WIW: Mother's Day Blouse & Denim (ETA outfit tweak)

My son bought me this blouse last year for Mother's Day and I love it just as much now as I did then. It's got huge dolman/batwing sleeves, banded waist with a small flounce and is navy with large cream polka dots. It also has a built in under-tee which eliminates having to wear a camp. Fab.

I've paired it with my Canyon River Blues jeans (now my fave pair of jeans) and my taupe peep toe laceless oxfords. Handbag is my light cream satchel and I'm wearing my chrome/white watch and silver wedding band for jewelry.

What do you think? Does it work together? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

Top: gift
Jeans: Canyon River Blues
Shoes: Boutique 9
Handbag: Danier Leather
Watch: thrifted

ETA: Something felt slightly "off" in my outfit and I realized it didn't feel quite modern enough to me, so just before I left the house I changed my shoes to my Dolce Vita bone laser cut oxfords, added my wide white leather belt to the jeans and a faux tuck and PRESTO - felt much more modern and crisp to me. Sorry I didn't have time to take a pic but will try when I get home.

Great outfit Shannon! Love the peep toes with the jeans!

Shannon, you look fantastic. Your son has excellent taste!  I really like the light color of your shoes with this, it picks up the light background in your top. Your accessories are always gorgeous - that attention to detail takes your outfits up, up and away to the next level!

    I love it!

Ditto. Whole look is gorgeous. Your son has good taste and how cool to buy you a blouse. Clearly he has read the article about young men and dressing well that you highlighted.  I enjoyed it too and so did my son.

I think you did great! I love the subtle colors and the pattern on your top. Your son is such a darling. You have such great variety in your outfits, and every single one is successful. WOW!

Ceit & Karie - uh oh....hopefully you still like the outfit with the bone oxfords!

Archer - my son has made a couple of clothing purchases for me in the last year and has made wonderful choices. He actually goes digging through my closet without my knowledge to check sizes - lol!

Missvee - can you believe how fast my hair is growing? I'm loving it.

Thank you dlb1960, Amiable, Catherine, Glory, donnat and Ingunn!

Love this look, which, to my eye, is quite modern.  The changes, as you describe them seem brighter -- can't wait to see!

Sorry I wasn't able to get back to this thread yesterday - what a CRAZY day at work. We had a crisis situation at the end of the day and I didn't get home until after 8:00 p.m. so didn't take a pic of the tweaked outfit.

As the day wore on, I was wishing I had kept the outfit exactly how you see in my original pics. I decided that I liked the silhouette better with the simpler outfit - lesson learned!

I'm so glad these this shape and style of blouse is still current 'cause I love wearing this one and it makes my son so happy every time he sees it on me :)

    Thanks everyone!

I love this outfit!  And the story behind it, so glad it makes your son smile to see you in this blouse ("his" blouse!)
