WIW: Giving my BF another chance

Haven't worn my Gap sexy BF's lately since I've been preferring my other denim styles, but thought today would be a good day to try them again 'cause in case you didn't know already, I'm not one to give up easily!

I'm wearing the BF's full length with heeled booties to try and elongate my leg line, as I do find the BF's can be a bit "stumpifying" if I'm not careful. I've added my green cashmere sweater which I'm totally in love with - it's like a cashmere sweatshirt. I've done a small semi tuck so that some of my animal print belt can show. I'm using my oversized snakeskin clutch for a bit more texture and pattern. A simple outfit for a casual Friday.

What do you think? Does my BF deserve to stay? Does this outfit work in terms of proportion? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

Sweater: Lord & Taylor
Jeans: Gap Sexy Boyfriend
Boots: thrifted
Clutch: gift from Sona

Love the colour of your sweater and I'm glad you're back on speaking terms with your BF! I

I accidenltly pressed submit when I hadnt finished! I was going to say I love how all your accessories play nicely with each other. YLF!

Shannon you are persistent:). I think this looks great, and you may know that I don't love BF jeans BUT this tendentious is very attractive. I like them full length, it really changes the whole look this way. The green is a really nice colour for you and the accessories are prefect.

I admit, I am not a big fan of unrolled BFs, as I think unrolling them takes away from the look, but you have done a tremendous job here, making them look fun and fresh. YLF.

I think these do look fun and fresh and I love the cashmere sweater on you . Gorgeous color.

I think you've done a great job stying these. However, I have to be honest... I don't think they are as "you" as other things you've posted. Not that I know you, but they don't make you sing like other things do. I don't know what it is, but I notice this because I have the same thing going on with me. I'd love a pair, but they just don't feel right on ME.

    Sweater is awesome!

Good to see you this morning TS. Hope all is right in your world. Looking good as you always do :) Gotta love a soft, sweet cashmere. Would like to add your clutch to my collection. Just lovely. Everything.

I think this looks good, Shannon! I like them unrolled here, even though it is harder for me to appreciate unrolled BF overtop boots instead of tucked in.

I think the sweater providing the soft shape really helps. The colour is excellent too.

Your BF is a keeper, I like the look. The sweater and the animal print belt look fantastic, too!

  • Raisin replied 11 years ago

They look great Shannon. I like them unrolled too, more practical for winter weather anyway.

  • Parsley replied 11 years ago

Shannon, this outfit looks slouchy and fun on you.
I don't find the BFs as conventionally flattering as some of your other outfits, but you've styled it perfectly and it looks absolutely intentional.

I love your cashmere "sweatshirt" and your fabulous snakeskin clutch!

Thank you ladies - I definitely agree that the BF's are not conventionally flattering, especially on a petite apple. I think that's been one of the main problems I've had with wearing them. And I can absolutely appreciate the fact that wearing BF's unrolled kind of takes away from the fact that they are BF's.

I like your BF jeans unrolled. Personally I think BF's are a little harder to style in the winter. Rolled with sandals is how I want to see them (and wear them) so I struggle more in the winter. Love the color of your sweater.

  • Missey replied 11 years ago

Your perseverance has paid off! I think this is a lovely casual look on you...unrolling the BF's has definitely "destumpified" them for you!

  • Tina.b replied 11 years ago

Still in love with that sweater, such a gorgeous colour on you! The combination of tucking and the unrolling of the jeans gives you a lovely, long look. Great outfit!

  • Angie replied 11 years ago

    I LOVE unrolled BF's - as you know :)

You did a KILLER job here, Shannon. Such strong casual simplicity. I can see the Spring in your step. Well done!

  • Transcona Shannon replied 11 years ago

    *clapping hands*

Thanks Angie - glad to know my persistence has paid off!

  • Beth Ann replied 11 years ago

Shannon, I find these more "conventionally flattering" than many other looks that you do brilliantly--- booties with longer skirts, volume over volume. This has a little structure and a little drape, which helps it flow over the body, and you look great, and very relaxed and comfortable.

I keep going back to my bfs because I love the way they feel -- the room in the them and the laid-back mood. I think they make me feel more relaxed and I am SO ready for that!

I didn't know you two broke up. I love this look, Shannon. You look fab in the BF's! Please give him another chance :)

  • rae replied 11 years ago

I like it a lot! Did you feel better about the BFs worn this way? I like the soft drape of them with a soft drapey top as well.

  • Sona replied 11 years ago

well. killer says it all. sometimes our simplest looks are our most stand out ones. casual done right takes effort and it shows here.

  • replied 11 years ago

I like that you're not the type to give up easily! Great job styling the BF's. The emerald green cashmere sweater is absolutely gorgeous on you, and the snakeskin clutch from Sona is the cherry on top of this fab outfit. Well done Shannon! :)

I love your BF this way - I wear them like this myself with boots quite a bit in winter. And that sweater is FANTASTIC on you. Love the accessories and love how you do such a great job at describing what you are wearing and why (like why you chose to semi-tuck) as I think it's so helpful to newer YLF members.

  • catgirl replied 11 years ago

Your boyfriend's back! (hey la hey la)

I love this and would wear it just as is. Simple, comfy, cool. :)

  • Transcona Shannon replied 11 years ago

Beth Ann - thank you for your analysis of why this works - "a little structure and a little drape" - maybe that's the mix I need to find.

Rae - I definitely prefer the BF's worn this way. I think because my legs are quite short and I'm bigger in the hips and thighs, having that roll at the bottom cuts my leg make it look shorter and heavier. Wearing the jeans unrolled gives me a longer leg line but I still have the comfort of the jeans.

Una - I was smiling this morning when getting dressed knowing you'd get a kick out of my BF coming back into my life!

Thanks for your input Kelly, Sona, Claire and textsyle!

Must have missed the break up. I love this look on you - the knit is beyond fab on you & I love how you've styled the outfit.

  • sarah replied 11 years ago

You look great! I would wear slightly wider belt, but that's me...

Glad to hear you and the BF are working things out.

  • Glory replied 11 years ago

Very nice Shannon. I love you in the BFs and the colour of the sweater - is it a cross between a green and turquoise? Hard to tell on the monitor but I love it.

  • Aida replied 11 years ago

I love how they look full length Shannon! I have been enjoying mine this way as well, though they are technically too short. The semi-tuck also gives you a little bit of extra structure. A fitted top and jacket would also look fab with your pants styled this way!
