Battle of the Red Booties (ETA Decision Made - see bottom)

Well now that the Bailey 44 dress has received its official seal of approval, I'm now moving on to the discussion of red booties.

The dress as shown on the Anthro website had the model wearing red booties and I LOVED them with the dress. I do have blue suede booties that work well with it too, as well as my Doc Marcies. But I'm still lusting after red.

These are the three candidates up for review - 1) Seychelles Dearest http://www.amazon.com/Seychell.....+red+boots; 2) Sam Edelman Lisle (Angie pick) http://www.amazon.com/Sam-Edel.....ed+booties; or the Cobb Shannon bootie http://shop.nordstrom.com/s/co.....sultback=0

One of these is a pretty clear front runner - curious to see what you like. The other option is no red booties at all because I don't need them.

Let's see what you think...

I vote for the Cobb Shannon.

I am leaning towards the Seychelles, even though the Cobb obviously has your name on it. :-p

    cobbs :)

I like the Sam Edelman's but I also like the idea of the lace ups. They could be very nice with skirts.

I'm partial to the Seychelles too, if only because the flap makes them more unique. But, is that a plus or minus in that the side angle of the flap kind of mimics the banding of the dress? Or maybe it doesn't even come into the equation.

I like the Seychelles or the Sam Edelman's. I kind of wonder about the height and shape of the shaft on the Cobb Hills. To me, they look like the kind of boots to be worn under jeans.

  • Angie replied 11 years ago

I like the Cobbs the least because they are the least versatile - to Ana's point.

I like the Sam Edelman's - a bit of a Western influence. I also like the Sam Edelman Petty, but unfortunately it doesn't come in red:

You are a wise bunch of ladies - I'm STRONGLY leaning towards the Seychelles. I love the height, the heel shape and colour, the almost vintage hue of the red, the flap, and the fact that they lace up which suggests I can get a reasonably tight fit around the ankle.

So how about we take the Cobb's out of the equation and make it between the Seychelles and the Sam Edelman's - which one???

  • JAileen replied 11 years ago

Oh wait, have you seen these?

Sorry JAileen - the link doesn't work for me. Can you post a pic instead?

  • JAileen replied 11 years ago

I'm trying the link again (slightly different, actually). I can't seem to upload pics from my ipad. Hope this works!

That time worked - thanks! Those are fab looking - oh no....

  • rae replied 11 years ago

    I vote Sam Edelman!

  • annagybe replied 11 years ago

    Also vote Sam Edelman's.

  • Transcona Shannon replied 11 years ago

Been looking again and I think those of you who have voted for the Sam Edelman may be on to something here - the colour is rich but not too red, you know? and I don't have any booties in this style (a bit more western looking) Maybe the lace up Seychelles are TOO similar to my Docs? Plus I could tuck skinnies into the Edelman's easily. Plus we already know from Angie's clients that they are comfy. Getting closer...

Edelmans -- for the selfish, evil reason that if you get the Edelmans, I can get the Seychelles in black without feeling like a copycat. ;)

  • Diana replied 11 years ago

Seychelles! They push all my buttons, I love them so much.

Just to complicate things... I spent a long time a couple of days ago trying to figure out if this "grenadine" color is actually just the same red photographed differently, or if modcloth somehow has an exclusive color. If it really is this dark burgundy color, then it's perfect!

  • Transcona Shannon replied 11 years ago

Oh Diana - must you torture me (lol)?

    Yep, those are gorgeous alright.

Here's another question to complicate matters: once I get back my tomato red Gap blazer from Wonder Woman, I will want to wear it over the Bailey 44 dress as one of my topper options. Does the red of the blazer need to match the red of the booties? Would it look weird if the blazer is a true red but the booties are more dark red/grenadine???

    How's about these cuties:

I'm a little late to the party, but thought I'd throw in my 2 cents...I vote the SAMs. I like the simpler style, but that's me. I'm not an expert on your color question, but I'm thinking it might almost look a little better and not so matchy matchy if the reds were slightly different, can't wait to see you post pictures in your new boots!

  • Transcona Shannon replied 11 years ago

Thank you all so much for your input. I've gone ahead and ordered the Sam Edelman Lisle booties in red. They not only had the most votes here, but are an Angie recommended item (that alone carries alot of weight!) and I think will be the most versatile. Plus they are a slightly different style for me and I'm looking forward to trying something new.

I ended up ordering them from Amazon - the price is the same as that listed by Nordstrom but the shipping is significantly less.
