In my Random Musings thread the other day (http://youlookfab.com/welookfa.....om-musings) I had commented about my higher heeled shoes being uncomfortable and my inability to wear anything now days over about 2 inches.
I have done some high heel shoe purging but did keep my Kate Spade cobalt patent pumps for dressier occasions and my green Poetic Licence pumps which are actually quite comfortable. My other shoes are lower heeled so ok to wear and my boots seem to be fine. My Doc Martens animal print Danielle shoes and my Doc Sara oxfords are in the "holding zone" for now.
What I was left without was a pair of black pumps for work wear. Now that the warmer weather is arriving I'm wanting to get out of my boots/booties some and wear shoes. But my Clarks Mary-Jane pumps were the ones that made my knee ache and were purged so now I needed to find a replacement.
Off I went yesterday to The Bay to see what they had. I did find Cole Haan kitten heeled Air Juliana pumps which were incredibly comfortable but only available in Sandstone patent in my size. No black in my size and they did not think they were getting in any more. Tried on several that were downright painful but then spied these...Calvin Klein all leather (inside and out) 1.5" kitten heel, rubber grip sole on the bottom, pointy toe, pretty little black pump. I tried them on (yay - they had my size!) and oh my...I think my feet were smiling with comfort :) Needless to say, I bought them and here they are.
I really like how I feel in these shoes (going back to our "happiness factor"). My feet feel pretty in them and so does the rest of me. I like the ladylike refinement of them and the slight retro vibe (at least in my mind). They are very similar to my Enzo Angiolini pumps (pic #4)) but those have cut out circles and shapes and are really only meant for summer.
I think these Calvin Klein pumps are going to help me in my desire to merge my love of retro with a bit of urban minimalism.
What do you think?

Very brave of you on the shoe cull. It is difficult I know. Some shoes just impact the knee and there is little reason sometimes - even flats can do it. These are classic and lovely. I can see them working well with your simplistic style but also jazzed up with some jeans for a weekend date with Mr Shannon.

These are beautiful! Can I borrow them on Tuesday? :) Your kitties are adorable. Do they ever sit like that and then start mauling each other for no reason? When we had two they would do that - suddenly bust out in a fight and then go back to sleep peacefully.

Lyn - my two kitty cats are from a no kill rescue shelter. Dusty Bottom is named that because he was found in a wooden box full of sawdust and nailed shut in a ditch beside a gravel road. Someone had badly beaten him and then nailed him in this box and just tossed him out - something I DO NOT understand at all. When the rescue shelter pulled his little body out of the box, all the sawdust stuck to his bottom they said "oh look at his little dusty bottom" and his name was coined.

Una - I think we wear almost the same size don't we? If I thought I could overnight express these to you, I'd be happy to loan them :) And oh yeah, the boys will be sitting sweetly and then all of a sudden someone pounces on the other one and away they go wrestling and then just as quickly, there's a mutual grooming session and then back to sleep. It's just hilarious.
Ingunn - yes, both kitties are male. They were roommates at the rescue shelter and really love each other. We went to just get one cat but couldn't separate them so brought them both home.
Thanks for the shoe love ladies - I think they are are going to be incredibly versatile.

Very nice little pumps and if they are comfortable - what else a gal might want? :-) This kind of shoe purging can be quite heart-wrenching, I am glad that blue KS and green wedges survived the purge: they are beauties!

Your kitties are so cute. It is funny how they go from cuddling to fighting to grooming in a blink but I guess this is their feline nature to have instant mood swings... not unlike us gals, eh? :-)

My most comfortable shoes have been Calvin Klein - have had quite a few styles and not a miss in the bunch. Love that heel (just my style so of course I would) and it's a classic little pump you will get tons of wear from.

Firecracker - it's funny you mention liking the pumps with the rolled jeans. I was surprised at how much I liked the look too and am now checking out all sorts of outfits on Pinterest combining those items. I can see trying some sort of combination on Casual Friday.

Sveta - there was just no way I could part with my KS or Poetic Licence pumps. They are faves.
Karie - don't you just love black and white cats? That way they can get both our black AND white clothes covered in hair - lol!
Christieanne - that's great to hear how comfy you find Calvin Klein shoes. This is my first pair but based on the fit of these, I could see myself turning to that brand again. And yes - thanks goodness for heel height options!

They're fantastic! Thanks for the tip too - I'm going to check out some CK shoes to see if I can handle them. I have been looking for comfy black kitten heels for a long time to replace an old, dated, but comfy pair. Do you happen to know the name of this style?

Diana - they are Nicki Kid Skin pumps, style #E4030. And for me, they are true to size. I wear a 6.5 and that's what these are. And surprisingly, they are not too narrow across the top, which I can sometimes have trouble with in this style of shoe. Good luck - I hope you can find them and they work out for you!

The heels and the boys are adorable! I have to say, when I had a foot comfort crisis a while back when starting at the Rack, I just about had a meltdown. You are weathering this shoe purge SO much better. And how awesome is it that the heels are lined in leather? It peeves me so. oh. so. much. when leather shoes are lined in synthetics.

Your boys are amazingly cute. Such a sad story, but he has an amazing home now. Thank goodness for people like you! I remember hearing somewhere to watch how people treat animals. It tells you a great deal about them.
