WIW: Yellow, grey, cream & denim (ETA quick change made - pic now added)

This is perhaps the worst set of pics I've taken of myself in some time...however, I didn't have time to re-take them so you'll have to imagine that the outfit does look somewhat better IRL than I've shown you here.

This outfit is inspired by Sveta, who has worn her yellow Academy blazer in so many wonderful ways. I've paired this bright yellow blazer with a soft grey knit sleeveless top, which is semi-tucked into my denim BF jeans. I've added my snakeskin belt for some pattern and visual interest. My footwear are the bone oxfords again and handbag, my cream satchel.

I think this works, but I'm not entirely sure. What do you think? As always, all comments/suggestions are welcome.

Blazer: Gap
Top: Sears
Belt: Olsen Europe (thrifted)
Jeans: Canyon River Blues
Shoes: Dolce Vita
Handbag: Danier Leather

ETA: You're all brilliant! Although I don't mind the lack of tapering in these BF jeans and have worn them successfully in previous outfits, I don't think they work here. So I quickly changed the jeans to my grey sized up skinnies and rolled them like BF's (they are the exact same jeans as the white BF's I wore yesterday). They fit much better and are nicely tapered on the leg. Perfect! Will try and get a pic later.

Added the new pic (#4) with the grey jeans - quick snap from my office. Better?

I think it works! I would like to see a bit more taper on your BF jeans, but the yellow, grey, and denim look great together. The belt is good with it too, and those oxfords were a good purchase!

I second the tapering of the pant legs.

  • Lantana replied 10 years ago

I'd also taper the legs but that aside I really like the styling here.

Love the yellow and white!  Looking forward to seeing the updated photo.

It sounds like you have it sorted out. Love the yellow blazer with grey!

Fantastic combination, do you have a pair of skinny jeans? I think it'll pull it all together to perfection!

Fast work and great idea - looks good but think it might be even better with the other jeans. Will look for a picture later.

From a soft, sleeveless, semi-tucked top to an added snakeskin belt your descriptions of daily WIW's are a joy to read. I can visualize it all in my mind's eye without seeing the pictures, but oh how I do enjoy your posts :)

Love the styling too and agree about the jeans. Look forward to seeing extra pic.

You look terrific, Shannon, and I'll bet the grey jeans made it even more Sveta-like!

Thanks everyone - I do love the color combo of the grey with yellow and now like it even more with the grey jeans. I've added the pic of the revised outfit - I think it's better, yes?

I think both outfits look good, but like the second iteration better.  The narrower hems seems to balance out the top half of the outfit better.

  • replied 10 years ago

Yes, in this case, I think the narrower leg works better! Good save!

KILLER. Fresh, simple, and my Summer uniform.

The pics aren't bad at all :)

I'll be wearing a very similar formula today. But with pumps and a shirt.

  • replied 10 years ago

Just saw the pic, yes I think it works better :)

  • Ornella replied 10 years ago

Fresh and fun and I'm glad there was an 'upgrade' to this which made things even better for you.

  • Ornella replied 10 years ago

Cool, now I see the new photo.

    *waving to Christine* ;-)

Hello, Sunshine!  I love this summertime look of brights and denim and I wore something very similar yesterday sans the blazer (couldn't figure out which one was needed with my cobalt blue shirt).

Your photos look great, and as you know, I'm smitten by the close-up of the accessories.

Lovely outfit, the yellow blazer is so fun.
