WIW: For Interview Day 2

I'm part of an interview panel this week - day 1 of interviews was on Tuesday and I went with Corporate Approachable look http://youlookfab.com/welookfa.....proachable. For today's interviews, I decided to wear my black skirt suit but with a soft flowy blouse to again look business professional but welcoming and "non strict".

I started with my black suit skirt with a black tank tucked in and then layered my white/charcoal ombre silk sleeveless blouse over top. I normally layer a white tank underneath this blouse but I like the change a black tank brought. This way, there's no mid section colour line cutting me in half, you know? It does subdue the white portion of the blouse but I kind of like the "smokey" effect it gives with black. On top of that, I added the black suit jacket, with scrunched sleeves. Accessories include my black heeled sandals, silver watch and wedding band, white clutch, black/white specs and a swipe of bold pink lipstick.

You'll notice in my accessories pic I have included my umbrella (going to rain today). Even if matches my black and white theme - lol!

This role of participating on an interview panel is new for me - am I hitting the right note with my outfits? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

Skirt suit - Nygard
Tank: Smart Set
Silk blouse - Eileen Fisher (eBay)
Sandals: Clarks
Clutch: Danier Leather
Watch: Gucci (thrifted)

I do like that blouse with the black tank underneath! Really good. I like the softness it gives to your suit outfit also.

I would be delighted to see you on the interview panel and would hope the job included working with someone that looks so cool and stylish.

That soft ombre blouse is the perfect layering piece for this strict skirt suit. Gorgeous and 11/10 in my books!

Just beautiful!  And the blouse is killer.

Perfect interviewer style.  And that blouse is a real all-season piece, isn't it?  The black tank underneath lends it a more subdued look, which is  what you want here. Like it!

This is gorgeous-- and very you! The combo will look great with a leather jacket and booties later in the year for work. I love the blouse.

    Perfect!
How lovely that the nervous interview-ies will have such a well-turned out yet approachable you there :)

Shannon, I look forward to seeing all the ways that you remix your fabulous wardrobe. This is one of the best. You took the stiff and stuffy out of a black suit. I'm in awe

You manage to look totally gorgeous and super professional! Wow! The smokey blouse is perfection.
I think it is lovely that you have put so much thought into making your interviewees so welcome. I remember seven years ago when I interviewed for my first tenured job and one of the women on the panel was especially kind. It made a big difference to my experience!

Glad to hear this outfit is appropriate for the purpose. Although exhausting, I was pleased to be part of this panel.

Joy - I'm really enjoying remixing my pieces these days. I've never had such a small wardrobe and I was very worried I would get bored, but I'm finding that when I truly LOVE the item, I don't mind wearing it over and over again.

Shannon, I was rushing and didn't have time to comment this morning but really like the outfit.  I popped in at Nygard to try on the red jeans and guess what I saw!!  Your ombre shirt but in deep teal fading to dark navy with a satin bright navy band down the front.  I tried it on but felt it gave me a bit too much shelf boob so I left it behind.

They have the jeans like my skinnies in bootcut with a slightly higher waist and a bit heavier fabric for winter.  If you are in the market for jeans, you should give them a try.

    Wow! Love.

Love the layered effect, is says I'm creative while the suit says I understand the rules.

I have made up my own name for this type of suit look - I call it soft suiting - which in my mind is a more approachable suit look. I think you have nailed it in this picture.
I do lots and lots of interviewing  and more than your suit making candidates feel  comfortable is you wonderful genuine smile.
