WIW: Knit Dress & Denim Jacket Formula

This is my favourite outfit formula of all time. It's easy, it's comfortable, it's cozy and it works for both my office and for casual wear.

I started the outfit with my black ponte knit sheath dress. I then added a scarf that has black/grey/burgundy/gold in it for a bit of colour and a bit more of that "coziness factor". On top of that I added my cropped mid wash denim jacket. On my lower half I'm wearing dark grey tights and my grey Frye double-shaft boots. Jewelry is my grey & silver bangle and my handbag is my faux croc patent black one.

What do you think? Does it all work together? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

    with all the black ponte sheaths around at this time of the year, stores and stylists need to come take lessons from you on how it is done. I know you have written a few times recently how you are feeling less than fab about figure related issues but remember hon; size is just a number and seeing you in this outfit, bodycon yet not, dressy yet laidback with perfect accessorizing is what you should be focussing on: how you've got it going on...in fab style with true panache.

    (Sorry to sound a little like a therapist but you really are a style inspiration and you need to see/hear that more oten not just from others but from yourself!!)

    Perfect Shannon! I esp. love the your choice of dark grey boots and opaques, wich matched so well with colour of your denim jacket, and the greys in the beautifully knotted scarf. Eye delightening outfit! And guess you topped it with a coat, isn't it?

    This formula really appeals to me. It's simple, yet interesting. You make everything look so easy, but I know it took you time and effort to work it all out. I like the way you matched your tights to the boots here, so the horizontal line is at your knee. Very attractive! :)

    I was contemplating this formula this morning too, having just obtained my first knit dress. But I decided to dress for the weather in very warm clothes instead. Perhaps next week will see some dress weather :)

    Your version is perfect! I want more knit dresses!

    I love this formula; it is a favourite fall back for me, too! You look great, Shannon - I love the details. And it is a change to see you in a scarf! It works great with this combination.

    I love this combination. I also really like how you went gray with the tights and boots instead of black. It's fun yet sophisticated with lots of visual interest. Perfect!

    Lyn - I covered up the outfit with my red puffer coat and changed into my winter boots for heading outdoors. It is positively miserable here today.

    Sarah - would love to see your "copycat"!

    Suz - it's true I haven't worn a scarf in some time. I used to and then I got away from them, finding them a bit fussy. But today it just felt right.

    Sara - a friend of mine showed me this way to tie a scarf. It almost makes it like a necklace. Glad you like it!

    Day Vies - I think the black tights and black boots would have been a bit heavy looking and I like how the grey picks up the grey that's also in the scarf.
