WIW: Lotsa red & a bit of herringbone

Yet another dress for winter outfit - ooops…forgot to link to the blog post. Sorry Angie :)

Today's outfit started with my dark tulip EF dress. This is like wearing a sweatshirt dress to work - so comfy and cozy. On top of the dress, I've added the dark tulip asymmetrical cardigan. I love the tonal layering of dark red. Then to keep my legs warm, I've added my herringbone patterned tights and my knee high Blondo riding boots. Truth be told, I may have preferred my rugged Docs with this outfit but with the wind blowing around out there, I needed the extra three inches of boot!

I finished off the outfit with my oversized snakeskin clutch, rose gold/black watch, gold wedding band, red specs and red lipstick. I like the subtle pattern mixing of the herringbone tights and snakeskin print clutch.

I've also added a close up (yikes!) to show you how long the top and fringe of my hair is getting now that I've decided to grow the top out a bit. Really happy with how it's coming along. I've also recently switched to Clinique CC cream as the Urban Decay Naked Skin foundation I really like is not moisturizing enough for our dry winter air. So after rinsing my face in the morning with just tepid water, I moisturize, let that soak in and then add the CC cream for a bit of colour correction, light coverage and additional moisturizing and SPF benefits. Very pleased with the natural look and my skin loves it.

Would love to hear what you think of today's outfit and anything else you care to comment on - all comments/suggestions welcome.

So pretty! I have a similar body type to yours, so I always love to see your outfits. I get great ideas from you, thank you.

That dress is so great on you and lands at the perfect place on your legs. You skin looks wonderful, healthy and vibrant. Gorgeous Shannon!

The dark tulip red and your dewy makeup bring out your glow. I love the boots and peek of patterned leg too.

Wow, you look wonderful...both up close, and from a distance. Love the patterns of your tights and bag with the burgundy. Whatever's left in your closet is pretty darn amazing. Rock on!

Gosh Shannon, you have gorgeous skin! And I love what is happening with your hair now too .  I'm always on the lookout for just the right foundation or makeup and will have to keep an eye on the Clinique CC for next time.   Your Blondo boots look very cool with that knit effect shaft....if I'm seeing it correctly.  I can hear the wind blowing around outside and am seriously considering staying put in my office today.

    TIGHTS TWIN!!!

But, thread jack here --- when I opened mine up, they had a RUN in them. I swear to the tights goddess I did not do this myself. But I no longer have my receipt. I got them at the Bay -- do you think I should try taking them back anyway? I am so frustrated! They are such cool tights!!

I love you in all this red, Shannon. Gorgeously festive.

ETA, your hair and skin look gorgeous!

Pat - thank you so much. That's so sweet of you to say :)

Classically Casual - I am starting to wonder why I was so worried about what I had left in my closet that fit!

Lisa - yes, the shaft of these Blondo boots is like a woven leather. It's really quite amazing how it both stretches and hugs the calves.

Suz - OH NO! Take the tights back for sure, even without the receipt. What's the worst they can say? They are fab tights and worth trying to replace if you can.

Thanks for the lovely words ladies :)

    FABULOUS. Festive, flattering and fun.

I LOVE THOSE RED SPECS. (Can I make it any clearer?). And dark red is definitely one of your best colours. Milk it, sister. xo

  • Angie replied 9 years ago

Oh yes. AND you have gorgeous skin. xo

  • Transcona Shannon replied 9 years ago

I'm sorry Angie but I'm a bit confused - how do you feel about these red specs??? Lol :)

  • Debbie replied 9 years ago

You look beautiful. Every time I see that dress I think of tracking it down for myself

  • Zibbets replied 9 years ago

You are gorgeous, Shannon. I didn't have a chance to comment on your previous threads but wanted to chime in and say I've so been there. You may feel like you're not right where you want to be, but you LOOK fantastic.

I love this whole outfit. The red is fantabulous on you and I'm swooning over the boots.

Agree that the red specs are amazing. They seem to work wonderfully even when you're not wearing red. Well played.

Shannon, I want that dress lol. I love the cut and colour and may need to try to hunt one down:). Love the outfit on you, that colour loves you. And the close up is lovely. You are such an attractive woman. Your skin looks amazing and I am loving your hair. It's amazing how a subtle change makes a difference. You may just have inspired me a little...I have a cut and colour booked for tomorrow.

Someone has recovered her fabulosity!  Love this, love your hair -- I really love your hair, I think it's one of your best fashion changes lately.

  • kerry replied 9 years ago

Wow, your skin looks gorgeous! Think I need to check out that Clinique CC cream!

  • rachylou replied 9 years ago

You complexion looks very glowy, so you must be doing the right think.

Nice outfit. Can't say no to red, herringbone, and cozy :)

Crazy fab!  My first thought was "Shannon throwing us a red herring(bone)"... But you have not led us astray.  :)

Interested in the CC rec, because I use Urban Decay Naked Skin BB cream and it's too chalky on me in winter.  I love the Garnier one, actually - think that was Isabel's recommendation.  Your skin looks amazing.  I'm currently testing a serum by Sephora - never have used one but I feel it's nice to use before lotion which seals it in.

Gorgeous Shannon, just gorgeous. Nothing much more to say!

I always adore reading your threads and Deborah's too because you both seem to have a knack for finding pieces with fabulous drape and interesting shapes. Plus, red specs, red lipstick, and red outfit, oh my! You found just the right red for you. If that wasn't enough, the texture of the boots and tights make the outfit even more special. Love it!

  • Mochi replied 9 years ago

Awww, you're looking especially great here, Shannon. I love the color on you, the tights and the cool glasses.

  • Helena replied 9 years ago

That color is amazing on you!
