WIW: Full Skirt & Docs

It's funny how I struggled with styling this full green midi skirt but now that I've figured out that I need the top half of me to have structure, I'm loving it!

So I started out today with this twirly green midi (which is beautiful in motion) and paired it with a black tank. On top of that I added my black ruched sleeve blazer. I know not everyone cares for pre-ruched sleeves but I quite like it on this blazer. For footwear I decided to go with my Doc Marcie mid calf boots - love the juxtaposition of a more rugged boot with a girly skirt. I chose my over sized snakeskin print clutch for my handbag and jewelry is my gold wedding band and rose gold/black oversized watch.

Happiness factor? Off the charts. I always feel so like ME when I put on these Docs. Anyway, over to you...do you think it all works together? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

BTW Gain thinks a morning treat is in order while Dusty Bottom is more refined in his "begging".

Blazer: RW & Co (thrifted)
Tank & skirt: Cleo Petite
Boots: Doc Martens
Watch: Fossil
Clutch: XOXO (thrifted)

SHANNON! This is so great! It's punk, and structured and awesome! I would wear this in a heartbeat, you look amazing!

  • Debora replied 10 years ago

You figured it out, for sure! The proportions look perfect to me. I can't tell you how much I love this skirt on you, and the boots are wonderful with it. I can see why your happiness factor is so high, you look stunning!

Yes, this skirt was made for you. I love the unstructued structure of this outfit.

  • talific replied 10 years ago

I love love this outfit! The colour of that skirt is so unique, really makes the outfit pop! Also, as Mona pointed out, that combo of structure and unstructured really works well.

I kinda like the punk vibe too! That skirt is lovely. A sheer barely black tight would look great for chillier days too.
    Gains and DB are adorable!

  • lyn67 replied 10 years ago

    Wow, unexpectedly fab! Kitties, too:-)
(is the skirt really green? I see mustard yellow:-))

What a fabulous outfit, Shannon! Off the charts fun.

Your cats are adorable, your Docs are awesome, and you look great in that bright skirt!

    *clapping hands*

Oh thank you so much ladies - I feel twirly and stompy all rolled into one :)

lyn67 - the skirt is an odd shade of green - sort of a mix of olive, citron and lime. I think my wall color behind me is making it look a bit more yellow than it is.

Diane - do you think that my black micro fishnets could work too?

I have a black and white knit sweater with gold shoulder zippers (white front, black sleeves and back) that I might try with this skirt too for the cooler weather.

Love seeing kitties with so much personality. You look ready for the runway. I love how you have restyled the skirt to make it your own wonderful look. It works!

Don't you just love how having so many shoes keeps them all looking fresh?!  These fab boots will last forever.

  • Sara L. replied 10 years ago

You look great!  I love the booties with the ladylike skirt.  And your cats are so cute!

  • donnat replied 10 years ago

    Totally awsome....love the punk vibe,

  • Von replied 10 years ago

I love this combination, I like how you paired the sensible jacket with the bright skirt and funky shoes.  I definitely think this outfit would go with micro fishnets.

  • Runcarla replied 10 years ago

Would this fab combo work if the skirt was switched out for beautiful blue one you had custom made from thrifted fabric?

  • In My Joi replied 10 years ago

    LUV that green skirt!!

  • AviaMariah replied 10 years ago

Brilliant combo of girlie and tough!

  • Beth Ann replied 10 years ago

Twirly and Stompy:  My favorite combination!  I've always loved this skirt on you, so I'm glad you've come to love it, too.  Love the wedge heel on the Docs.

  • rute replied 10 years ago

    Love!

  • rae replied 10 years ago

Love! A little bit grunge, even. So glad you were able to make the skirt work for you!

  • replied 10 years ago

I'm pretty sure the black fishnets would work Shannon, as long as there was enough skintone in the mix if you get my meaning. I don't see a dense black working but I thought a more see-through tight may work. Only one way to find out ... :)

Killer to the power of Killer

(Your Kitties inspired you extra this morning).

You know how rarely those come out. xo

I can't think of a better combination than twirly and stompy!!  This is fantastic from head to toe!!

  • annagybe replied 10 years ago

    So cool.

  • Lisa replied 10 years ago

"Twirly and stompy", great summary of this look.  And a fun color.  Pet furbaby for me.

  • Caro in Oz replied 10 years ago

I love this on you - so glad you kept it & made it work perfectly :)

  • Transcona Shannon replied 10 years ago

Carla - I actually ended up donating the blue print full skirt. In the end, it just didn't feel "right". The waistband was too bulky with the gathers starting higher up and as Anna had wondered the pattern ended up not feeling like me at all.

Angie - oh my! I'm humbled by your K2K rating :)

Thank you all so much for your lovely comments.

  • MsLuna replied 10 years ago

Shannon, I love this outfit! It has a very edgy/punky feel to it! Love the contrast of the floaty skirt with the docs and I love how you topped it off with a classy blazer and accessorized with a patterned clutch. LOVE IT!

  • Jaime replied 10 years ago

Can't believe you were ever not happy with this perfect skirt, now perfectly styled!

  • Karie replied 10 years ago

I love, love, LOVE, this outfit - the boots with the skirt is insanely fabulous!

  • AJ replied 10 years ago

Your smile in #2 says it all; you do look as good as you feel! Kudos on the styling!

  • Jeanie replied 10 years ago

How fun!  I was just eyeing the Doc Marten site is telling me to buy!

  • Ingunn replied 10 years ago

You are all kinds of awesome, Shannon, and I love the idea of a fishnet, too. Very Saint Laurent!

  • Lantana replied 10 years ago

Shannon, this is a knockout! I am taking a lesson from your comment about structure. Your assymetric hairstyle is really starting to make a statement now.
