WIW: Day 3 Dress Challenge & 2 new items

Today's outfit was a bit of a challenge as I wanted to debut my new white blazer and my new silver/bone sandals. However, it is also our hospital's staff barbecue today and I'm volunteering at it and will be serving hotdogs while standing on grass. So how to keep greasy stains off the jacket and grass stains off the shoes?

So I am wearing the white blazer, which I'm already loving. It's a fairly tailored and crisp piece which gives me the structure that I like. The sleeves scrunch and stay put nicely thanks to the arm fit and useful three buttons on the cuff.

I've popped the jacket on top of my simple black sheath dress and added my white leather clutch. This is a direct copycat of an outfit Ingunn showed us with her sheath dress and white blazer. I love the simplicity and boldness of it - thanks for the inspiration Ingunn!

And I'm debuting my new silver and bone shoe-sandals. I'm falling more and more in love with these each time I pop them on my feet. So glad I got these.

Then when I head out to the lawn for the barbecue, I will take the jacket off (it's going to be quite warm today) and switch the shoe-sandals to my cream/black quilted flats.

How do you like the white blazer? Does the outfit work? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

Blazer: Nygard
Dress: Banana Republic
Shoes: Fugitive
Clutch: Danier Leather

The only thing I am confused about is why you say you are debuting the shoes - you mean at work? Love this both with and without the jacket and with both shoes! Love that you mix whites too!

  • missvee replied 10 years ago

Very nice. You can't go wrong with black and white. It's just such a classic combo for your colouring. Enjoy your hot dogs!

Such lovely simplicity is soothing...maybe this is your detox outfit. You are going to look very classy dishing out baked beans.

Great idea on the quick change, and this looks lovely!

I can see that jacket being worn to shreds this summer!

  • Runcarla replied 10 years ago

Just love the silver criss cross at the ankles. I am glad these shoes are working out for you. Great classic style today.

    Have fun at the BBQ!

This looks really great! Those new sandals are gorgeous, I love the bit of metallic on them.

I also love how you "pop" everything on, hehe! It gives me a visual of you very gleefully dressing each morning and "pop"! On goes the jacket! :)

Love this, Shannon! You look fab! The sandal/shoes are winners for you.

Lovely outfit. Sweet pose in pic#4 and the same dress with flats (#5) looks cool and comfortable for that BBQ. Have a great one and enjoy. BTW, I see yourjacket is a  Nygard. How does it fit? TTS or what? Thanks.

Oh, perfect! I'm very humbled to have inspired this, and if anything, there has been a cross pollination going on here. After all, the very same clutch came to me via you. How fun to think of that! Blazer and shoes are beautiful, and I love the mix of whites.

Like you said, simple and bold. I am so glad you are enjoying your new shoes so much.

  • Sona replied 10 years ago

love the way the white blazer, bone shoes and light clutch make the black sheath 'springy'. I love this!!

  • Tanya replied 10 years ago

Love evertyhing about this Shannon!  Such a crisp outfit.

Shevia - it's the debut of the shoes because I've only shown them in my thread about purchasing them and trying a few outfits to show the forum but haven't actually worn them yet. So today is their maiden voyage.

Joy - I think this is indeed my detox outfit. Sometimes you don't want too many pieces with too many details, you know?

Ceit - I think you're right. I can't believe I didn't own a white blazer. So the white leather jacket is perfect for the cooler weather and the white blazer is perfect for the warmer weather.

Raisin - glad I gave you a happy visual :) Actually that is kind of how I dress - I'm very much a morning person.

Suz - these shoe-sandals are total winners for sure. So glad I got them.

Ruthe - I have a few Nygard pieces and have been buying Nygard for years now. I do find their fit to be very TTS. I buy their petite line and it's just perfect for my 5 foot frame.

    Ingunn - :)

Thank you missvee, Runcarla, Mona, Sona and Tanya L)

BTW pre-YLF I would have NEVER mixed my whites.

Beautiful!  Welcome to Team White Blazer!!

  • Angie replied 10 years ago

    KILLER

I don't think you made rash wardrobe decisions at all. The white blazer and sandals followed the PPP rule to perfection. You were merely snappy about it!

  • catgirl replied 10 years ago

    Beautiful!  Those shoes are stunners.

  • ElleH replied 10 years ago

Fab outfit & great way to wear a black sheath in Spring.

  • Sara L. replied 10 years ago

It looks great!  I like the black and white and the light shoes make the white jacket look more purposeful against the black dress.

  • goldenpig replied 10 years ago

You look so great in black and white. Your hairstyle and color really complement the graphic look. And the white blazer and clutch and sandals, so fab. I would love to try a white blazer as you all look so great in them, but I can't get over the white coat association. Enjoy the hot dogs!

  • shedev replied 10 years ago

Shannon, you are are always simply stunning in black and white.

  • bj1111 replied 10 years ago

    Love. Those shoes kill me.

  • Sveta replied 10 years ago

    Simply beautiful.

MaryK - I can tell I'm going to really like Team White Blazer!

Angie - thank you :) I am extremely pleased with both my white blazer and silver/bone sandals so I am going to agree with you..."snappy" but not rash!

Una & bj1111 - thanks for the shoe love! After wearing these today I am absolutely sure these were meant to be MY white sandals - I don't think I would have loved what I thought I was looking for half as much. I got so many compliments and fun comments about the shoes today and my feet were happy, happy, happy all day.

Elle & Sara - I'm learning that a simple black sheath can be so incredibly versatile and cross seasons as well.

Natalie - I'm guessing that our fab docs would have more white coat/lab coat associations than others. You may change your mind one day.

    Shedev & Sveta - thank you :)

Our staff barbecue went great today - it was an absolutely beautiful day. And my casualization of my outfit worked perfectly.
