K/R: NAS Part 4 (Rachel Roy Tree Print Skirt)

This is my second last item from NAS (still have the Blondo Vergara boots to come). Let me say that the fabric on the skirt is beautiful and as Angie said, the drape lovely. It is definitely form fitting on my ample backside but it does up very easily, is not tight or uncomfortable, and I can sit easily in it. I would like it to be a smidge looser but if my new medication continue to work well (down 3 pounds so far since they switched my meds) that should hopefully become a reality.

However, let's judge it as it is now. I've done a couple of quick stylings for your viewing pleasure (lol) so let me know what you think.

Yay yay yaaaaay! Man, b/w goes so prettily with your soft purples. That skirt is amazing on you - so cool with the Marcies!

You look good. You've had the most amazing NAS luck - it must be from that keen thrifting eye you've developed.

  • Aida replied 11 years ago

Ahh I loved this skirt, but the one I tried on was sooooo flimsy. I must have had a dud -_- I quite like this skirt on you Shannon, though I do think 1" shorter (still midi) might work better (not sure if that's doable). I don't like it quite as much with the gray; I'm thinking this needs sharp contrast or brights with it for you.

Aida - my magenta blazer or Gap red blazer would give a good pop of colour. I'm also thinking my new black leather blazer with a bright top underneath would work well. I suspect shortening this would be pricy due to the lining and the two different fabrics (the black crepe portion and then the knit print portion) so will need to work with its current length, which I actually like.

Sylvie - if the boots fit when they arrive, I will be blown away by my first NAS success. I may never shop it again since I figure I won't be as lucky next time!

Fit look ok to you all?

Looks great! I love the idea of a bright jacket with this, too.

I have the same skirt. Haven't posted pics for feedback yet. Too hot to wear it yet anyway. Come on, fall!

  • Suz replied 11 years ago

Okay...here's something mad. What about pattern mixing it with your red silk jacket? The retro dotted one?

Otherwise, your cobalt jacket, your bright green one, your bright pink...(or am I imagining that???) So many options.

I have serious skirt envy now. Given that I already have the footwear, shouldn't I have the skirt, too, so we can be twins? Sadly, I have no use for another pencil skirt in my life right now.

Never mind. I INSIST that we do a "twins for a day" post with a few of our matching items when fall arrives. I will even wear my specs to make it more real.

I really didn't like the store photo of this, but on you it looks great!

  • annagybe replied 11 years ago

I like with the all black, looks edgier that way.

  • Jem replied 11 years ago

I really like it and think the fit is great! I also like the length.

I think you did really well with this skirt! Reminds me of Angie saying that the NAS was all about finding the extra-special pieces - and you've done it here. I *really* hope those boots work out for you too, because they also look fabulous, judging from various posts I've seen.

Meanwhile, I agree with annagybe in that this skirt looks extra fab when paired with black for some reason. Not that you couldn't have some colour elsewhere if you wanted (bag, shoes, scarf, belt, what have you), just that it looks *really* good (veering into 'k' territory, imo) paired with black.

I can't wait to see what the Blondo boots look like with this skirt! This whole NAS (shipping/duties etc.) adventure just might be worth it, in the end - don't you think?

  • Transcona Shannon replied 11 years ago

Suz - I actually got rid of the cobalt jacket (the one with the puffy sleeves). I just couldn't find enough ways to wear it. But I do like the idea of a cobalt jacket - might have to have a look around. I would LOVE to have a "twins for a day" post with you - would be sooooo much fun. You're on!

VC - I will consider myself incredibly lucky if every one of my NAS purchases work out! I love the idea of the Blondo boots with this skirt.

Thanks for chiming in Janet, Ceit, Anna and Jem!

I love the skirt with the boots!

It looks great on you, Shannon! I especially love it with the jacket. Although I love the silk blouse (since I own one as well ;-) I don't really like the skirt with it. Great NAS purchases so far! Keeping my fingers crossed for the blondo boots for you!

You've scored, Shannon- and I love the skirt with the leather jacket. Your other ideas sound divine. Well done.

I love this skirt on you, and with those short boots! #3 is just perfect. The fit of the skirt is mahvelous on you.

  • Deborah replied 11 years ago

And Shannon it has been a viewing pleasure:). I love this skirt. I saved it some weeks ago to my inspiration file and am hoping we get a version of it here:). You rock this skirt and I like the length. In my mind I see two ways of styling this. Ladylike or edgy and perhaps a combo of both. I am with Anna in that I like black with this skirt. I would be tempted to create an all black and white outfit with maybe a pop of color by way of a handbag, accessories etc.

  • harmonica replied 11 years ago

Keep! And wear, wear, wear! This works for me and I like it with black as well

  • Kirti replied 11 years ago
