of the items I hadn't had that long but no longer cared for or worked with my current wardrobe/style any longer. This felt really good.

I love YLF because all of you and Angie in particular helped me get to this point. Helped me define my Retro Classic style, figure out what flatters my body, and assisted me in putting together a cohesive and fun wardrobe. I truly THANK YOU ALL for this!

Rubric musings with season change

With the change of seasons, I have decided to revisit my rubric. My rubric consists of the following elements:

- structure
- colour
- urban
- retro/vintage
- classic

I have found a few of these elements difficult to implement during the warm/hot months of summer since I tend to wear my flowy and less structured items when it's hot.

As we head into the fall months (my favourite time of year), I'm looking forward to breaking out my new NAS stuff, my blazers and leather jackets, boots and booties. I guess what I'm asking is do you see my rubric as still being valid? Any changes you've noticed in my style? Would love your feedback.

Fall Closet Review and wardrobe hole revealed

Last night while hubby and MIL were out and teenage son was off with his friends, I went through my entire fall/winter wardrobe. I am totally EXCITED to get into these fall clothes! I love everything I bought through NAS, plus the addition of my black leather jacket from Danier, pumpkin orange skirt from Winners, abstract print dress from Calvin Klein, two-tone blue wrap dress from BCBG and even my taupe skirt from Cleo. Plus I have pieces from last year that I still like and will continue to wear (Esprit trousers and my blazers in particular).

And of course, who isn't looking forward to wearing their boots/booties???

What I did discover through my review though is a distinct lack of tops. I'm kind of off knits these days so would be looking for blouses that can be both tucked and untucked and perhaps two more crisp button down shirts.

Has anyone tried the Eddie Bauer non-iron fitted women's button down shirts? As much as I love Rocky (my Brooks Brothers shirt) they are pricey and their delivery fees are astronomical to Canada. Just looking for another option.

Denim Jackets - 4 season work horse?

Just a quick check: are denim jackets something that can be worn year round, like a blazer? Or are they considered more warm season staples?

Possible relationship problems with my BF

I'm having doubts about the boyfriend jeans look on me. Although I've had reassurances from Angie and others on a couple of the looks I've tried with them and they are undoubtedly comfortable, I just don't feel like ME in the look.

Just saying...
