WIW: Yellow & Dark Denim

I'm uncrating and then crating large medical equipment today that we are evaluating so need to wear something comfortable, not too hot and then can be presentable in the office afterwards.

I started out the outfit with my dark denim pencil skirt. Dressier denim pencil skirts are an item that is allowed any day of the week in our office - in fact even my boss wears hers from time to time. With that I paired my multi coloured abstract print tank and then added my yellow Academy blazer on top of that (you probably can't tell but there is yellow in the tank top).

For accessories I chose my oh so comfy gold metallic flats and LBB for my handbag.

While working with the equipment I will take the blazer off and then can put it back on when I get to the office.

Do you think this works for the day's activities? Does the blazer work with the tank? I originally had on my white denim jacket on top but felt an actual blazer dressed up the skirt a bit better. As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

Blazer: Gap
Tank: Cleo Petite
Skirt: Revolutions (thrifted)
Shoes: Enzo Angiolini
Handbag: Danier Leather

P.S. Gain says "good meowrning" :)

This looks both comfortable for the activities and professional.  Love the yellow blazer with this look.

Awww, Gain is so cute!!  And he looks so fuzzy and happy!

You look ready to crate and uncrate!  Love the yellow with the dark denim, so fab!

I think it looks great, and a white denim jacket would also work but to me the yellow makes it a bit more modern/fashion-y, vs. classic. Looks great. Love the shoes and they do look super-comfy.

This looks terrific. I think you're right that the yellow blazer dresses it up a bit more than denim would have done.

    Max says hi to Gain....

The yellow blazer looks great here! The gold shoes and yellow mix feels unexpected and fresh. Great versitile idea with the blazer and denim skirt!

I love that blazer! If you can move well in pencils, I think the outfit is a go!

I think it was a good choice to pick the blazer over the denim. You look summery but still able to get stuff done!

I think the blazer was a better choice than the denim jacket since it's a little dressier.  I like the bright colors in your top and blazer.

Agreed, the blazer is a fab choice for the denim skirt. I think your outfit is spot on Shannon. I love all the fresh colours. And meow to Gains!

I think our yelow blazer works beautifully here. I am so glad to see it in action again!

Oh Shannon, you brought a huge smile to my face with this bright happy outfit. I'd know this was you anywhere!

Well the outfit turned out to the perfect combination - I spent the better part of two hours without the blazer on, uncrating large infant radiant warmers, wheeling them up to our conference room and helping the vendor reps set up for the evaluations with our obstetricians. Then I wheeled them back to the loading dock (which is across the street hence the comfy shoes) and crated them up again to be sent to the next site for evaluation.

Now that I'm back in my office in the freezing A/C trying to wolf down my lunch, I've popped the blazer back on for warmth.

    Layering is my friend :)

Suz - Gain says "thanks" to Max.

Rae - no problem moving around in a pencil skirt as the warmers are tall and no bending required.

Sveta - love "our" blazer but for some reason, find it a wee bit difficult to style. I don't know if it's the color or the blazer style itself.

    Una - :)

Thanks all for your comments and for the validation that the blazer was a better choice than the white denim jacket.

The blazer was the right choice!  I think you might also have a silver or gray top that could layer under this, but I think your patterned top is lovely, too.

Love me a good denim pencil skirt.  Mine has a weird fit that gets all bunchy in the waist --- need to fix that!

I can see the yellow in the tank! Uncrating and crating heavy medical equipment has never looked as graceful, pulled together, stylish and chic :)

    'Pur'fect!

What Angie said! Do they know how lucky they are to have you? Stylish AND willing to do the not so fun jobs:)

  • Jaime replied 10 years ago

Great outfit for the job and also keeping the spirits up! I know you lifted my spirits just looking at your smiling face and bright colors!

I have about zillion tabs opened from yesterday that I'm only getting around to check them now...

I wanted to say I love this one very much. It's playful (all that colors and flowers), it's vibrant (yellow), still grounded perfectly ('nude' shoes) and it's ladylike (that bag!).
