WIW: Chunky knit, orange skirt & snakeskin

Trying out the Angie formula of a chunky knit sweater with a skirt. I thrifted this chunky fisherman knit sweater about two weeks ago and I can't believe I like it! I always said I wouldn't/couldn't wear something like this but I guess you CAN teach an old dog new tricks!

I've paired this sweater with my orange knit pencil skirt, olive/taupe lace up boots and my snakeskin handbag. I like how the boots pick up the darker, taupe tones in the handbag. For jewelry, I'm wearing my gold watch and a chunky gold ring. On top of everything when I head out the door, I'm wearing my plaid cape. I always feel a little like Sherlock Holmes when I wear this cape - lol!

What do you think? Does this all work together? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

Cape: thrifted
Sweater: Nygard (thrifted)
Skirt: Winners
Boots: Clarks
Handbag: Elliott Lucca
Microfishnets: Hue
Watch & ring: thrifted

I love the simplicity of the sweater and skirt. But the texture and color add that extra interest which makes this outfit fantastic!

One of my favorite outfits ever. I must find a similar sweater!

Love it! Althought the cape stripe looks like it's actually red in pic #4, it picks up the orange of the skirt beautifully. And every time I see that purse I think I must have snakeskin bag. It seems to not only go with everything, it *elevates* every outfit!

I love this Shannon! To my eye, and I don't know why, the boots are what really finish the combination.

Thanks all! I have discovered that you cannot be invisible when wearing a cape - I always get several looks when walking around wearing it. Not sure if they're complimentary glances or "what the heck are you wearing" glances - lol!

BTW this is the first day I've worn this sweater and I absolutely love it! It's 100% cotton and so soft and cozy, I want to wear it every day.

Love the sweater. It's very flattering, I think because the cable knit vertical lines seem to be slimming, and don't have an overly chunky look.

Love the cape! LOVE! I would come up to you on the street to tell you so. The sweater - how did you thrift such a perfect find?

This is a great outfit. I have serious sweater envy. I thrifted and then gave away a similar sweater about a year ago. However, mine was wool and angora and was too warm and itchy for a menopausal woman. A soft cotton version would be perfect. Lock up that sweater.

Gorgeous! I have been looking at capes, but nothing I try on looks as smashing as the fit of your beautiful plaid creation! They all look huge on me, and I think you and I are of a similar body type. So now I know there is hope! Taking notes...

This has got to be your 2012 party costume! The plaid cape to die for! Orange! Big snakeskin bag! Chunky sweater over skirt and booties! You are so up to the minute! I love it all!

What a perfect chunky knit! Great job finding a cable knit that looks so slim. The cape over the top is awesome, too. Go, Sexy Sherlock Holmes!

SO FUN!! Especially with the cape! Now you just need a deerstalker hat! ;)

Great outfit! I love love love the laceup booties! The sweater is a great thrifted find. I recently thrifted a white fisherman's sweater also, but mine is more casual since it has a hoodie.
