WIW: MaryK Copycat

I loved MaryK's recent outfit with her denim shirt and black/white striped VC tube and knew I had to copy it for Denim Day (a.k.a. Casual Friday).

I do wish I had snapped up the larger black and white striped VC skirt but this smaller striped version is what was available in my local store. I paired the skirt with my denim shirt and black sandals, which are the closest I have to MaryK's gorgeous cage style sandals. My black slouchy leather bag with gold hardware and a blue and silver art deco inspired bracelet round out the outfit.

MaryK - you are my Pinterest and I love seeing how you take inspiration from all sorts of outfits and make them your own. As a result, you make me think outside of the box too - keep 'em coming gorgeous lady! Pic #4 shows how fab MaryK looks in her outfit and what inspired me.

Pic #5 is showing you the new bra I bought last night (yep...our friendship has reached THAT level - lol!). I finally went last night and got sized since my old bras were no longer fitting right. Had the most delightful young 20ish SA who was just amazing. Ended up buying 4 bras and 4 pairs of matching panties - I feel so fab knowing I have this pretty retro houndstooth and hot pink bra on :)

All always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

Shirt: Reitmans
Skirt: Vince Camuto

    Shannon, you look amazing.

And love your new bra too! What a lovely treat to have new unders. I so need to get to the store and replace a bunch of mine too!

What a great outfit and a deserving MaryK copycat. You are both among my style icons, so this is double dose inspiration! Your new bra is super sassy and a lovely treat to yourself.

Shannon, you look awesome!  As does MaryK.  And your girls are so well dressed :)
I have the wider striped skirt, haven't worn it yet (feel a few of the summer pounds need to come off first)... so thanks for the double inspiration!

Fabulous! What a great tribute to Queen Colour -- of course you had to show us your bra because it added the pop of colour to the neutral ensemble! Adorable.

    Haha love the bra!!

Nice Shannon.  That skirt is a real prize.  I am envious of the great find.

Where did you go bra shopping?  My favorite is Ce Soir across from St. Vital mall.

My husband is mortified that I have a pic of my bra on the forum - lol! I just told him that we gals share many things :)

Dianthus - I actually went bra shopping at La Vie En Rose. I've never been there before but one of the ladies highly recommended it and I thought "why not give it a try". I had a great experience and the prices were fantastic.

Thanks for the outfit love ladies - I must admit I feel rather "sassy" today.

Your freak warm temperatures are crazy - as we sit here in 8 to 12 degrees. Enjoy it. You look polished, hip, and ready for action.

    Killer bra. xo

    Squee!!!  SO FUN!!!

Isn't that outfit formula the best??  You are rocking it HARD!!  And THE BRA!!  LOVE!!

Shannon, you have started my day off with a huge smile!!  Thank you!!  :D

    Ooh la!

Love the bra!  In climates with long winters that require lots of layers, there is certainly a need for a little flash in the lingerie!

The outfit is terrific, too, of course.  I love the way these skirts feel as much as how they look, and I think they change the way we move, too.  Do you know what I mean?  When I'm comfy (stretch, woohoo!) but I know my form is still visible, I move through my body, attempting as much grace as possible.  There is more body awareness, without any pinching or binding.

Hope your weekend is full of good things, I know you've been working hard, and looking fab to boot!

Shannon I totally love this look on you. You have found so many great ways of styling that skirt - what a great item that has turned out to be.

You look smashing Shannon! A worthy copycat indeed :) And I'm loving the new bra!

  • Transcona Shannon replied 10 years ago

MaryK - you keep inspiring me and I'll keep making you smile, ok?

Beth Ann - I totally get what you mean about how you move in these skirts.

Angie - this is unusually warm for us and I am enjoying it, knowing once the cold/snow arrives I won't see temperatures like this again until April. BTW I have now joined the "bras and knickers matching club" - lol!

    Thank you ladies :)

I love this. Marking to copy too. I so struggle with my chambray shirt - which I love, but just can't style properly. Thanks.

Love the bra pic! New bras make me feel like a new woman!
I think this is a great silhouette & outfit for you. It perfectly combines all of your signature elements and blends seamlessly into your previous looks.

Lovelovelove your version of MaryK's outfit. And a houndstooth bra! Who'd have thought lingerie would be inspired by menswear ?
