New handbags are making themselves at home

I'm off work this week so may not be posting much in the way of WIW threads. Thought I'd show you my two new handbags at home in their spots - the Elliot Lucca snakeskin and the two-tone vintage reissued Fossil. Don't they look happy there???

I also have a small shelf above the clothes rod in my closet for other handbags that don't fit on my door system.

Bonus pics of "my boys" (human and fur). This is what a 17-year-old looks like the day after his b-day party with friends (they went to bed when I got up!)

Wow! You have quite a handbag collection! I like how you store them.
Loving the bonus pics of kitties and tuckered-out birthday boy!

Those are great! What a nice selection of styles and colors.... great shots of the BB and the kitties!

Mmmmm. LOVE that black and white bag and the two tone brown (both hanging on the door)!! ;)

Shannon, I have outgrown my bag storage space and you have just inspired a solution! Although most of the closets in our house have sliding doors, the hall closet has a "regular" door and I can do the "hanging on the back of the door" thing there! Yay!! Seriously! This is HUGE!!! What are those hanging things and where did you get them?

    Ahem.

    /all about me

I love your new bags and your kitties, and I love your boy most of all!! So fun!!!

Oh my heavens, you are so organized. And your kitties are so cute. And your SON!!! If I were 30 years younger, I'd be knocking on your door. He looks just as gorgeous as his mother.

I love your bag system and would like to institute something like this.

MaryK - this is the BEST system I have ever found for storing my handbags. It's a two strap system I bought at Home Outfitters (they also have them at Linen n' Things - I think you have that store?). It was about $12 and it's two long straps with hooks at both end that you wrap around the door frame at the top and bottom and then tighten so the strap is good and snug. There are pre-attached hooks on each strap that you can move up or down the strap to accommodate the size of the handbag. It's absolutely brilliant, keeps the bags from getting squished and takes up no additional storage space.

Wow, I am seriously envious of your handbag collection and your organization! Your fur babies and your 17 yr old baby are adorable too. Looks like it was a good party!

  • Jem replied 11 years ago

I, too, love your storage system! You have quite the bag collection these days! I especially love your new bags, but you have some fab older ones, too! Your boys are adorable!! :-)

  • catgirl replied 11 years ago

of course they are! You have quite a collection. I am so lazy about changing out handbags and shoes - I am still carrying my ratty Desigual bag that I dragged around NY.

  • catgirl replied 11 years ago

And your boy! I love a boy in glasses. I bet my son will look like that in 8 years!

  • rae replied 11 years ago

Thank you for sharing these pics - I get such a kick out of seeing things all 'ranged in rows. The bags and the kids as well. ;)

  • Transcona Shannon replied 11 years ago

MaryK - it's the first one! I'm telling you - it's the best little bit of money I've spent in a long time!

Thanks for the bag and babies love y'all!

  • MsMary replied 11 years ago

Thanks, Shannon! I just found it on eBay for under $15, delivered to the house, and I am super psyched!! Yay!!

  • Transcona Shannon replied 11 years ago

Whoo hoo - way to go MaryK! Because like you, I love to change my handbag with my outfit and this makes it so nice to be able to see them all. You'll have to post a pic when you have it on with your pretty handbags!

I'm loving the handbag extravaganza in picture 1.

  • Jonesy replied 11 years ago

What an awesome post, from the "handbag extravaganza" (to echo the eloquent Zap), to your tuckered out 17-year old cuddled with the kitties, to the fabulous YLF sisterhood on display :)!

I love that storage solution! I used it in my apartment a year and a half ago, when I was living alone in a smaller unit. It hasn't worked out so well in our current place, though, because the door opens to a wall and the bags were getting squished when we walked in. I very quickly moved the bags to a top shelf in my closet instead! Unfortunately our doors will be in the same situation when we move. It's a great storage spot for reusable grocery bags, though.

Everything about this thread makes me happy - your organizational skills, your bags, your fur babies, and your big baby :)

  • Jaime replied 11 years ago

Wow what is not to love about these shots - great bags, great system, adorable boys!

  • Jamie replied 11 years ago

Gosh, you have a great handbag collection, and you've given me some great organization ideas! And of course, your "boys" are adorable!

  • Transcona Shannon replied 11 years ago

I'm so glad you enjoyed this post!

Suz - if you were 30 years younger, you'd have to get in line! The phone rings non stop with various girls asking for DS. What's funny is he's not really interested in a girlfriend right now - he just loves hanging with his "bro's" and playing basketball. And that's just fine with me!

Una - I love a boy in glasses too! Mine has been wearing them since he was 13.

Angie - glad I made you smile!

  • goldenpig replied 11 years ago

Your post makes me grin! Waving at Ms. Fossil! Love the whole collection of fab bags and the great storage system (my poor bags are shoved onto the closet floor. And what a cute big boy and two little furry boys!

What a great collection of handbags and such a clever way of organizing them on the back of the door! The kitties and your son are adorable!
