WIW: White & Cream Animal

I love it when I've gotten dressed and then log into YLF to find that my outfit mirrors Angie's blog post :)

Today's outfit started with my TR Brianna white jeans - this time worn with only one cuff to be full length. I enjoy wearing my jeans rolled in true BF style but thought it would be nice to show more of that crisp white leg today.

Paired with the white jeans is my cream and animal print mixed media drapey blouse with 3/4 sleeves. I haven't worn this tee in a while and I've never paired it with white. Well why the heck not??? I'm totally loving combining different shades of white and cream (thanks Angie!).

I've semi tucked the blouse to show a snippet of my new leather belt. I went to Danier on the weekend to drop off my blush leather jacket to get the sleeves shortened before the cool weather comes and went looking for a cognac belt. I didn't find the one I was looking for but instead fell hard for this tan and brassy-gold metallic one. At $19, it came home with me.

I went with my cream laser cut oxfords and large cream handbag to complete my white and cream outfit. Gold/black watch, red specs and swipe of red lipstick finish it off.

So what do you think? Does this blouse work with white jeans and does this all work together? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

It all looks perfect to me. It's the little details that make your outfits shine!

Great outfit Shannon.  I'm not sure what it is about it (I think it is the contrast) but it all works extremely well.  Love the new belt.  I am such a sucker for metallics.

    Gorgeous and great timing!

Very nice...I especially like the belt and semi-tuck. I am looking for a belt like that too!

Great outfit and fab shoes.  Do you go sockless with them?  Are they comfy?

  • Transcona Shannon replied 9 years ago

Dianthus - I'm a sucker for metallics too and am still trying to find the perfect pewter/silver metallic belt.

MuseumGal - I do go sockless in these oxfords and they are extremely comfy. I will be honest though in that these shoes took quite a while to break in and become comfortable. Now I can walk all day in them no problem.

I like the white and cream look.  The oxfords and top bookend each other extremely well.

I think this is great--but I have to confess, seeing an off-white with white will take some getting used to! But you've done a great job of showing me how it does look good.

  • Kimberley replied 9 years ago

Really nice, Shannon!  I don't always like off-white with bright white, but the way you've bookended the top with the oxfords really works.  Well done!

That's a great top, and indeed looks great against the pure white jeans.  Smart pairing!   The red lips give you the extra bit of contrast -beautiful!  Have a great day :)

You are a master at mixing white with sophistication.  It absolutely works!
Love the belt, too.  An excellent workday choice!

Love everything about this outfit Shannon!  So fresh and pretty!

The semi-tuck really works here. I know you are not usually a "tucker" because of your short-waisted issues. This departure from your usual look of "a top on the outside" is fresh and appealing. I cannot seem to get the hang of the semi-tuck or faux-tuck. I am a "tuck it in or go home" kind of person.

Love this.  Inspiration for sure.  I don't think I have matured enough to mix white and cream (nor do I own the right pieces) but I can aspire to it someday.

When I read this sentence, "I enjoy wearing my jeans rolled in true BF style but thought it would be nice to show more of that crisp white leg today." All I could think was that if I wanted to show crisp white legs, I would need to roll my pants leg UP!  LOL

I really have Danier envy.  I've been on their site again recently and am trying to resist a few items, a belt being one of them.

Yay for mixing white and cream! It looks like a perfect mix.

These pieces look great together and that new belt is a stunner, great find :)
    You look fabulous :)

Gorgeous from top to toe. Your red specs and lippie add a nice Retro touch. Shannon, you really DO ooze with style and sass.

I love mixing cream and white too. A fun coincidence that you wore this outfit today - and thanks for linking from the post. xo

Well you know I just adore this Shannon :D Gorgeous mix. The touches of dark in the print pick up superbly on your hair, and the light shoes with the look are a perfect match (plus the perforation keeps it summery). All this lightness makes your bold lippie bring even more attention to your pretty face and hair. Really lovely!

Soooo fab! I love the outfit. Perfect, soft, elegant, but the animal print lends a bit of edge. Perfect!

White plus animal print...I love it! Plus the red lipstick!!!

    Absolutely fab outfit, Shannon!
The idea of mixing cream and white used to just about give me hives, but I've grown to like mixing shades like that a lot! (Thanks, Angie!)

  • Angie_T replied 9 years ago

Awesome look. Very sharp and polished! I admire your sense of style so much!

  • glamourpuss replied 9 years ago

Haven't read the other comments because I just had to post right away to say how perfect this outfit is!  THIS is the way I like to wear black with white; with a beige supporting act and a red lip.  Just stunning!  I would wear this outfit in a heartbeat and you really nailed the colors.  You look fab and your new belt is perfect with this color scheme.  Bookmarking to copy.

  • Transcona Shannon replied 9 years ago

Well based on your lovely comments, I'll be repeating this outfit!

    Thank you all:)

And yes, thanks to Angie for helping us learn to mix different shades of the same color!

  • Suz replied 9 years ago

Wow, I almost missed this one! So glad that I did not. What a stunning outfit! I adore that blouse on you. And how fun that you matched the blog!

I couldn't agree more about mixing different shades of the same colour. Before YLF I was terrified to do this. Now I do it all the time. I actually find that animal prints can be a real aid to this mixing, whether they are in a main piece (as here) or in accessories. I don't know what it is about them, but they really seem to work.
