WIW: Casual Eileen

This is how I know I'm going to love a wardrobe item - I can't wait to wear it again. And that's how I feel about this new EF dress. You are going to sick of seeing me in it! And now I'm really glad I am duplicating the dress with the blue version.

I started today's outfit with the dress and then added nude microfishnets and my knee high Blondo boots. We are into the major slush and mess of spring melt and these boots are perfect for that. On top of the dress, I'm debuting my new light wash denim and leather sleeved jacket. This jacket will be great as an actual outdoor jacket when warm enough and will also work as an indoor topper with scrunched sleeves. I also think the light faded denim is a nod to spring, even though we still have at least 6 feet of snow on the ground.

I chose my olive/cobalt snakeskin clutch for some texture and colour, purple & clear specs and a swipe of burgundy lipstick to finish off the outfit.

What do you think? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

Awesome outfit, Shannon! The EF dress is fab and you know it. Look at the smile on your face. How could we ever be sick of seeing that?! The mixed media jacket looks great with the dress, as does the snakeskin clutch. The boots are also quite sharp… a very stylish way to handle "mud season".

Love that jacket with the EF dress. I can see why you can hardly wait to wear it.

Smart casual, and you look fab! You always get it right, Shannon. I love how the leather sleeves add a little modern to this classic ensemble.

Great! Fir sime reason I was not so wowed by the jacket back when, but here it looks terrific, and I think it looks especially good " juxtaposed" with the more formal black items so the light denim stands out.

The dress looks like a great workhorse! The clutch is so pretty too.

Oh, wow, I love the mix of faded denim with the more structured black pieces. You look great Shannon.

    Six feet of snow??!

  • Suz replied 10 years ago

Quintessential Shannon. Structure, column of colour (or neutral), a bit of rugged, a bit of polish. And lots of sass.

I love this whole look. The faded denim vest really contrasts nicely with the cool and effortless looking column of black. It's both sassy and stylish!

You're not going to know how you managed before that dress joined your wardrobe:). I am really taken with how dressy and professional this outfit looks especially with the mixed media jacket, particularly the denim aspect. Fabulous outfit.

You are on a real roll, Shannon!  This is fun and professional, and perfectly suited to the changing weather  I'm excited to see the blue, too -- I imagine dark blue is beautiful on you.

I actually saw a tiny bit of grass in my backyard this morning.  Yeah.  It was dead grass, but it's still progress!

Love it Shannon!! That jacket is brilliant!

Love the jacket and you will love the dress in blue just as much!

    Looks good, Shannon!

leopardluxe - the denim is actually a jacket, not a vest. The dark sleeves fooled you :)  But this is interesting because I have a black blazer with a graffiti-esque front and a black sleeved cardigan with animal print front that both look like vests when worn with black. I obviously like that kind of look.

Suz - I guess this is my kind of look, isn't it?

Beth Ann - I'm so jealous that you can see a bit of grass. We won't see any grass for at least another 1-2 months :(

unfrumped - juxtaposition is something I really enjoy in an outfit so that you for noticing.

This dress is now officially my favorite item in my closet - it is sooooo incredibly comfortable and moves with such fluidity but without excess fabric. I'm a huge fan and can hardly wait until my blue one arrives.

    Thank you all :)

I love that dress and bet you'll get a ton of wear out of it. Glad to see another Eileen fan (even though most of her stuff doesn't fit me anymore :( )

IK - I am definitely becoming an EF fan. The quality is fantastic and oh so comfy. And her petite sizing works really well for me. I just need to choose her pieces that have a bit more shape because he draping can quickly overwhelm me. That's too bad her stuff doesn't fit you anymore but take comfort in how fit and fantastic you look!

I will never, ever, ever get sick of seeing this on you. I'm just going to be jealous - I wish EF didn't overwhelm my frame so I could look as amazing as you.

Ooh, so much fun pairing the jacket with those boots! And the dress is a great backdrop. Having duplicated a few items myself, I know just how you feel. :D
