WIW: Stripes & red booties

Yay for Denim Day (casual Friday at work)! I'm going in a little bit later today as the office owes me some time back. How nice to sleep an hour later and leisurely sip my coffee.

Today is the debut of the Sam Edelman red booties which I'm quite smitten with. I've paired them with my dark denim skinnies and a Gap loose knit sweater I bought in late spring. We all agreed that this sweater read more autumn than spring so have been waiting to pull it out. For a topper outdoors, I've tossed on my faux fur vest. Angie, you were sooooo right that I would love this vest! And then to add just a wee bit more red (can you ever have too much red?) and as my nod to the daytime clutch, I'm wearing my red Danier Leather clutch. It's on the smaller side but it holds everything I need.

So what do you think? Colours and proportions all play well together? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

    Great autumn look. The vest is great -- I couldn't imagine wearing one, but you have been rocking it in a totally uncontrived way. It's a natural!

    The stripes, the fur vest, the red, white and black, those gorgeous booties and that fantastic clutch, WOW. This adds up to a very chic and cheeky outfit. Love it!!

    Adorable! Love that vest on you; you did well to hold out for the right one. And I can't believe this is the debut for those booties; I thought you already wore them with the Bailey dress? Or maybe that was just a try-on. Anyway, I LOVE them!

    More stripes!!! It is clearly a YLF trend now and one that is being interpreted beautifully. I am also seeing lots of red booties being worn in fabulous ways. TS are those the Petty in red? Very nice.

    I also think the wooly mammoth (*SMILE*) is perfect and makes the outfit. You have a real knack for taking difficult trends and making them work. Kudos to you.

    That's a really cute outfit Shannon! I love the red booties and I love how slimming the dark vest is over the horizontal stripes. And may I say you look amazing in those skinny jeans? Wowza!

    I can already tell that this vest is going to be one of my favourite fall purchases EVER. Who knew?

    Suz - I did have a "try on" with the booties and the B44 dress, you are correct. And actually I think I did wear these to work one day already so may have inadvertently lied to y'all!

    Dianthus - these are the Sam Edelman "Lisle" booties. Super comfortable.

    I never, ever thought I would say this. That vest bumps the whole outfit up a notch or two. Or three. Will you never cease surprising me?

    And I want those booties. Not that I can justify spending any more on boots this season than I already have, so I'll just have to drool in my corner.
