WIW: Denim, animal & rose

My office allows denim pencil skirts as long as they are a darker wash and of a dressier nature, unlike jeans which are only allowed on Fridays.

So today's outfit started with my dark denim pencil skirt, to which I added a simple black tank topped with an animal print short sleeved light weight cardigan. For footwear I chose my nude peep toe laceless oxfords and then decided to go a little out of the box and use my cobalt/cream quilted handbag for a pop of an unexpected colour. And for jewelry, I'm debuting my new black/rose gold oversized Fossil watch. A swipe of red lipstick (a wee bit darker shade than my usual red) and off we go.

What do you think? Does this combination work? Was the cobalt bag the right choice or should I have gone with something more neutral? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

Cardigan: George (thrifted)
Tank: Cleo Petite
Skirt: Revolutions (thrifted)
Shoes: Boutique 9
Handbag: Danier Leather
Watch: Fossil

Looks good Shannon! I think your Nygard cardigan would look good with this also. I am not a fan of the short sleeves on the cardi, but it makes it work for summer.

    I like the cobalt bag!

Ooooh yes...the Nygard cardi would work really well here. Thanks Ceit! However our temps are still in the high 30's so maybe when it's a bit cooler.

Another winner! So nice how the shoes (which I love) and watch relate to the sweater. And I absolutely love the blue bag with this.

Nice transitional outfit, Shannon! I am recognizing more and more that I need some light but not summer weight tops for this time of year.

I love everything about this outfit and especially the figure flattery  effects. TS: I would study the proportions on this outfit carefully and try to repeat the silhouette as I think the proportions work beautifully for your body shape and height.

You look great!  I really like the cardigan for pattern with the solid skirt and top.  The shoes look great with it.

Terrific outfit moving from summer into fall. Still cool enough to be comfortable, but the tonal fall colors really work. And I am just in love with the cardi with this!  You do cardis so well, and no frump to be seen (which I just cannot do :(  )

Looking fresh as a......leopard?  No, I was thinking "daisy."
Love the pop of cobalt, and the outfit as a whole is very flattering.

You look great and I love how you've accessorized the outfit... isn't it funny how animal print goes with EVERYTHING?! For some reason the short sleeves on the cardigan seem a tad dated to my eye.

    Thanks for the feedback ladies.

Two comments about the sleeves eh? Alrighty then, out she goes. It's a thrifted item and I have no emotional attachment to it. I absolutely love my black and animal print Lord & Taylor cashmere sweater so I'll wear that one instead - when it's cool enough of course. Waaaaaaay too hot for something that thick.

In fact I'm thinking when our cool fall weather arrives, I could pair the denim pencil skirt, black tank, cashmere animal print cardigan and my nude Toms wedge booties - you think that would work?

I'm having a bit of a poison eye moment with cardis, but I bet you will hear from Angie that this looks fresh and current.  It is very flattering on you and the short sleeves gives the visual impression of scrunched sleeves.

You look so slim in this outfit. You have the column look underneath with the cardi. I love animal print.

I think the cobalt bag is the perfect punch to the outfit. Love!
