WIW: Snakeskin & Dots

A little bit of pattern mix felt right today - so I started out today's outfit with my polka dot Mother's Day blouse and paired it with my Gap lightweight black trousers. I'm ashamed to say I've only worn these trousers twice since I bought them. I then added my black Clarks sandals, silver/white circle bangle watch and silver ring, and my yellow/cobalt snakeskin clutch (pattern mixing with the polka dots).

What do you think? Does this combination work? How are the proportions to your eye? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

Blouse: Winner's
Trousers: Gap
Sandals: Clarks
Watch: thrifted
Ring: local jeweller
Handbag: Trouve

What a happy pattern mix! Isn't it amazing how snakeskin seems to go with everything?!

Love this, Shannon! The proportions are fabulous to my eye.

Gorgeous. I love the proportions. You'll probably get more wear out of those trousers as we head into fall, don't you think?

    KILLER

    Strong, graphic and simple.

I love this top so much, it looks spectacular on you :-)

Great proportions, great use of black and white accented by the snakeskin pouch. Nice, clean, modern! Plus, it looks easy (i.e. comfortable) to wear :-) What could be better?

Such a lovely top on you, and it plays nicely with the black trousers! I love the black bangle and clutch too! You always do such a great job of accessorizing!

I had to add, that the top is so versatile since it is dressy enough to go out on the town and still work appropriate!

I've never noticed before what a nice neck and shoulders you have. I think it is the uncluttered nature of the outfit that is doing it. The print of the blouse adds just the right amount of interest. (I had been imagining it with a scarf or a necklace and decided that no, it works better as is.)

  • MNsara replied 11 years ago

Oh, yeah! JR is right about your neck and shoulders!

Love it! Your smile is your best accessory but the purse and watch are pretty fab too;)

Wonderful Shannon, and you got a KILLER! Woot! Those black slacks are fab and you need to get them out a little more often, methinks. I love that blouse every time I see it on you. :)

  • Jaime replied 11 years ago

Love! You should wear those trousers more often!

    SCORE!!

I love how you went with just the watch/ ring/ purse for accessories and left it at that. I'm a bit of an accessories hog, so it's good for me to see the power of simplicity. Thank you!

    Thanks ladies!

Meredith - just to clarify that the bangle watch is actually silver chrome, not black. I realize the close up photo makes it looks dark.

JR & Sara: thanks for the lovely compliment regarding my neck and shoulders. It's the one place on my body that doesn't have any extra fat (lol)!

I love how simple this is - it really lets the prints do the talking! Super cool.

You look great! But hey -- ditch the shame! There will be plenty of chances to wear those fab black pants once the weather cools off!!

  • greenglove replied 11 years ago

I think it all works, love the mix of pattern and texture!
    You nailed the proportions!

  • Janet replied 11 years ago

This may be one of my favorite looks on you! I'm loving snakeskin right now -- I might have to find another snakeskin item (I have one clutch and a pair of sandals, and I feel like maybe booties or something else might make an appearance in the fall).

    I love that ring too!

Thank you all. This blouse was actually my first foray into the world of volume and I absolutely love it. This clutch is also turning out to be a favourite.
