WIW: Black, white & holes all over

My word, I'm tired this morning. This menopausal insomnia is getting to me - thank goodness for concealer and bright lipstick!

Today's outfit started with my silky long shorts (love these things!) to which I paired my white laser cut hole-y sweater. I really like the weight of this knit sweater because it semi-tucks and slouches just perfectly. A simple black leather belt completed the outfit. Then for footwear, I chose my bone laser cut oxfords - I like how the holes in the shoes mimic the holes in the sweater. Finishing touch was my over sized snakeskin print clutch. Jewelry is my black and white oversized watch and silver wedding band.

I really like how this turned out - dare I say I feel "kinda cool"? Anyway, what do you think? do the pieces and proportions all work together? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

Sweater: Nygard
Shorts: Baby Phat (thrifted)
Belt: Danier Leather
Shoes: Dolce Vita
Clutch: XOXO (thrifted)

Love black and white and this looks great on you  - I agree, cool. Those shorts turned out to be the best thrifting find! Have a great day and hopefully some coffee will wake you up a bit.

I want your lipstick Shannon... love it... You look fab as always no signs of insomnia :)

Very chic. Your hair is looking insanely good Shannon.
    Sorry about the insomnia.

Gorgeous! This is such a lovely fresh look. I adore the shoes, they totally make the outfit.

  • Suz replied 10 years ago

Super cute with the fun unexpected bag, Shannon.

I am with you on the sleep. In my case it was the cat keeping me up. He would not come in, but then came howling at the window at 2 am, and then I couldn't get back to sleep after I admitted him to the house. Oy.

You are more than "kinda" cool in my book Shannon! I am waiting for two suitcases that are supposed to be delivered soon and one of them contains my new (well new to me) silky shorts. You know where I am going to look for styling inspiration - thanks!

Glory - it's funny how an urban brand like Baby Phat turned out to work on a 50-year-old - lol!

Ramya - this has been my go-to red lipstick for years now. The Body Shop #52.

Deborah - these shoes were sooooo difficult to break in but they are now one of my most comfortable pair. They have also turned me into an Oxford lover.

Suz - oh yes, our sweet kitty cats and their strange habits. Gain is quite often convinced that 4:00 a.m. should be breakfast feeding time.

Shevia - ack! Can hardly wait to see you in your silky shorts :)

Fabulous, I like the laser cut shoes and fresh white sweater. The addition of snakeskin in the bag is fab.
Sorry about the insomnia, I would be the same if it wasn't for my meds which knock me out at night. A handy side effect :) You still look great though and I'd never know you were sleep deprived.

Love this "cool" look! And the clutch is the icing on the cake :) Two thumbs up!

You look really good even with a loss of sleep (which I can relate to - I can never get comfortable at night anymore - one more reason I can't wait for this baby to be born).  I like the black and white combo with the perforated shoes and holey sweater.

Love all the perforations. Very cute outfit.

My medical person suggested that I take my magnesium & calcium supplements at night, rather than in the morning. And it helped. It was an easy change to make. I still lie awake occasionally, but not as often. I also try to get hard exercise every day.

Wonderful b/w look, Shannon.  The silhouette is modern, but also easy and flattering.

    Better luck sleeping tonight!

  • Ariadne replied 10 years ago

Very nice look on you!  And we're shoe twins.

  • Sylvie replied 10 years ago

I think you could call yourself "definitely cool". :)
