WIW: Burgundy & White

I suspect the CPW on these burgundy skinnies is pennies by now - they have been a major workhorse item in my wardrobe this past fall/winter. I wish they would photograph in the actual burgundy colour that they are 'cause they always look black. Oh well.

Today I've paired the skinnies with my Gap mesh sleeve white pull over. The pull over is a bit too big on me but hopefully the semi tuck reins it in enough. I've added my snakeskin belt and my python booties for a bit of pattern. The white in the booties bookends the white pull over. I chose my large cream handbag to continue the white theme and am debuting my new watch (sorry for the horrid picture of it). It's a Fossil wrap watch with the leather being a light beige/silver colour and the face is white and silver. I wanted a lighter coloured watch for spring/summer and I love the design of this one. It was a steal on eBay.

What do you think? Does this give a hint of Spring while still keeping me warm? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

Pull over: Gap
Skinnies: Attitude by Jay Manuel

    Su Per La Tive.
I adore this and want to copycat immediately even though it's time for bed.
You look simply gorgeous Shannon and yes, looks Springy to me. Penny

So fresh! I don't think the pullover looks too long when you semi tuck. I love that pullover. I think your outfits always hit the right note. You are a pro!

Really good -- I need to pull my mesh-sleeve sweaters out and get them in the rotation too!

    I like this!

  • Alexandra replied 10 years ago

Yes, all that white says spring to me. Lovely outfit!

Cheers for the white bag!  I think you hit just the right note.

Would be really excited to see it's original burgundy color(maybe in a detail pictie), because yes, it looks black:-((. It's almost the same look I did yesterday, so I'm taking notes:-)

Love it! Looks very comfortable and at the same time like spring is around the corner.

Love it! Looks fresh and perfect for the transition into Spring!

Fabulous look, Shannon! You are right -- I think that semi-tucking the oversized pullover does add sufficient structure to the outfit. The burgundy + shades of white combo looks very fresh and is a good nod to Spring. Love your new watch.

Perfect - forgot cpw those skinnies are worth their weight in gold.

  • Suz replied 10 years ago

I love this. Absolutely love. I have had my eye on a watch like that, too! Not on ebay--- I didn't think of that. Very clever. I may have to follow your lead.

Penny - you would look rather silly copying this outfit to climb into bed, don't you think? Lol!

kerry - oh believe me, I am FAR from a pro! But being on YLF is certainly helping.

Ceit - weren't these Gap pull overs great purchases?

lyn67 - I'll have to try and get an accurate pic of the color of these skinnies for you.

El Cee - it never ceases to amaze me how much a semi tuck can change an outfit. Such a clever trick and one I am always grateful to Angie to for showing us.

Suz - check out eBay. They have quite a few Fossil watches on there and this one was brand new in the Fossil tin with price tag and warranty. It was half the price of it new. I like the "softness" of the colors of this watch - I have a white one that I also wear in summer but was looking for something a little more subtle but still light colored.

Thanks Jenny, Alexandra, Nicole, Astrid, Leopardluxe and Shevia  :)

Burgundy and white is such a crisp combo. Loving the touch of snakeskin with it. Gorgeous as always.

A perfect casual Friday look. xo

Wonderful look and your haircut is so fantastic!

Yes!  Cream is such a nice "warm" way to do a lighter color.  Even with the longer days, pastels still seem a little "cold" to me when the weather is still cold --- except perhaps for blush and yellow.

Love the bits of animal print and the new watch and great bag!

Wonderful transitional outfit, Shannon. Burgundy looks great with cream and white, and the overall impression is "Spring". Your new watch is gorgeous! The texture on your belt and booties adds interest. As usual, you are living up to your own high standards.

Shannon, I love how you describe your outfits - taking apart each item and why you chose it. I often feel like all I can manage is "I wore this with that" and "Well, the mirror didn't shatter when I walked past it, so I figured it was all good!"

The semi-tuck totally reins in the Gap pull over (which is beautifully drapey, btw), and I love those snakeskin booties!

You make this look so effortless! I can just imagine the color, too. Way to pair it with white for spring. :D

  • catgirl replied 10 years ago

I swear I chimed in here before... This is a fabulous look and I am sorry I gave away my burgundy skinnies now!

  • Vicki replied 10 years ago

Hey, wait a minute!  It's spring here and I have that same Gap mesh sweater.  Thank you for showing me what to do in the days ahead, Shannon.  You look marvelous and are an inspiration to me again and again.  Enjoy your spring days and may they get better and better.

Love this!  It's similar to something I wore and loved on vacation recently!
