WIW: Black & Jewelled Silk

I love this silk jewelled print tank - it feels amazing on the skin and I adore the blush background with dark purple, blue and green mixed in. Today I decided to pair it with all black in a simple outfit so that the top is the star.

I chose my black skinnies (sister to the burgundy skinnies) and my black leather blazer to go with the tank and for footwear, went with my chunky Doc Marcies. My black round-top handbag and gold wedding band round out the outfit.

So what do you think? Does this all work together? Too much black? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

Blazer & handbag: Danier Leather
Tank: Olsen Europe
Boots: Doc Martens
Skinnies: Attitude by Jay Manuel

Another fantastic outfit! The colors in the top are so pretty, and the whole outfit looks cool and rocker-chic.

I like the juxtaposition of the soft silk top with the tough leather jacket and the RATE boots.  I think you look gorgeous!  I seem to see a lot of black outfits from you of late :)  And you rock them IMO.

spot on Shannon - the top really sings with it's black back up sisters!!  perhaps a bright overcoat or bag to lessen all the black?? - but I love the full black in the outfit - and I rarely wear black!!

  • Suz replied 4 years ago

Not too much black at all, Shannon! Great outfit as usual!

  • Robidi replied 4 years ago

    Great combination, Shannon!  YLF :)

Not too much black as far as I'm concerned. The muted colors and pattern in the top add a moody, mysterious feel. Love the bag and shoes too. Nice!

The multimedia blazer seems to break up the solid black. You look great.

Love all the textures in the black, Shannon.  The top has a bit of rock 'n roll vibe while remaining work appropriate.

"Rocker-chic"? Love it - thank you Karie!

Neel - I love to wear black and find it a reasonably flattering color for me - but I do have to be careful or else I would wear it every day.

dusst - my puffer coat when I stepped outside is bright citron - that definitely broke up the black!

Thank you Suz, Robidi, pil, Joy and Beth Ann for your comments :)

Too much black?  Not in your life!  You wear it well.  Another home run here Shannon... that jacket is FAB.  As is the top...

Beautiful colors in the shell! Even though there is white and light colors, to me it looks very winter-cool with the black.

Love this outfit! You let the gorgeous silk top take centre stage. Of course the  'background' can't be ignored - lovely textures. And it comes together so beautifully....

Rocker edge but still work appropriate. Love it!

  • Greyscale replied 4 years ago

What a fantastic top. The black sets off the drama of the top very well. Not too much black at all.

Shannon I love this look.  That blouse is so beautiful, particularly paired with the edgy black.    I always find this time of year difficult with you wearing such fab cool weather outfits while we are starting to navigate the heat.
