WIW: Hot Pink for a Hot Day

It's going to be +35 Celcius today with a humidex of +42 (that means with the humidity, it will FEEL like +42). Definitely a day for a sundress.

I'm wearing my hot pink J Crew silk blend sleeveless sundress with pockets. I know Angie had some concerns regarding the neckline and bottom volume of the dress, but I can't help it - I love this dress! It makes me want to twirl! I've paired it with my animal print Stuart Weitzman sandals, dark brown raffia tote and matching wood brown/pink necklace and bracelet. Normally I don't do the matching jewelry but it felt ok with this. I've also popped on my recently thrifted darker wash distressed denim jacket should the A/C try to freeze me in the office.

I'm so happy in this outfit I could dance! What do you think? Proportions ok? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome. I would also like to point out that this outfit is 100% thrifted!

    Shannon this truly looks wonderful. I get the concern re the fullness of the skirt but I think the silhouette of this dress is just lovely. It's very you, feminine, a touch retro and I like the necklace with it a lot. The length of the denim jacket is perfect for this dress. And the color of the dress is magnificent. To my eye this works because of the clever styling. You look so happy and gorgeous in this outfit that it can't be anything short of a 10 IMO.

    I love the dress and think the proportions look good on you. I like how you've accessorized it and the denim jacket looks perfect. I don't understand why I always love the way denim jackets look on others, but I absolutely don't like them on me. There are so many cute outfit possibilities with a denim jacket that I'm missing out on.

    I'm a sucker for a grown-up pink, so I'm completely bowled over by this. You are ladylike and spunky --- great summer look! The necklace is an important element here, to my eye: It gives a vertical line that breaks into the swath of pink. Yeah!

    Beth Ann - that's exactly why I chose the necklace! I needed a vertical line to break up the expanse of pink and also to try and elongate my neckline since the higher neck of the dress isn't the best for short, wide me.

    I can see why you love that dress. And you have dressed it up so nicely. I admit I would like it better with a narrower bottom half, but then you'd lose all the twirly goodness. Sometimes you just can't have it all, so "settling" for happy and pretty will have to do.

    Hot pink with leopard? Why haven't I thought of that before?! This does look ladylike-retro and I love it! The necklace is doing just what you want, and the heels are fabulous with it. I really like the color of this new denim jacket on you--I'm so glad you found it. And you get an A++ from me for being 100% thrifted (and not looking like it)! Woo-hoo!

    I personally like the flared dress on you! Love how you softened the neon pink with the soft blue denim and earthy browns. The giant, neutral flower is a great touch, too!

    Every time I log onto YLF, I am inexplicably drawn to your pics! I just scan through the main page and click on the tiny outfits I like, and they're somehow always yours! This dress is stunning, and I love the entire outfit.
