WIW: Pink & Animal Print

I've kind of been tossing around the idea of an animal print skirt for fall but didn't want anything that was too dark (i.e. black background). When picking up socks and underwear for hubby at Sears yesterday, this little skirt caught my eye. It's a lovely stretch cotton and is fully lined. It will be a great transitional piece for the season and I'm thinking could possibly be worn in winter with black or nude micro fishnets and my knee high Blondo boots.

I've paired the skirt with an unexpected pop of pink - not a colour I normally wear but I like the combination with the animal print. It has a lady-like 1960's vibe to it, don't you think? The sweater has bracelet length sleeves with a flat bow on each wrist. I tried my rose gold/black watch but found a watch competed with the length of the sleeve.

I've popped on my newly thrifted dark green suede pumps and added my Fossil handbag for yet another unexpected colour. Not entirely sure the handbag works though. I'm also wearing a copper and rose gold necklace. I haven't been feeling love for my necklaces lately but because I couldn't wear my watch, I felt the outfit needed a wee something.

What do you think? Does this all work together or is it a bit of a hot mess? I also have this sweater in black which looks great with the skirt. As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

Skirt & sweater: Sears
Shoes: Ralph Lauren (thrifted)
Handbag: Fossil
Necklace: thrifted

I like this Shannon! The pink is really nice on you, and I like it paired with the leopard print. It's fun. The ladylike slightly retro shoes are good too!

I think your white handbag or your black and cream one would have looked better, but this isn't horrible.

What a great and fun skirt! I like how you paired it with pink (great color on you BTW).
As Ceit I would prefer to see a different color bag: I think this one is too earthy for a bright and clear pink.

    love this mix! So fun!

Switched to my black and cream handbag before heading out the door. Much better. Thanks Ceit!

I love the skirt (you knew that from my leopard addiction though) especially with the pink. I was going to suggest cream or black handbag and there you've sorted it for yourself. Happy Monday!

Skirt and sweater Sears, huh? I LOVE you in that pink. I am so into pink - that is what peeking at too many fashion shows lately has done to me!

I'm a sucker for pink with leopard print, so a yay from me :)

I love this. Animal print and pink, what a great combination.

Shannon you look fantastic in pink! I love this on you - I think the skirt will earn its place in your closet.

  • Ingunn replied 10 years ago

What Ceit said. You are utterly adorable in pink, Shannon. The leopard pattern is very classy, too! Great choice.

  • Suz replied 10 years ago

What a gorgeous, fresh combo, Shannon! I love it. That skirt is fantastic! Is it just a pull on tube type skirt? Totally love it.

  • Transcona Shannon replied 10 years ago

Oh thank you so much ladies! I must say that I feel rather girly and pretty today :)

Suz - the skirt is a fully lined, back zipper pencil skirt.

And I have to give a bit of a shout out to Sears. When I was in there yesterday they had quite a nice selection of really well priced items and many of them right on trend. Just goes to show you don't need to spend a million bucks to still look good!

I like the pink and leopard print together. You look slightly retro which is a great look.

Lovely color combo. I dont think i would have thought of it. Very nice and fresh looking.

  • Mona replied 10 years ago

I saw that skirt at Sears the other day and paused to inspect it as I thought the print looked so fun. You have proved me right and paired with such a lovely pink sweater.

  • Joy replied 10 years ago

The mid-tone pink looks wonderfully new with the light leopard. The only thing that bothered me about the outfit was the color of the bag and you changed that. The necklace looks great with this to draw the eye up from the leopard.
The right leopard print pencil skirt that is long enough has been on my list since Angie's gorgeous client Karen sported one. A trip to Sears is in order.

  • Transcona Shannon replied 10 years ago

Joy - you are brilliant! Mentioning Karen reminded me to try the pencil skirt with my white shirt and denim jacket.

Sara - I too love the slight retro feel of this outfit. Totally up my alley.

    Thanks Donna and Mona :)

Love, love, love it! Pink! Leopard! Retro! Three of my favorite things! I must check Sears for that skirt.

  • Sarah A replied 10 years ago

The mid tone pink is supurb with the leopard. Sears? Who knew! I missed saying it the other day but since im here also thought id mention your TR camerons are amazing on you! Worth it every penny :)

  • cjh replied 10 years ago

Nice!  Fab with the pink top.  This skirt will go with any color - think about your cobalt leanings.  I love the gray heeled loafers, too.

  • Angie replied 10 years ago

You and the new skirt are a match made in heaven, Shannin. So fresh - and on trend - with the pink. I bat for Team Pink, so high five. xo

  • shedev replied 10 years ago

I think that skirt will have real workhorse potential in your wardrobe Shannon. I love the lock and key detail on the fossil bag.

  • replied 10 years ago

Gorgeous in the pink Shannon. I'm very partial to a bit of pink myself. The pairing with the skirt is fab and I'm glad you switched out the bag too :)

  • MsMary replied 10 years ago

Love the skirt and top!  And good call on changing the bag!

  • Transcona Shannon replied 10 years ago

Sarah - thanks for the compliment on the Cameron's. I love those jeans! And I totally agree - worth every penny.

Angie - I don't think I've owned anything that is a true pink in years. Maybe I'm on my way to joining Team Pink?

I can already think of several ways to wear this skirt. I think that's a sign of a potential workhorse, don't you?

    Thanks everyone :)

Great animal print skirt and it is lovely with pink.  I am glad you changed out the bag.  The warm undertones weren't working as well with the soft cool colors.  I really like the new shoes too.

  • CocoLion replied 10 years ago

This is a great look -- it's super flattering too.  I really like the neckline on you.

  • annagybe replied 10 years ago

You know I want to slick your hair into a faux pompadour for the full rockabilly effect. Ok, so totally random comment.

  • rae replied 10 years ago

I like it! A little bit Betsey Johnson with the pink. A lighter and younger look than black or red for sure. Fun with the brown bag!

  • Vickie KY replied 10 years ago

I agree with everyone else. I love the skirt and the pop of pink is great. This is one of the looks I have down to try this fall. I am glad you changed bags. The caramel tones of the bag clashed with the pink of the top.

  • Karie replied 10 years ago

I love that skirt! If it wasn't so late, I'd be driving over to Sears right now!

  • goldenpig replied 10 years ago

Oooh, hot pink and leopard. Very Pink Ladies. Love this outfit on you. I think I might have to copy you on this one, Shannon!

  • Cindy replied 10 years ago

I love this outfit on you! You know, your taste and body shape are very similar to mine and I have yet to see a WIW from you that I didn't like. Commence the stalking! LOL
