WIW: Burgundy, Grey & Texture

I decided to wear an old favourite today - my Gap boucle knit dress. I think the CPW must be down to about 15 cents by now!

I paired the dress with a wide suede burgundy belt with brass studs on it and bookended the burgundy colour with my burgundy suede Mary-Jane pumps. I then added further texture by using my grey snakeskin clutch and a metallic cuff with faux diamond studs embedded.

I topped it all with a silver trench with wide lapels and clear buttons. I thrifted this about a month ago and absolutely love the colour. I should have done it up to show you how well it fits - I'll do that another time, I promise.

What do you think? Do the colours and proportions work well in this outfit? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

Dress: Gap
Belt: Danier Leather (thrifted)
Shoes: Clarks
Trench: Ricki's (thrifted)
Cuff: thrifted
Clutch: Sondra Roberts (thrifted)

You look chic. I love your trench and it fits you perfectly. (envy)

Fab trench Shannon. I also think the dress is gorgeous. Love boucle. My only suggestion would be for a slimmer belt. No question this works, however I just find the size of the belt is a little distracting to the whole outfit. But FWIW I do tend to favor low contrast so I could be wrong:)

TS: will you be cold in the office without your trench? If so I might have added a cropped/short jacket. Otherwise I like the tweed with red. nice trench too!

Love the dress, love the trench, love the clutch, but really, most of all, Iove how you put it all together.

Great outfit, Shannon!! You have the best thrifting karma ever. No wonder you find it difficult to quit. Your thrifting purchases helps to round out your wardrobe and add pieces that you may not wear all that often, but that absolutely MAKE an outfit when it comes time to put a new combination together. Um..can you tell I love that trench and have serious trench envy?!

I can see what Deborah is saying about the belt, but this one works to my eye.

I like the color contrast with the burgundy and grey. The trench and the clutch really pull the look together.

    Thanks for your replies!

Deborah - I understand what you're saying about the belt. It's definitely not to everyone's taste. I'll try a slimmer belt next time and see how I like it in comparison.

Sona - I was kind of regretting not having a blazer on as the office was chilly this morning but was warm in the afternoon. No worries!

Like you're all liking the trench!

That belt is really cool! Love the studs. The coat is fun also - dressier than the average trench - me likey.
