Taking a Stand: White lumpy legs

Today's outfit is keeping Angie's challenge in mind of taking a stand with our summer body.

My legs have gotten a bit lumpier with weight gain and age and are very pale. But I refuse to wear hose in the warmer months or pass up on wearing a little pencil skirt.

With that in mind, first thing I popped on this morning was my light ponte knit black pencil skirt with bare legs. I then added this drapey graphic tank in a black and white blurred city-scape print. On top of that, I popped on a drapey-with-structure black blazer I recently picked up. I had been wanting a new black blazer but in the end decided the one I would purchase would be a lighter weight for the warmer months and I will purchase a more structured and substantial version in the fall. This blazer has a nice structured shoulder line and black, with 3/4 length sleeves. The front has a cut-away style with drape. Unfortunately my horrible office pics do not show the silver angled zippers on the side that help to give it some shape.

I finished off the outfit with my black peep toe sandal booties even though I know they completely shorten my leg line (and I don't even care - ha!), silver pendant and delicate silver bangle.

And when my growing hair is having one of those mornings, I just add a clip with a wee bit of bling and head out the door.

Not my greatest outfit (nor the greatest pics - I promise to get better at that with my iPhone) but I feel like me in this and somewhat "free" with baring my legs.

As always, all comment/suggestions welcome. And sorry about the lack of lipstick - was in the middle of drinking my morning cup of coffee :)

Your confident smile carries this fab look! Well done!

  • Janet replied 7 years ago

I love this look! I see nothing white or lumpy -- just fab. That tee is so great, and so are the shoes.

  • Joy replied 7 years ago

A fabulous way to look for the office ( or anywhere) in warmer weather. I want a blazer like that...actually I want the whole outfit. You had me at cityscape, probably my favorite type of print. You look fab standing in your office. Like a Japanese painting or calligraphy in black and white with a red wax seal, you could add a tiny dab of bright red or orange to the outfit or your office...a red coffee mug or clutch.

I forgot to say that I don't see your legs as anything but summer appropriate. My eye goes first to your dazzling smile, making me smile, then to the cityscape top.

YLF truly I would not have seen anything other that beauty had you not said anything.

I love your look, Shannon!  A perfect warm weather office ensemble. The graphic top is beyond fabulous. I also love your new Spring/Summer weight black jacket…. a smart purchase that I can see being a real workhorse for you. And, BTW, your legs look great.

Great outfit all around and the legs are FINE.

Do you have those shoes in the nude also? As you might remember, you "made me" buy 3 colors by looking so amazing in these shoes last year!  I hope the nude color will help lengthen leg-line on my bare, veiny legs this summer.

    Y'all are too kind :)

Janet - do you remember my black and white ballerina tee? I wore that thing to death and realized that some type of black and white graphic tee MUST be in my closet at all times.

Joy - wow, what a beautiful description. You're making me blush...but here's the truth. That office is my boss', not mine. My office is much more open and no possibility of snapping a quick private pic.

El Cee - I tried on several more substantial black blazers and went "wait a minute...a black blazer is an essential part of my style but that's too heavy for heat".

Laurie - lol! Yeah...sorry 'bout that :) I do have these in nude also and between the two pair, I wear this style at least 3-5 times per week. Love them!

Shannon you look fab! As a matter of fact you have given me an outfit idea for an ignored top that is similar to yours.

  • JAileen replied 7 years ago

Great outfit! I don't think you look particularly pale or lumpy. I don't see it, sorry. I love your hair, too.

You look wonderful Shannon!  White legs is not something to apologize for... for one, it's May and you live in Canada.  For another, it's healthier!

Perfect office outfit, and as Robin said, your confident smile is the finishing touch.  And you know, there is no leg-shortening going on, as the skirt is short enough to mitigate that.  Yay for Reitman's Petites :)

Whose office is that clean?? Ack - I am so envious.

Great outfit Shannon - love the tee and the shoes with it, really nice!

Killer to the Power of Killer

I've always admired your shapely legs, Shannon. It's as simple as that!

  • Transcona Shannon replied 7 years ago

Elizabeth - I always laugh when we Canadians come out of our homes after the wicked winter and we're all so white and pale. I do agree that our skin is healthier without that sun tan.

Lisa - I've enjoyed going back to Reitman's this Spring. There are so few options in Winnipeg for petite sizes. The quality is hit-and-miss but since nothing is a big investment, I'm ok with that.

Angie - K2K? What you been smoking??? :)

  • Suz replied 7 years ago

Shannon, you look spectacular. What a great jacket for you. Love it and I do see the zips peeking there. Your lovely smile is the first thing anyone sees and your legs are fab, pure and simple!

  • Adelfa replied 7 years ago

You do look great. I definitely have graphic tee envy! Also, I have some similar booties that I wear with a black pencil skirt. I too worry about leg shortening but I get tons of compliments. It just looks right, right now.

Great outfit - I think the shoes work just right.

I don't smoke, and speak the truth.

  • Transcona Shannon replied 7 years ago

    Angie - lol and :)

You've put graphic b&w tees on my elusive shopping list!

How fab you look here just highlights for me how tough we can be on ourselves for having a little something that would get airbrushed a bit if we were working as print models.

I wouldn't have guessed your hair is in a growing out phase. Here, it looks sleek and finished!

I see a beautiful, confident woman who is 100% comfortable in her skin and has a gorgeous smile. YLF Shannon! I totally love that clip....perfect!

  • replied 7 years ago

Fab all round...legs, outfit, smile, hair...all fab!

  • Beth Ann replied 7 years ago

You look terrific, Shannon!  I like your hair clip (and I'm very particular about hair accessories on the over-teen set), and think the proportions of the outfit wear beautifully.  I like the line and details on the jacket -- and the graphic tell ties everything together and adds interest to a neutral colorway.

This spring and summer, I'm layering two necklaces -- one short and one long - a lot.  I think it's kind of fun, and it might work with this outfit, with the addition of a shorter necklace (simpler is better - not a statement necklace) snuggled up in the neckline.

  • Aida replied 7 years ago

Shannon you find some of the best graphic tees! This one is super layered under the blazer; it looks almost abstract and I bet is a fun surprise if the jacket comes off. Quite like the high vamp footwear as it echoes the "heavy but not Heavy" feel the blazer adds.

  • Windchime replied 7 years ago

I'm so busy looking at your super cute hair style and awesome tee that I didn't even notice your legs. Oh, there they are! Looks fine to me. Great outfit!

  • Karie replied 7 years ago

You look super fabulous! You have inspired me to bare my veiny, ghost white legs with matching bruises (I bruise super easily) tomorrow. It's going to be in the '70's and it's time to ditch the stockings!

  • Deborah replied 7 years ago

Shannon you look great and there is nothing wrong your legs:)  Such a cool outfit and I am loving those shoes on you.

  • Jane replied 7 years ago

You look cool! Great hair cut and colour and love the way you outfit brings that out. Great top

  • goldenpig replied 7 years ago

Agree with Angie! You look sharp and edgy and love your legs, smile and hair! Graphic black and white suits you! Love that purple streak in your hair!

  • rachylou replied 7 years ago

What the heck are lumpy legs? I was ready for something else entirely - hunchback lumps, woman!

This is such a cool look. You've gone completely hipster :)

  • Jjsloane replied 7 years ago

I'll be joining you when the weather allows here. You look great and I'm sure you're the only one who thought about how your legs looked. The world saw a stylish woman in very cool shoes.

  • Sally replied 7 years ago

I love your outfit...the black and white look chic.  You have lovely skin and a great hairstyle and your legs look great in that skirt.
