WIW: Cargo's & White

One of the items on my Spring shopping list was a pair of olive green slim fitting cargo pants. I found them on the weekend and am debuting them today. The pants are a dark rich green (hopefully they don't look black on your screen) and are sized up skinnies. The SA was concerned that they were too big and might stretch too much, but at $29 they are worth the risk. They have the side cargo pockets and a nice little detail of brass snaps on an asymmetrical angle at the ankle (sorry I forgot to snap a close up of that). The pants need hemming but for today, I've simply cuffed them.

I've paired the cargo pants with my favourite pullover of all time - my white laser cut "skin polka dot" drapey pullover. I've semi tucked so that my snakeskin belt can peek out for some pattern. I've also added more white and pattern on my feet with my python booties. I've added my large cream handbag and red specs for accessories.

I've already played in my closet with these pants and am amazed at how versatile the colour and style is.

What do you think? Does this outfit work? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

Pullover: Nygard
Pants: Ricki's

I think it is a stellar outfit. I would not have thought to pair the white with the olive and since I have olive cargo pants I am going to try that this week! Thanks Shannon. The boots are fabulous with it as well.

Super flattering cargos and I see why you love that white sweater - fantastic!

Love this to pieces, reminds me of Angie's ensemble of combat pants with white and red accents from March last year.

Aah....fresh and perfect!! That sweater is lovely too. And skinny cargos are very hard to find .. So that's definitely a score!!! Nice juxtaposition of tough and feminine ... Love it :)

You bet it works! I love how the top makes the outfit look happy.

Great outfit!  Just love the color of the cargo pants :)

I got olive ponte  pants last fall and yeah, they pretty much function as a neutral like denim. The only thing I don't love them with so far is emerald/grass (cooler) greens. I love them with brown, burgundy, blush, navy....

These will be great "3 season" pants, Shannon!  I like the slouch and the deep olive will look terrific with navy, burgundy, etc.  And the sweater is so very springlike!

Fab new pants, Shannon! You look fresh and so pretty!

Thank you ladies :)  So far the bagging out has not been significant. And I love how soft the fabric is on these pants.

Glory - I love olive and white together - give it a try and I think you'll be pleasantly surprised!

Lantana - I had forgotten about Angie's combat pants ensemble - and now you've given me MORE ideas!

Jules - glad to hear you have found your pants to be so versatile and thanks for the color pairing suggestions.

    Great outfit, love your sweater!!!

Love your new cargos! They look especially fresh and fab paired with white. Terrific outfit! (I, too, own cargo pants that are sized up skinnies and adore the slouchier fit… especially in the warmer months.)

GEEEZZZZ, those are awesome, Shannon  !!!!

  • rae replied 10 years ago

Great slouchy skinnies! Sometimes SAs don't know what we're after here at YLF. ;) I really love the sweater, too - gives that perforated trend look without all the extra breeze!

Very cool!  Love the dotty sweater with the flattering cargos and the touches of snake.  Which exact model of pants are those?  I'm in the market....

ETA: or maybe just available in Canada?

  • Aida replied 10 years ago

Love it! Great pants, they look perfectly slouchy. All the white accents here make me happy :D

I love the look of olive+black but don't wear it because it gets me down, so I'd been thinking of HEY change that to olive+WHITE and I'd be in business! Just pinned this look from the fall collections as inspiration. Well here's further inspiration that it clearly works and looks fab. I need to give it a go!

What fab trousers! Love the spring-y white with them and your fab booties and belt accessorise to perfection.

  • Thistle replied 10 years ago

So gorgeous!  I just love the look. The breezy top, the slouchy skinnies, and the booties are the icing.  You look terrific, comfortable, and confident.

Great look.  I have olive cargo's that I wear all the time and I don't think I've ever paired them with white.  Think I'll copy this.

  • Kiwichik replied 10 years ago

Love the slouchy look of the cargo pants and I can see why that sweater is a favourite

  • Transcona Shannon replied 10 years ago

Interesting how most of you didn't think of pairing the olive with white and for me, it was the first combination I thought of - lol!

Rae - you are so right. The SA was very sweet and not pushy but I could tell she was confused by me not wanting the skinnies to be tighter.

Rabbit - the pants are from a Canadian retail store called Ricki's. I don't think they exist in the U.S.

Loving the casual cargos for work. You are a Fresh Spring Vision of Fabness. Go Team White Accents. xo

  • Caro in Oz replied 10 years ago

Love this & will copy as soon as the weather cooperates :)

  • unfrumped replied 10 years ago

I like the amount if slouch while still having some shape lines, if that is not an oxymoron.
I think that's the great thing about the array of fits now--slim BF , slouchy skinny, curvy straight or whatever! Eventually something will work to give fit + fluid in the right places.

  • pil replied 10 years ago

Shannon, I want this entire outfit :)

  • BethL replied 10 years ago

I love olive and white together, Shannon. That's my usual combination as well, often with coral accents. Great pants! I really like how well your boots work with this pairing, too - lots of nice texture and shading. Such a lovely bag, too. Yeah, I want the entire outfit, too.

  • shedev replied 10 years ago

Nice look, Shannon. I just got new olive cargos, and will do this look soon.
