WIW: Blush Angie Pick for her B-Day

The last time I wore this blouse, I paired it with white slim BF jeans. Today I'm trying it with a slim black pencil skirt.

The blouse is a lovely blush, white and black drapey hi-low kimono-esque style. Bringing out the black bits in the pattern, I'm wearing my black knit pencil skirt. I like the silhouette of the voluminous blouse over the slim skirt.

I went with my black heeled sandals for footwear and chose my ancient black leather with cream trim handbag - so that the cream in the handbag could pull out the white bits in the blouse. Accessories include a dark grey/silver bangle, silver wedding band and my black/white specs.

What do you think? Does it all work? Is the black too heavy with the blouse? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

Angie - you have done more for me and my style than you will EVER know. This blouse represents your gentle encouragement (well sometimes an actual nudge - lol!) to try colours and styles I never would have considered in my pre YLF days. I can't even begin to thank you :)

Blouse: BCBG (Angie pick)
Skirt: Cleo Petite
Sandals: Clarks
Handbag: Danier Leather (thrifted)
Bangle: vintage

It looks great with the pencil skirt! I like how the pattern in the shirt echoes the cutouts in the shoes.

Very lovely! I like the slim pencil skirt with it. It is a very different look from white trousers, but that is the beauty of a piece that can be styled in different ways!

Ceit - wow, I didn't even notice the pattern and cutouts echoing each other. Great eye! Oh...actually... I meant to do that - lol!

Viva - this blouse was love at first sight and even though it wasn't on the list or really in the budget, I am sooooooo incredibly glad I bought it. And hubby loves it too :)

Celia - oh my goodness! How incredibly flattering. Now you're making me blush (which makes me matchy-matchy with my blouse - lol!). Thank you.

Thanks all - Angie's recommended pieces always turn out to be winners. That fab lady knows her stuff!

I love it, Shannon! The way your hair and glasses bookends the skirt is perfect.

Beautiful, Shannon! Yes, of course you paired the print with the perforation details without even thinking! That's your style genius in evidence.

I love this silhouette too Shannon! That blouse is gorgeous on you (I know I have said that before, but it's worth mentioning again :) ). You look lovely today!

Love this Shannon, and I don't think the black skirt is too "heavy" at all.  It's nicely bookended by your hair.

  • rae replied 9 years ago

Missed this yesterday!  I love the blush as a way of adding light to black items!  Fresh and pretty!   I wonder about a taupe or nude shoe with the look for summer --- not that I don't love the black, too!

Isn't it fun how you can change one thing (jeans to a skirt) and it really changes up the look.  This blouse is a lovely piece on you, one of my favorites that you own right now.

  • rachylou replied 9 years ago

Pretty and clean and yet ornate at the same time :)

  • Gracie replied 9 years ago

I love this beautiful fluid blouse on you, the blush really suits you. Coveting your Clarks sandals.  Your hair looks specially spunky today, fab!

High 5 blouse twin. You look amazing in the top (have to go find your first post, too) with the skirt. It is so pretty with your coloring and you have confirmed my observation that the blouse is magical. Your bag is terrific with it.

Thanks to Angie's rec, I broke all of my traditional thoughts and splurged on a polyester blouse with a blush background. It has worked dressed up and down. Interestingly, this may be the wardrobe item DH has raved the most about this season. It works great alone and I have also paired it with a tuxedo jacket.

    Shannon, YLF!

ETA- just saw your gorgeous white jean blog post and the descriptor "magical" for the blouse. Pretty funny that our experience s parallel. I am 5'7" and the sleeves are a bit shorter on me, yet the shape is flattering. The back is as nice as the front.

I really love that blouse on you. BCBG is one of my favourite stores (especially when things are on sale). I can how this type of top and the pretty yet minimal pattern will work in a ton of ways. Nice shoes again too! You have a good eye for unique yet wearable footwear.
