WIW: Tipped sweater blazer with grey glen paid

I'm in for a super busy week at work so just letting y'all know, other than posting my WIW's, I'm not sure how much time I'll be able to give to the forum this week. I hope that's ok.

Today I'm pairing my two-tone purple/berry tipped sweater blazer with my grey glen plaid wide legged trousers. Underneath the sweater, I'm wearing a dark purple tank. For footwear, I'm wearing my trusty Clarks pumps and my handbag is my faux snakeskin clutch. Jewelry is my silver Haida wedding band and my silver Gucci watch.

Although I'm all over the slouchy trend at the moment, in actuality, these might be my favourite of all my trousers. I love the way they fit, the width of the legs and the way the trousers move when I walk. I feel equally comfortable and elegant in them, if that makes any sense.

What do you think of this outfit? Does it all work together? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

Sweater: Halogen
Tank: Gap
Trousers: Ricki's (thrifted)
Shoes: Clarks
Handbag: Sondra Roberts (thrifted)

To my eye it all works beautifully. I'm hearing you about the trousers and the happiness shows on your face! Lovely.

Great trousers, Shannon! I like the soft structure of the cardigan with them.

Those pants are very flattering, what a nice bonus that they are so comfortable - and one of your thrifting successes. The neckline of your tank is really nice with the sweater. Oh, and did I say I really like this?

Of course you like those trousers! They are perfect. Love a glen plaid trouser myself. That tipped front sweater jacket looks like a no fuss but colorful choice for busy day. Hope your week isn't too stressful.

Oh my, I love the sweater. The shades of purple with the gray trouser is divine, and the clutch is the cherry on top. Another wonderful outfit Shannon showcasing your beauty and style.

I love those trousers on you, Sannon! They look perfect, which I am sure is why you like them so much. The sweater is amazing on you, the color, the structure, the fit. I like the pop of sparkle from the belt as well. This is a very pulled together, stylish outfit that is very figure flattering.

Delightfully modern *and* delightfully retro. Gotta love this!

Especially enjoying the addition of the day clutch --- by definition, a clutch is feminine yet it is quite a sturdy-looking one in an almost masculine colour; the pants and blazer may be menswear-inspired by definition, but the shape and trim add femininity. One of those lovely juxtapositions you do very well, Shannon!

Did I mention you look ravishing in that berry shade too?

Love the color on you, and I see why you love those trousers. I love your clutches - they add so much to your look!

You look wonderful, Shannon! I agree with you that there is NOTHING like a pair of nicely fitting classic trousers. Slouchy are great (love 'em!!) but sometimes a classic trouser is exactly what's required and these are super flattering.

A reminder of how perfect classic silhouettes can be. Beautiful and comfortable, too.

  • Jamie replied 11 years ago

Great outfit, as always! That color of purple is very flattering on you!

I love these pants on you and that purple is so pretty!

  • Angie replied 11 years ago

Great look! A super spot of colour - Suz's colours - on a bitter cold day. You look wonderful!

Btw, how on earth do people take their animals outside to wee when it's SOOOOOOOO cold. It's -20 and -30 in your neck of the woods. We had -3 and -5 here last week and we have to wrap Rosie up.

This color is fabulous addition to the grey. Lovely!

You look beautiful. That color is great on you! Good luck with your busy schedule this week!

My mum reiterated just this Saturday her strong approval of glen plaid, prompted by my wearing of said plaid.

    Great minds think alike! :D

Thank you all so much ladies! It's nice to know that an outfit that doesn't have "edge" is still a good outfit!

Angie - with respect to your question about how people take their animals outside in our winter...well, this is probably why we have so many winter loving dogs in my home town like Huskies, Samoyds, Malamutes, etc. When I was growing up we had a Newfoundlander and we actually had a harness made for him so he could pull our tobaggan around - he loved to run and play in the snow.

As for smaller dogs that can't tolerate the cold, they literally just run out the back door, do their business and run back in!

    Beautiful simple elegance!

Classic trousers are always such an elegant choice and these are stunning on your Shannon. Love it with the bright colour on top and the day clutch for the finishing touch. Gorgeous all round!

I think the tipped sweater blazer is all kinds of fab on you! It looks to fit you perfectly. Just the right amount of structure and ease. If I needed to dress up just a little more in my lifestyle, I'd want a piece like that.

Plus I love your clutch! This is one of my fave outfits from you.

  • catgirl replied 11 years ago

Shannon, I love this. Have you found other ways to wear that sweater? I'm trying to remember how else you've worn it... It reminds me of the Gap blazer that was so popular here!

  • Transcona Shannon replied 11 years ago

    Thanks Joy, Tina and Denise!

Una - I confess, I've only worn the sweater with jeans up to now. I have no idea why but I guess I associated it with casual wear...I'm also thinking it would look good over my black sheath dress and cobalt booties; over my white button down shirt and my tweed-ish slouchy trousers; even with my chocolate brown lace skirt...I'm really enjoying this SYC I'm on and am having fun putting new combinations together. I have a habit of wearing certain things only certain ways so this is a great exercise to get me out of that.

Love that color on you and the pants fit nice. I don't know how you find so many pretty petite pieces. Try saying that 3 times..

  • Niefern replied 11 years ago

I love those trousers, I think I need to look for something similar.

  • Angie replied 11 years ago

Thanks, Shannon! Yorkies are not made for Winnipeg weather :(

  • Nicole D replied 11 years ago

That sweater is beautiful! I actually gasped. I agree with you about the trousers too - they are timeless.

  • replied 11 years ago

I love what you did here with the accessories. The devil is definitely in the details. YLF:)

  • catgirl replied 11 years ago

Angie, too funny! It's one reason we've only had huskies and husky mixes - our dogs must be able to handle (and love) snow and cold. They surf around in it like dolphins and it is so much fun to watch.
