WIW: Black & White slouch

When I posted these slouchy trousers as a new item, there were some concerns expressed about whether they were a tad short. In the reveal pics, I was wearing black and white shoes. Angie suggested I try the trousers with black pointy toes to elongate the leg line. Since I'm going out at lunch today and again right after work, I'm not wearing my black pointy toe pumps but rather my black patent pointy toe booties.

I've paired the trousers with my black and white graphic tee and topped that with my white leather jacket. My black handbag, red specs and red lipstick finish off the outfit.

So does the pointy toed black footwear help with the length of the trousers? I also am wearing them a little lower on the waist as CocoLion suggested. Does the outfit work? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

Jacket & handbag: Danier Leather
Tee: Smart Set
Trousers: Reitmans
Boots: Ara

The length looks right to me - of course it is hard to see with black on black but that is the idea. I love this and everything you wear with that white jacket!

Yes, Shannon - it works -- this is what I do with my "slightly too short" pants as well. And I love this outfit.

This looks great! I love the black and white combination. The pant length looks right to me in these pictures.

  • leopardluxe replied 10 years ago

This definitely mitigates the "too short" look of the pants. I think the black on black with pointy toes does the trick!

So glad the length can work with the right footwear 'cause I really quite love these slouchy trousers. The fabric feels soooooooo good on and this is just the right amount of slouch for me - in fact, these are the Goldilocks trousers - not too much slouch and not too little. They are just right!

Shannon, I didn't see your new item post, so I can't compare, but you look great! The pants with the pointy boots makes a nice column of color, and the view from the side looks like the right length. The white jacket with the graphic tee is just perfect; the whole thing "zings" on you. Love that lipcolor. What is it?

  • Transcona Shannon replied 10 years ago

Beth - thank you so much for your kind comments :) The lipcolor is Red Boutique by Lise Watier. I recently switched to her lipsticks and love the staying power along with the moisturizing effects.

    Beautiful outfit, Shannon!
It's really hard to tell about the length of the pants, but they do look like they have the perfect amount of slouch, and that fine balance isn't easy to achieve.
I like your booties with it, although they don't look all that pointy to me. Maybe it's just the picture.
I love the white jacket; it's the perfect completer piece and gives your outfit a springy feeling. You look fabulous!

Booties make them looking PPL! Love your  bl&w-s!:-)

  • Emily replied 10 years ago

You look great!  I love the black and white graphic tee making sort of a gradient between the black trousers and white jacket.

  • Inge replied 10 years ago

I say mission accomplished, Shannon. Adore this look on you with the B&W graphic tee and your stunning jacket (what a winner that has proven to be).

  • Aida replied 10 years ago

Love it! I think the length works well with the tonal booties. Will that reduce the pants' usage if they're limited to black booties or ankle strapped shoes? I just love the graphic look of this outfit, that's a fun top.

  • catgirl replied 10 years ago

Good fix! How I love that shirt on you!

  • Petite Marj replied 10 years ago

    Perfect from head to toe!

  • Transcona Shannon replied 10 years ago

Parsley - I guess the booties aren't super pointy toed but they are pointier than almond shaped.

Lyn - black and white will always be my favourite color combo to wear.

Inge - I honestly never thought a white leather jacket would be as versatile as this one has turned out to be. So glad I found this one.

Aida - I don't think the black footwear will make the trousers too limited. I can wear them with my pointy toe pumps and then in warm weather with black high vamp sandals.

Una - isn't it funny how a $20 tee can turn out to be just as fab a wardrobe piece as a $300 leather jacket?

    Thanks everyone :)

Shannon, I love this outfit!!! Love the casual/polish combo.

As for the shoes, I can't really tell if they are pointy. What I can say though, is you definitely have a longer leg line!

  • Joy replied 10 years ago

Shannon, it all works. You look wonderful! The graphic tee with white jacket is an idea that I want to copy.

  • Beth Ann replied 10 years ago

I was waiting for another Shannon post!  I had a long day and just now logged on for some fab time ---  This is marvleous!  Yep, the low contrast shoes are just the ticket, and the graphic tee is both feminine and arty.  And the Danier?  Making me jealous, as usual!

(P.S. the bits of red are a great signature for you).

  • Ingunn replied 10 years ago

Oh yes, it definitely works! You had me by the title of your post, as black, slouch and white are among my favorites right now. I love the outfit as is, but since I'm so much in love with my own new Danier cream colored bag, I think you could try to swap the black bag for your white one to lighten up the outfit a tad and bring more white to the lower part of your outfit. Or are the shades of white on the leathers dissimilar? Your jacket is just perfect, Shannon.

  • Day Vies replied 10 years ago

I love the fit of the jacket combined with the slouch of the trouser. I also love the depth & texture the top adds.

  • Inge replied 10 years ago

I so hear you, Shannon, I wear mine all the time too.

  • Debra replied 10 years ago

Looking good, I love that jacket :)
