WIW: Blush Leather & Trouser Jeans

Although we are allowed to wear jeans on Fridays at work, I'm still navigating my way through exactly how to present that. I think trouser jeans are the way to go.

So today's outfit started with my dark denim trouser style jeans which I've had for at least three years. Maybe my weight gain hasn't been so bad if they fit, right? :)

I've added my black/white ballerina tee to the jeans and then topped that with my blush pink leather jacket. I love to wear leather jackets as indoor blazers at the office - it's a wee bit edgy. I actually had on a drapey white tank as the tee first but found that pairing with the blush jacket skewed a little too summery for me. But a white fluid knit pullover would work - must think about that some more.

To bookend my red specs, I'm wearing my red booties and I grabbed my oversized snakeskin print clutch for my handbag. I chose bright pink lips to work with the jacket and because I like the "clash" of bits of red and pink in the same outfit.

And not that you can tell but I tucked some hair behind my ears on both sides and it feels much better today. I'm wondering if I'm just going through the icky growing stage after all?

Anyway - would love your feedback on the outfit today. Does the blush work with a darker background outfit? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

Jacket: Danier Leather

I so love the red boots with the blush jacket!  This is beautiful Shannon and I think the blush works beautifully here. I have some brand new Jag trouser jeans in the cupboard (long story), you make me think I should go try them on.

I to love the red boots and blush jacket and you have one of the most beautiful collections of leather jackets.

Totally agree about both the blush and red and about your amazing collection of leather jackets. The jeans are a great way to wear jeans to work.

I love your outfit! That blush leather jacket is a beauty. I need to keep an eye on the Danier sales.

  • Eliza replied 9 years ago

Wow! What an upbeat, winning look. Like the red footwear with the blush jacket. The Danier is killer on you!

I too like red and pink together, and this is a great outfit. Love the added interest of the patterned bag.

And I definitely see a difference in your hair, it looks more sleek and actually seems to elongate and thin out your face. Not that your face NEEDS any thinning mind you, that's just the effect I noticed.

Fantastic again!  I think this top was the perfect choice, it continues the darkness up, giving that column effect.  But an interesting column.  Love the red and blush in the same outfit.

I agree with you on the trouser jeans to work... I do wear more "normal" jeans to work on Friday's, but only if I have no meetings.  I have some Jag dark denim wider leg ones that are my favorites for feeling professional.  They also need a bit of a heel, which adds to that.  Not sure if they are trouser jeans, but definitely heading in that direction.

It could easily be that your hair just hit a growing out hump.  Have a chat with your stylist before you do your big chop... they might easily be able to change the shape a bit for you, and give you a few more weeks or months of seeing if growing out will work before you lose all the length you've gained.  A good stylist can make growing out totally painless.  But of course that doesn't necessarily mean no work and fussing, just that you'll look good AFTER the work :)

Love this, Shannon! Pull the combo out again for Valentine's!

  • Windchime replied 9 years ago

I was thinking what Suz just wrote--keep the blush/red combo in mind for Valentine's Day! I love your ballerina tee every time I see it, and the blush jacket is gorgeous on you. Great casual work outfit and nice hair, too.

    So pretty and so flattering!

Another hit !  I think someone in your position benefits from wearing a dressier jean on a casual Friday. Wearing "normal" jeans maybe doesn't acknowledge your position among others , nor the doctor you report to. Does that make sense?  I like to see us err on the side of more dressed, than less so.  Anyways, gorgeous jacket, and there is Miss Ballerina again - I;m going to miss her too!  I've become a big fan of red and pink in terms of using makeup to  "clash" against a piece of clothing. Your makeup is great here. Have a great Friday!

Great outfit!  I would never have thought to put red boots with pink, but I really like it.

  • jackiec replied 9 years ago

I love the red and pink too, unexpected for me really. But the clutch is what's speaking to me. Spectacular pairing.

    FABULOUS.

Love the bookending of specs and boots. And pink and red is gorgeous together. The bag adds an extra fashionable touch. xo

Thanks ladies - I was just thinking that I could also have used my red/animal print clutch for a bit more color. Next time...

And I really hate how my wall color suddenly looks yellowish and skews the color of the blush jacket. Need to check out my lighting.

  • abc replied 9 years ago

Love the color combo, the pattern on the clutch, but most of all I drool over the blush leather jackets I see on YLF, this one definitely included.  And of course the red specs and shoes are great, my fave color.  What Suz said - pull this out in a month for V-day!

What a great way to wear jeans/denim and look completely professional. Denim does not have to mean sloppy or inappropriate for a business setting and you have proved it. I love that blush jacket.

  • amiable replied 9 years ago

Whoa - love the blush and red together.  And why don't I have a blush leather jacket!? This is so gorgeous.

  • merwoman replied 9 years ago

love the trouser jeans. what a fab way to straddle the line between professional and casual. and the blush leather jacket--fab!

  • Keturah replied 9 years ago

When I saw the blush jacket you're sporting, I squealed! out loud in a library! And then I blushed myself. :) I just adore blush, and I love how you've used it brighten the dark denim and red.

You have nice classic lines with lots of modern chic going on. I think your smiles say sit all. :)

    You look splendid <3 <3 <3 MWAH!

    Love!

Gorgeous! Really like blush and red together, reminds me of the ensemble Angie posted last year for Valentine's
    Day.

  • Vicki replied 9 years ago

With this beautiful blush and red combination, you remind me of the brunette version of Angie.  I love these two colors together on you, Shannon, with the dark denim.

What?!  Are you going to paint our wall to accommodate your clothing color preferences?  :)  How about a pinkish light bulb to make nice with your blush jacket?

  • Joy replied 9 years ago

One of my favorites ever! I want to steal that blush jacket.
Blush totally works with dark especially with the white of the tee and the red.
I first saw blush worn about 2 years ago in Japan. Everyone was wearing it with black or dark grey. It looked fresh and modern.

Clever combo!  Love the blush on you, and the combo of blush with leather is so rich and interesting.

    You look terrific!

This outfit is beautiful, Shannon. You did great at  dressing up jeans for work. The jacket and clutch are stunning pieces.
Your hair looks terrific, but I know how hard it can be when you have too many bad-hair days. That just doesn't seem right; to me, a good style that suits one's hair should result in more good- than bad-hair days.

  • rae replied 9 years ago

The trouser jeans look fab! As does the jacket - what a perfect blush color for you.
