WIW: Leopard & Leather

This outfit is a take on Angie's "pencil skirt with leather jacket" formula. I realize it's a bit heavy with the amount of black leather and won't be to everyone's liking. If I had time this morning, I would have switched my handbag to a red clutch but no time…

The outfit started with my leopard print pencil skirt to which I added my black knit tank and topped with my black leather blazer. I added sheer black hose and my ancient knee high black leather boots. They are not as refined as the new styles that are available now but these are very comfortable, fit well and will get me through one more winter. Handbag is black leather and jewelry is just my gold wedding band and a rose gold ring. Red lip of course!

What do you think? Does it work or is it just too much black leather? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

Jacket & handbag: Danier Leather
Tank & skirt: Sears
Boots: Clarks

Wow! Thank you all so much :)

  • Angie replied 4 years ago

Not too much leather at all, Shannon. And you wear black well. You decided to wear a skirt today anyway - that's fun too, and you look fabulous. Loving the slightly longer hair. xo

Thank you Angie - I know a lot of black can be harsh, especially as we age. I guess I'm lucky that it works fairly well with my coloring. Will definitely still be wearing my skirts. No love lost there. Just my dresses I'm kind of off wearing these days.

    Sleek, fierce and strong!

  • Angie replied 4 years ago

Got it. I'm more into skirts (than dresses) these day too, so high five.

  • Suz replied 4 years ago

You look great, Shannon. That skirt was one of the buys of the season! I would also love it with your red bag but this works to my eye as well.

I love this!  I think the skirt definitely freshens up the black and keeps it from being too much!

Too much black leather?  Never!  You look fab!!

  • Elizabeth P replied 4 years ago

Too much black leather?  Not in your life!  This is one of my favourite outfits of yours, I think.

    Saving for inspiration...  :)

Not too much leather at all!  At least not for me.  You look sleek and happy.

You look fabulous, I love this outfit :)

Love this outfit!  The leopard print really balances the black and the pencil shape is so flattering.

  • replied 4 years ago

Looks good! The skirt can hold its own with the black leather accoutrements!

  • rae replied 4 years ago

I don't think it's too much leather at all. I guess I have never been a fan of leather with leopard, but that's my personal hang-up. The silhouette and colors look amazing on you!

YLF! love everything about this look!

  • Diana replied 4 years ago

Not too much leather at all.  I love this, the textures are so rich and I daresay even warm.  I think it's the leopard that makes the black leather seem much warmer toned than is normal.  (Which is one reason why I'm obsessed with gold zipper boots, because I think gold hardware really makes black leather look warm as opposed to hard and cold.  Both are good but sometimes you want warm, you know?)

  • replied 4 years ago

More love here.  I often worry about the too much leather question. I think it helps that you wear black so well.

  • LACeleste replied 4 years ago

You look incredible Shannon!  Really pretty!  Great texture and beautiful smile!

  • Gigi replied 4 years ago

Love love love this! I want to copy it, except I have none of the items but the boots. Darn.

  • Emily replied 4 years ago

Rawr!  I like this, and I don't think there is too much black or leather! If anything, I would like it better if the skirt had a black background rather than white.  You look fun and classy.

  • Deborah replied 4 years ago

I love this skirt and I think it breaks up the black perfectly.  Not that I think you can every have too much black or too much leather lol.  Stunning.

  • vipanchi replied 4 years ago

    Super chic! You look awesome!

  • Transcona Shannon replied 4 years ago

Thank you for your lovely comments ladies. You have made my day :)

Diana - I agree totally about this particular leopard print being warm instead of cool. And it does relate to your gold zipper desire!

I have a leopard print cardigan with a black background and love it but I like that this skirt has a light background - gives a totally different vibe.
