WIW: Long gold sleeves

I enjoyed reading the blog post regarding extra long sleeves and realized it applied to my gold sweater. These sleeves definitely have "slouch" and in fact, I sort of "faux tucked" the left sleeve under the face of my watch so I could have the length of the sleeve but still show my watch.

I paired my shiny gold sweater with my burgundy skinnies and my ancient chocolate brown leather insulated booties. I added my snakeskin belt and semi tucked the sweater to give a hint of the belt and went with my snakeskin handbag for a bit more snake-y pattern and because there are gold tones in the handbag that work well with the sweater.  I added my rose gold/black watch, gold wedding band and burgundy-plum lipstick for accessories. I have come to realize that I do consider my lipstick an accessory since IMHO it does add to my outfit, adds colour and completes my look.

For anyone who is concerned, this is NOT too casual for my office - more on that in a separate post.

What do you think of this all together? Does it work? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

Sweater: Esprit

You have put together a diverse group of terrific outfits for your first week on the new job! If I were your colleague, I'd eagerly check out what you're wearing every day. This gold sweater looks luxurious and cheerful.

You are so smart - I am sure I have a sweater with super long sleeves hiding in my closet somewhere too. I always look for the little details that make your outfits so special. Here I think it is the shoes with the tapered, scrunched pants - something about the buckle and the toe works perfectly. I love your semi-tuck too. Inspirational as ever and I wish you would come visit and give me lipstick lessons!

D***n girl!!  You look sooooooooooooooooooo good!!  Love that sweater on you and you have styled it brilliantly.  Shannon you look relaxed but so elegant.  Bag, shoes and watch look wonderful with the sweater.  Watch out, you'll add wardrobe consultant to your new job description!!

You have taken faux tucking to a whole new level! Tee hee!

Gold and burgundy is a beautiful color combo! Your new animal print shoes will also be brilliant with this combo! And I consider lipstick as accessory too. Without it I would look drab no matter what I wear! You look sweet. I am sure you have taken the new work place by storm :)

You are looking so great these days! I love the gold with burgundy, and the light bag with it all is a nice punch of lightness.

Shannon, you look radiant!  All the parts of this outfit work together beautifully, and the faux tuck looks perfect on you.  Sadly, I'm faux-tuck-challenged...just can't seem to make it work on me.

PS:  So happy to see you back posting work outfits!  I get lots of inspiration from you.  :-)

  • rae replied 10 years ago

It sounds like you will have a lot of leeway to have a fashion blast at this office! And these colors are a perfect way to do that... reminds me of my favorite right-hand ring. I guess that means you look like a gem!

Fabulous outfit Shannon. The way you go about creating an outfit and choose the smallest of details is fun and educational at the same time. And, I must say I find it so amusing that there can actually such thing as super-looooong sleeves :-D Maybe this one trend will finally work in my favour.

I hope the new workplace is treating you well ;-)
