What I exchanged the navy blazer for

I returned the navy blazer last night to the thrift store where I bought it. The problem with the thrift store is there is no refund - exchange only and within 7 days. Yesterday was the 7th day so I had to come home with something. This is part of the reason I am working on cutting down on my thrifting - mistakes can be a pain in the butt.

But I did find three things that I'm quite pleased with. Before going any further and looking at the pictures, my apologies for the photo quality. Having some problems with my camera right now plus my hair isn't done and I have no make up on - been cleaning out the laundry room today.

First is a fabulous white with navy stripe boat neck pull over with teal green cuffs and bottom band from Cleo. This is my version of the Breton striped sweater that many Fabbers have. I'm thrilled with this find as I've been looking around for a primarily white with stripes casual knit for fall to wear with jeans. This will work beautifully.

Second are a pair of suede leather dark forest green Ralph Lauren pumps. Despite the heel height these are incredibly comfortable. And I love the slightly unexpected colour. I can see wearing these a lot with pencil skirts, my black sheath dress and even some trousers.

Third is a blush (although it photographed quite yellow) quilted patent leather Elizabeth Grant handbag with gold hardware and chain handle. This isn't a fab brand by any means but it is leather and I love the look of the bag and it's a colour I don't have. This will have to be my version of a Chanel...for now anyway!

So I hope these three finds are better than the navy blazer and meet with your approval. Obviously I wouldn't wear them all together but this was the easiest way to do the pictures. I'm looking forward to styling them in the near future.

Hope you're all having a wonderful Saturday!

Great transformation! I think those pieces will settle nicely into your wardrobe!

Cant go wrong with those classics. You will get lots of wear out of those stripes.
I went to vv last month on 1/2 price day. I spent about $60 dollars. It was so crowded i just purchased with the thought i would bring back what i didnt want. I thought I would get a credit note.
It was like you said, you have to use the credit right there and then. I ended up buying some nice bath towels. DD will be moving out maybe next year, so i am buying things for her move.
I am thrifting less and less, because of these issues. It also seems harder to get nice items. Maybe i am getting pickier. Ppp

Great choices. I see each working beautifully for you. The shoes are very cool.

I think you did really well on that trade!  Especially the shoes - they are right on trend and look like they have hardly any wear.  I like the top too, again, trendy colours and style.  You re the thrifting queen!

Three, three, THREE for the price of one!

I think you did great, Shannon! I love the sweater. And if those shoes are comfy they will be such a fun change from other styles.

YES. Now we're talking. A nice selection of items for the price of one.

Thanks ladies. I'm not fooling myself that these items are 10's but they are great place holders and will work well for me.

I am a little disappointed in myself re: still making thrifting mistakes but I guess it's just part of who I am!

Love, love love the shoes.  The sweater and bag are nice too but the shoes are lovely and to my eye have the ladylike look you like to add to many of your outfits.

  • cobaltblue replied 10 years ago

Yay, Shannon! I think you'll get great use out of these.

A terrific trade in! These fit so much better into your wardrobe, I think.

Good trade, Shannon!  I can't believe what you find thrifting!  All are keepers!

  • Joy replied 10 years ago

Shannon, you are still the thrifting queen. Don't be too hard on yourself. We all make mistakes and most are more expensive than yours.

  • rachylou replied 10 years ago

    Ack! The sweater is TDF.

  • jayne replied 10 years ago

I just love those shoes!  Forest green with envy!

  • Ingunn replied 10 years ago

Great choices, Shannon! I agree with Jayne, the shoes are particularly fun.
