WIW: With Sensible Shoes

Thanks to my foot issues http://youlookfab.com/welookfa.....oes-update today's outfit started with sensible shoes - the one pair of Naot shoes I own. Now how does a gal try to add a little edge and her own style aesthetic to a pair of sensible shoes???

So the outfit started with my Naot Mary-Jane pumps which are a sort of gunmetal colour. Thanks to the glorious warm Spring weather, I have swapped out my tights for nude micro fishnets. Then I chose my animal print pencil skirt and added a simple white tee that has a bit of drape to it. On top of that to tie in the darker shoes and add a bit of urban edge, I added my black leather blazer and scrunched the sleeves.

Black patent clutch, taupe and silver wrap watch, silver wedding ring, red specs and a swipe of berry lipstick finish off the outfit.

So…did I manage to still show a bit of my style even though the footwear isn't edgy or funky? It's going to be a bit of a challenge to keep my feet supported and comfortable and still maintain my style - footwear has always been a key component in my outfits. Thoughts and comments welcome :)

I think you got it Shannon! I don't think the shoes look *too* sensible. I think the blazer and skirt amp things up.

Wow! I don't think you have to worry about not having edge or style. 1) I love your ensemble. 2) You look gorgeous. 3) I adore your shoes, colour and style.

I covet many of the shoes here. You might already be familiar with it.

    Best wishes.

I love the tee and leather jacket combination! Works great with the skirt. I am not going to say the shoes add - I don't think either of us would choose them all things being equal - but they certainly don't kill this otherwise fab outfit. Foot comfort is absolutely essential. Walking around with a limp and a grimace on your face is never fab.

I actually really like those shoes :)

What Shevia said!! It's a fantastic spring outfit on you.

  • AM replied 9 years ago

Yes. Shevia said it perfectly. T and leather jacket. So sweet. You look FAB.

Shevia - that's it exactly! The shoes do NOT add to the outfit - but I guess as long as they don't take away from it either...what's a gal to do? :)  I am digging the tee and leather jacket together though.

    Thanks all :)

Agree with Shevia :-) ... the tee, animal print and leather jacket add plenty edge to the entire outfit . Happy feet means happy day :-)

I think the print on the skirt and the leather jacket are edgy and modern.  I don't think the shoes look particularly sensible.  I think of sensible shoes as being athletic shoes or those white nursing shoes.  Yours are still cool and interesting.

You look all ready for spring. The blazer and skirt are especially lovely!

A hundred thumbs up. You are going like a Boeing.

I like those shoes a lot. They look fun AND comfortable. I am just past the days when I will wear shoes that aren't comfortable, even for a little while. :)

    Perfect ensemble!

You look excellent today!  (and every other day ) This totally works - your hair is fantastic right now, combined with the leather, and the t-shirt ....the whole outfit reads modern and funky and not frumped out at all.   You know what makes it for me?  The t-shirt.  If it were a blouse or a less rate top - the effect would be different. Note to self to stock up on casual white t's.

Thanks for showing how it's done! Great outfit, Shannon, and I really like those shoes! They are arty, and you've given the look a bit of edge with the animal print and leather. You are so creative.

  • Joy replied 9 years ago

You did a great job of styling to camouflage the shoes ( although I rather like them with their heel and metallic gleam). The skirt, tee and fabulous leather blazer steal the show.

I think no outfit involving THAT Danier jacket and animal print skirt can be anything but cool and stylish! The metallic color of the shoes keeps them from being "too sensible" I think :-)

Fab. You make no sacrifices for style here.

Mary Janes seem to be back. You're in the swing of things!

Love your white tee and sensible shoes outfit!!!! Hope your new naots(and the sandals you are pondering about) will fit and serve you as well, as any other older not so sensible shoe, you have. Will keep an eye on your shoe choices, as my feet are getting more fussy, too:-(.

  • Karie replied 9 years ago

Those shoes go very nicely with your outfit. I wish my sensible shoes looked that good!

  • Gigi replied 9 years ago

I am seriously crushing on those shoes! I need to get a pair of comfortable walking shoes to replace my current ones, which are wearing out. Maybe I will check these out...

As for your outfit, it is stunningly fab. I think it is plenty edgy; there is no "sensible" vibe to me. Pure fashion all the way!
