WIW: Breezy Blouse for yet another scorching day

Not only has it been crazy hot here, the humidity is enough to make even my poker straight hair curl! So a breezy, light blouse was a must for today.

I'm breaking out my recently thrifted silk Laura Petites short-sleeved blouse that has different shades of blues and greens throughout. I've paired it with my white clams, cream coloured loafers and my green handbag, and popped on my white watch.

I'm happy with how this looks and I think I'm going to wear the heck out of this blouse. Even with the cami underneath, it is so light and airy.

What do you think? Proportions and combination ok? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

Blouse: Laura Petites (thrifted)
Clams: Reitmans
Shoes: Rockport (thrifted)
Watch: thrifted
Handbag: thrifted

Oj that looks super comfy! And the clams are a perfect backdrop. Enjoy the heat...I remember baking in it when young!

What a cooling color palette. You look great!

Looks great for staying cool. I am learning to embrace the cotton woven tops this year as opposed to my ubiquitous "fancy" tee. They really to breathe well when they don't cling!

That top is beautiful Shannon. It looks great on you! I love it with the white clams. The proportions look very good to me.

That green bag is fantastic! Every time I see you with it I think about how you would never find a bag like that in a thrift store here. I think too many people scoop up all the decent bags to resell as soon as they are put out. I thrift often and I have never seen a good bag.

Love everything here: top, clams, bag, shoes --- and each item an updated 'retro classic'! Wow! Easy, breezy and very fresh on a hot summer day.

I'm not sure... the clams look wide and I think they can be a bit shortening with the high vamp flats.... you look comfy though. Stay cool on this hot hot day.

You look like a tall drink of ice water with a slice of lime! Very refreshing! I especially love that shirt.

Can you try rolling up the clams once or twice so that the hem stays closer to your leg line?

Thanks all - as per Sunita's suggestion, I have rolled the clams up one roll (they actually have a sewn in small roll to begin with so don't want them too bulky) and it has helped to narrow the leg and give me a bit more length.

You make me think of Claire and how she wears visually cooling colors - hope you are beating the heat! It has been gray here for a couple days... what a strange summer.

@Rae-thanks, it's been grey here too. Very, very strange for us. Still hot though.

Shannon I love this blouse and the fact that it's silk makes me love it even more! And some people think you can't find petite items in thrift/consignment stores. I see a lot of them, as do you (obviously). They're usually mixed in with everything else though. Hope you keep cool in the heat today!

    Crisp, cool and refreshing!

Looks so fresh and cool, Shannon, perfect antidote for the weather. You also seem to live in thrift-paradise as you keep posting gem after gem after gem after ... (tell me when to stop)... after gem after gem after gem ...

    Cool, breezy, and summery!

    Very Euro.

    So cute!

Blue and green shades of your blouse are so cool and calming.

  • Jjsloane replied 11 years ago

Love the blouse colors. I think I would prefer a bit shorter or tapered on the bottoms or a different shoe (kid of what Rita alluded to) but you look ready to tackle the heat.

    That blouse is gorgeous
