WIW: A midi with flats!

Well this is a step out of my comfort zone, that's for sure! I'm pairing my black tiered midi skirt with my two-tone flats. Normally I would wear heels but I want to see if this works for a shortie like me. I've added my drapey-cowl neck sleeveless polka dot tank to the skirt and topped it with my red Gap blazer. I need to get this blazer to Wonder Woman to have the sleeves shortened but wanted to wear it one more time before I send it off. I've added my two tone handbag to mimic the shoes and a silver bangle for accessories.

So does this work? Can a petite wear flats with a midi length skirt? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

Blazer: Gap
Skirt: Laura Petites
Tank: Winner's
Shoes: Shelly London (thrifted)
Handbag: Danier Leather (thrifted)

YES! It helps that your skirt is just at the bottom of your knee. This is to chic and tailored that you are nowhere near the frumpy zone. I love it!

You may feel out of your comfort zone, but you look like you're smack in the middle of it -- flats are "French," not frump!

Great outfit! The shoes look good with the skirt length and I would never guess from these pictures that you are short.

    *sigh of relief*

Good to know this works ok - I'd like to explore the world of flats a bit more so that I have other shoe options (I bet you like the sound of that Angie?!).

Sara - yep, I'm a whopping 5 feet tall (with maybe an extra half inch on a good hair day)

Works perfectly. That skirt length is ideal for the shoe switcheroo!

Love this! As Angie has noted, flats with a midi is nicely edgy! You look fab!

Your outfit looks super cute! The proportions actually look perfect! I'll bet you will feel extra comfy today with your flats on instead of heels. I really love this outfit!

  • Jonesy replied 11 years ago

This looks fab! I think the flats work really well, and everything fits you to perfection.

  • Transcona Shannon replied 11 years ago

MaryK - it's interesting you point out Angie's comment about flats being edgy because that's kind of how I feel today.

    Thanks Suz, Jem and Jonesy!

It looks chic and classy, I love these flats on you!

  • rae replied 11 years ago

Ooh, how did I miss this? Love it and agree the flats feel edgier, not the obvious choice. I'm hoping to wear my flat boots with midis as well!

  • jayne replied 11 years ago

I expected flats to frumpify but quite the opposite...you look super sophisticated and ladylike....go TS!

  • Transcona Shannon replied 11 years ago

Thanks Victoria, Rae and Jayne! Who would have thought of flats as edgy?

I think it looks great. I have a hard time wearing this look but now it seems it's more of a "how it feels" than how it looks. I am noting to copy this (I think I have almost the exact outfit hanging around somewhere)
