WIW: White Shorts for a Hot Work Day

Well the A/C still isn't working in our building and it is nearly unbearable by mid afternoon in my office. Technically today is Denim Day but the thought of wearing any sort of denim in the heat was purely nauseating. But then I thought of my white denim-like (cotton) Bermuda shorts and thought I'd give those a bash for casual day. Our office is pretty laid back on Fridays in the summer so these shouldn't be an issue re: dress code.

Paired with my white Bermuda's is my silk-blend white and floral tee. I love the fabric and non-clinging drape for the heat. I've added my silver/bone sandals for footwear, my cobalt and cream handbag and a gold/turquoise cuff for accessories.

What do you think? Does it all work together? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

Tee: Laura Petite
Shorts: Jones New York (thrifted as pants and altered by Wonder Woman)
Shoes: Fugitive
Handbag: Danier
Cuff: thrifted

You look nice and cool. I love the colours in that top - so summery.

    You look lovely and cool.

Also just wanted to say that when I first saw your sandals - just after you had bought them - I wasn't wild about them, but I now really really like them. My eye always seems to take quite a while to adjust to new styles and trends.

Crisp and cool in white and blue. I'm so glad that Angie explained the flattering properties of the diagonal sleeve and this top is a great example.
I hope you can stay cool in the heat.

You can't go wrong with white and blue in summer. So fresh and elegant,

Great cool summer look! Hope it isn't too unbearable. It's 30C already at 8am here, 98% humidity. My office is 21C which will feel nice for at least a little bit until I get cold!

You look terrific today. And what a shame about the AC. I hope they get it fixed soon!

It works perfectly, unlike the a/c.
I love the abstract rose on the tee.

I don't know how you can work at all without a/c but you will certainly look terrific trying. You give casual a good name!

Perfect!  I love this outfit, and you look like you'll stay cool!

Sanet - thank you so much for your comment about my sandals. They are definitely different and I can totally understand why there was some hesitation by a few members but they have worked out incredibly well. I'm glad you like them :)

Joy - I didn't even think of the diagonal sleeve on this top. Thanks for pointing that out!

Thank you for the outfit compliments - it is comfortable, unlike my office. It is already +25 Celcius and will only get hotter (and more humid). But the Maintenance Guy is on the way so here's hoping there's relief around the corner...'cause I'd hate to have to strip to my knickers in the name of comfort although I am wearing my pretty matching set today - lol!

Cool and summery, it must just be horrible for you at work with no a/c

  • Angie replied 10 years ago

FABULOUS. Perfect for a hot, no a/c day. Those shoes have become workhorses!

  • Cindy replied 10 years ago

Nice casual Friday outfit and I must say that I love the handbag!

Such lovely fresh summer colours! It all works for me. BTW my workroom at home can get very hot and no A/C. I have been known to work in my undies!

Perfect for a hot day :)

  • Joy replied 10 years ago

If you strip to your knickers, you must show us this outfit :D

I sure hope you can open the windows!  I know that in many recently built medical buildings, they windows are not functional.   I think they're fortunate you're still showing up after several days!

You made a fab choice in white and looser fits.  You look terrific.  Of course, you haven't left home yet! lol.

Angie - these shoes have completely taken me by surprise in how versatile they are. Not only are they a 10+ in terms of comfort, they just seem to "go" with so much more than I thought they would. This is definitely a brand I will be looking at again. I guess these are my version of your white pumps!

Cindy - this is my newest addition to my handbag collection. Her name is LBB  (Little Bag Blue) and she thanks you for your compliment :)

Diane - lol! I hope you don't have windows in your workroom!

Joy - OMG! You made me snort with laughter with that comment!

Beth Ann - the particular building I work in at my hospital complex is over 60 years old and is heated and cooled with water. All of the original windows (which could be opened) were changed to more efficient tri-pane windows about 20 years ago and now none of them open. I did threaten today to throw my computer through my office window to create an opening though! And yeah...I didn't look quite as fresh by the time I got home :(

Thank you for your lovely comments donnat and Caro.

Fresh and summery outfit - perfect for a scorching day.
Sorry your office is unbearable now, I hope they fix it soon! (btw I HATE windows which cannot be open, I need my fresh air and breeze!)
The LBB and LWS (little white shoes) really steal the show!
