WIW: Animal print & bomber

I can already tell my recently purchased animal print pencil skirt is going to be a favourite and a workhorse. MaryK is right - animal print goes with everything!

Today I've paired the skirt with a simple black tank topped with my white and black bomber jacket. I wasn't sure at first about a bomber with skirts and dresses but Angie has completely won me over with this look. Because I have a day with a bit of running around, my footwear choice is my trusty black Clarks sandals. Plus it's going to be crazy hot here again so no closed shoes today. I'm busting out my newly thrifted quilted beige handbag as well - for some reason, it photographs more yellow than it truly is (maybe because of my yellow-ish wall colour in the background?). It's actually the exact same colour as the beige spots in the skirt. Jewelry is my gold wedding band and my rose gold/black watch. (sorry for forgetting my lipstick for the pic!)

So what do you think? Does it all work together? As always all comments/suggestions welcome.

Bomber: Material Girl
Tank: Cleo Petite
Skirt: Sears
Handbag: Elizabeth Grant (thrifted)
Sandals: Clarks
Watch: Fossil

Thumbs way up Shannon! I love the colourblocking of the jacket contrasted with the softness of the skirt.

    Does it all work together?

Does the wind blow in Winnipeg??

Jeepers, woman! You could not possibly look more fab! I am completely head over heels in love with this skirt and need to go to Sears to check it out even though I don't need a skirt, for heaven's sake.

Love that look, Shannon.  Very nice pairings- the white looks fresh with it and you are taking it all to the next level.  The beige bag is great with it and if you wanted to add a pop of red, you could do that also.  That skirt is the perfect stage for your great wardrobe and accessories.  Your proportions look spot on also.

This is a perfect early fall combination!  Animal print is so versatile, can't wait to see how else you pair this.

You look super sleek in this. The bomber has perfect proportions for the skirt.

You look great! I love the jacket with the skirt and your new bag is perfect.

    Killer

    Delicious.

I wore my lace bomber twice in the last few days so high five. Animal print IS a neutral.

I really like this look, Shannon.

Not a fan of the bag. But I love the outfit on you.

Ooh, love love. The bomber makes the animal skirt look so modern!

Love the outfit! Not crazy about the bag, though. Even though it "goes" with the skirt, to my eye it doesn't go with the white in the jacket. Clearly I am in the minority. LOL  I'll second the suggestion of trying a red purse.

This looks really great together - love everything about it!

Love this, Shannon. You really have a great eye and a fantastic closet!

So bomber + animal print skirt = good. Handbag = not so good.

Next time will try my red quilted handbag - the pop of red would be great.

    Thanks ladies :)

Oh...quick question....not like the handbag in general or just with this outfit?

  • annagybe replied 10 years ago

I think the bag looks cheap.

  • Transcona Shannon replied 10 years ago

Probably 'cause it was - lol!

Very flattering silhouette, Shannon, and a great new combination.  A bomber style over the disciplined structure of a pencil skirt is brilliant.

I love the shape and size of the purse, actually, and I find that shiny surfaces don't look expensive -- even when they are, but I still like 'em!
