WIW: Straight legs, camo & white leather

Today is the debut of two new items, as well as the welcoming back of a favourite item.

First new item is the straight leg, dark wash jeans - I wanted a slightly dressier jean to wear to Denim Day at work (to rotate with my more casual TR Camerons). I wanted no embellishment, coloured stitching, whiskering or fading and these DKNY fit the bill.

I've paired the jeans with a mixed media army green and camo pull over. The front is a drapey camo print and the sleeves and back are an army green knit. It also has a hi-low hemline.

I had these jeans hemmed to work with all my booties (red Sam Edelman, blue suede Aerosole, black patent Ara). Luckily all of these booties have the same heel height so this will make the jeans even more versatile. Like Angie, I have figured out that I need to pick a heel height for hemming and stick with it. So today's booties are my dark blue suede Aerosoles - oh so comfy!

And then to pick up on the white in the camo print, when I step outside I will have on my white leather jacket. I've been waiting less than patiently for it to be cool enough to pull out this favourite. I'm carrying my light cream handbag and jewelry is my black/white oversized watch and silver wedding band.

So what do you think? Jeans and top good choices? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

Top: Dex
Jeans: DKNY
Boots: Aerosole
Jacket & handbag: Danier Leather
Watch: Calvin Klein (thrifted)

    You look wonderful.

You are looking cute. This is a more polished casual, compared with your usual look. I think you will get lots of compliments at work. Very nice.

    Really nice, Shannon!

Outstanding, swoon worthy, ultra stylish. If I were Inge I would be able to deconstruct your outfit to explain why you look so fab - but I aint so I cant. The thing is, you just keep on trotting out these fantastic looks. You are a marvel, Shannon.

    What Lantana said :)

I love how you bounced the white from the top to jacket and bag and your color contrast works really well too. Very well put. I am loving it. YLF..

Shannon you look so great! I have t usually liked camo but it's been growing on me. I had my eye on a grey camo sweater and now seeing you in this outfit makes me want to try it out!

My favorite part is the camo shirt with the bright blue booties - another great outfit Shannon!

  • Suz replied 10 years ago

Fab shirt, Shannon, and the jeans look great! Love the jacket, too, of course. :-)

    Fantastic! YLF!

You look great!  I think the white accents with the bag and jacket make the outfit look very refined.

Terrific Friday look! Love the camo on you (and sometimes work requires a little toughness) and sleek straight legs are a great addition to your wardrobe.  The white leather makes such a polished, happy topper.  Yum!

    Hey Jacket twin :)
You look so fabulous in that outfit. The camo print comes of as very polished by adding the leather jacket.

I just adore camo with white! So beautiful.

  • kkards replied 10 years ago

  • shedev replied 10 years ago

    I like this Shannon.

Black white and blue for the win!

  • Marley replied 10 years ago

Shannon - I love the top, the booties and handbag!

So . . . that leaves the jeans, doesn't it?  ;-)  I've just realized that I may have a bit of a poison eye for straight leg jeans - so keep that in mind when I say that these just look too big to me on your legs.  Maybe its the length that is causing them to bunch up a bit and look bulky in the legs?  I'm not sure - but to me, they just don't look quite right.  BUT, I am in the minority here - so I think its me and not the jeans!

I love the gray camo - have not seen anything around here in that color, but would grab it in a second if I did!  White is perfect with the gray!

I love this, Shannon - you know I am a camo fan! I did see the same thing as Marley with the jeans. I am not good with straight leg styles so I will chalk it up to my own eye.

  • Transcona Shannon replied 10 years ago

Marley & Una - I see what you mean. I'm wondering if I have them hemmed a little too long and it's causing the leg to bunch up a bit?

Glad y'all like the camo and white leather :)

  • goldenpig replied 10 years ago

Love the camo with white jacket and bag!

  • catgirl replied 10 years ago

I don't know, lady! I always have the hem struggle with shoes and straight legs - in fact, I think someone asked about it here recently. It may also just be that you are standing still.

  • Marley replied 10 years ago

I don't know either!  But, I also wondered if they were hemmed just a little bit too long.  I just googled straight leg jeans and all of the images that I found have them hemmed just a little bit shorter than yours.  (I know - I'm not helping am I?)

  • Deborah replied 10 years ago

Lovely!  I particularly like the blue bootie which picks up the grey in the top, or maybe it's white?  At any rate it looks great.  The white jacket was clearly made with you in mind Shannon.

Sometime the bunching can be elimiated with a little 'tweaking' .  That is you can adjust into subtle folds so that the bunch disappears.

  • Lyn D. replied 10 years ago

This jacket looks lovely on you Shannon!

  • CocoLion replied 10 years ago

I am very particular about bunching and stacking but did not notice anything off here.  I think the jeans look right Shannon.  You are always going to have those folds with skinnies and straight legged jeans.  Even boot cuts.  Only wide legs and flares won't have the leg break and bunching.  And as much as I am particular about bunching, I also realize it happens on me all the time because as my pants bag out and loosen as the day goes on, they become effectively longer and hence the bunching.  Which is also why I like rolled looks and a super skinny ankle.  On the other hand, I try to also just accept that this happens and not be so neurotic about it.  On the whole, I feel a  pant that is a bit longer looks less "wrong" than one that is just a bit too short (this does not include intentional ankle or above the ankle lengths), which means --- bunch happens.  I don't recall ever seeing a thread about stacking/bunching/folding but as you can see I have detailed thoughts about it!!  And I totally have the urge to delete this entire paragraph but I'm going to be bold and litter your thread with my words of wisdom.

Anyway I love the outfit and the way you have made denim and camo perfectly work appropriate.  The top is a great find.

  • Momo replied 10 years ago

I really like the jeans on you! Great outfit. Looks wonderful.

  • Karie replied 10 years ago

I like CocoLion's response - "Bunch happens!" It does. I would rather the jeans be a little long than a little short (which, being slightly tall, I have that problem so much of the time). I actually like the bunching that is caused by my jeans being too long, probably because it's such a rare event for me!

Camo for Shannon:  is there anything you can't do?  How interesting to pair it with white and that structured bag.  You make it your own.

I have to stay out of the scrunch dilemmas as a little bit seems important with straight legs, but not sure how much is too much. Need to attend PPL university a bit longer to grasp it.

  • Day Vies replied 10 years ago

Love the camo and crisp white. Adorable!!!

  • MsMary replied 10 years ago

GAH!!  I love this!!!  OMG that top is killing me!!!  LOVE LOVE LOVE the white accessories with it!

    *plonk*

I don't see anything wrong with the jeans, FWIW.

  • dakotacheryl replied 10 years ago

I really like the jeans on you, and the white jacket???   TDF !!!

  • Von replied 10 years ago

I love this outfit, but I have a bag question. How do you keep your dark denims from rubbing off on a white bag?  I have a white bag that I really like, but rarely wear for fear of indigo smudge.

  • Joy replied 10 years ago

Shannon, You have shown us how to do camo for grownups. The style of your top, the white with it and blue footwear. Great job!
