WIW: White leather & checks

Good morning my lovely Fabbers :)

Today's outfit shows another pair of fluid trousers - a pair of small charcoal and white checked bootcut/wide legged trousers I picked up in late August for fall. I love the drape on these and think they will be versatile as well as a bit more interesting than just plain black.

I paired my asymmetrical front-ruched tank with the trousers and popped on my white leather jacket over top. LOVE THIS JACKET!!! (sorry for shouting).

Wearing my Ara patent booties again (these have already earned their keep no problem) and am using my red/animal print clutch for a pop of colour and pattern. A swipe of red lipstick and I'm ready to go.

I originally had on my red Gap blazer and was NOT feeling any love for it and am so glad I switched to my white leather jacket. I'm digging the neutral palette (apart from the lipstick and clutch) and find this jacket more modern. I might be posting a Keep/Purge thread later today with a few of my blazers that I'm feeling may be a bit dated.

Anyway, over to you…what do you think of today's outfit? Fit and colour palette work? How are the proportions? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

Leather jacket: Danier Leather
Tank and trousers: Cleo Petite
Boots: Ara
Clutch: Material Girl

I think this is absolutely perfect, Shannon! I love the texture and subtle print of the trousers, adore the subtle colour palette, and your leather jacket looks so stunning with this look. Modern, chic and very fun with the animal print clutch.

Beautiful! You may have inspired my outfit for work tomorrow:). This is so streamlined, modern and elegant. Faint worthy!

  • Runcarla replied 10 years ago

    Love this, Shannon! Tres chic.

I think it all works beautifully! I SO understand the pull of neutrals, I was feeling the same last winter...

    Beautiful trousers. YLF!

  • Suz replied 10 years ago

Looks fantastic to me, and that white jacket was worth the PPP and pain of the search!

    Beautiful, Shannon!

    Love this look on you!!

Amazing fab!  The white lights up your face, and the texture in the trousers is subtle, but adds so much interest.  This fluid fit loves you!

I LOVE MY WHITE LEATHER JACKET TOO!

This looks awesome on you Shannon.  And those boots!  Where did you find them?  Might be time for another Shannon copy :).  I think it might be ramped up a notch with some jewellery or scarf at your neck, it appears just a smidge bare there.  To me.

What a wonderful outfit, and the white jacket is the yummy icing on the cake. (Can you tell I've not had breakfast yet?;)
How do you keep the jacket clean at the neck without protecting it from skin oils with a scarf or high collar?

  • Transcona Shannon replied 10 years ago

Inge - don't we love our white leather jackets? :)

Deborah - I look forward to seeing your outfit.

Suz - this jacket was probably my first real demonstration of the PPP principle. Despite how frustrating it was and how many try-ons and returns were made, I'm so incredibly glad YLF kept me on the right track and I ended up with my perfect white leather jacket.

Elizabeth - I totally understand that some may find this look a bit minimal. I'm kind of off scarves and jewelry these days but I'm sure at some point, I'll be wanting to add them again.

Joy - I spray all my leather jackets with Danier Leather Defense spray, which helps to repel body oils, dirt, etc. I spray the entire outside of the jacket with the spray and also the inside of the neck on the leather (not the cotton lining obviously). These seems to be enough to keep the neck clean. Believe me, that was one of my major concerns about getting a white leather jacket.

Thank you everyone for your lovely comments :)

That jacket is great on you, I especially love the neckline with your short hair.  You always look so well put together!

So, with the clutch, do you also carry a larger work bag, or do you just not have the type of job where you need to haul STUFF?  I wish I could even carry a regular sized purse, but I find myself with large bags daily.

  • Neel replied 10 years ago

That white leather jacket is the star!!!   No wonder you love it!  And paired with your red clutch you have got a lovely classy yet trendy look!  Brilliant!

Von - all I carry each day is my purse and a lunch bag. I actually don't like to carry too much stuff and after having a shoulder injury years ago from a horse kick, I stopped carrying large shoulder bags altogether. All I carry in my purse/clutch is my wallet, cell phone, keys, lipstick and a small mirror. Easy peasy.

    Waiving at my jacket twin.
You look amazing in this look. I find a bit difficult to wear my white jacket in fall but you have been doing some great looks with it.

  • AJ replied 10 years ago

Simple yet sophisticated. The column of color makes you look tall and sleek. The clutch adds the right pizzazz.

  • t replied 10 years ago

    This outfit is perfection!

  • Joy replied 10 years ago

That leather defense spray sounds like magic. I wonder if anyone knows of anything here that works as well. I just wasn't aware of it.

    Looks awesome!

  • Parsley replied 10 years ago

I love everything about this outfit, Shannon, and would copy it in a heartbeat!
You look sleek, elegant and gorgeous!

  • carambola replied 10 years ago

That jacket is amazing on you. You wear black and white like nobody's business with your gorgeous salt and pepper hair. And the red + leopard clutch adds the perfect punch.

  • citygirldc replied 10 years ago

Absolutely gorgeous outfit. Now I want a white leather jacket. :)

  • Jaime replied 10 years ago

I want a white jacket too! I want this whole outfit. Shannon, this is one of my favorites of yours! (Of course that list is quite long.)

  • Thistle replied 10 years ago

    You look terrific!

  • Susie replied 10 years ago

I want a white jacket too! Your patience definitely paid off because this one is fab. I have pants in a similar check and I agree that they add quite a bit of interest vs plain black pants. And I love the pop of color the clutch adds. I've been using my clutches a lot lately too.

  • KikiG replied 10 years ago

Home run. Awesome outfit, and figure flattery, as a bonus. And now ***I*** badly want a fantastic white leather jacket. That jacket makes you look very tiny, and hits you at your perfect sweet spot--I'd love to see you style it with jeans, too!

  • TraceyLiz65 replied 10 years ago

Glad you showed the close up of the pant print as it makes all the difference in showing how fabulous the outfit is!

  • Mo replied 10 years ago

I LOVE your jacket too!  :)  Makes me excited to get my white moto out for a test drive soon.
You are looking more fab every post, I swear.

  • Amy replied 10 years ago

    Love this on you, Shannon.

I think I have lost my love for my red Gap jacket too. It's just too...something.

  • Transcona Shannon replied 10 years ago

My goodness - thank you all so much. I see we have a LOT of white leather jacket lovers on YLF! I actually was concerned about how much I would wear this jacket but it has turned out to be much more versatile than I originally thought.

    Amy - exactly...just too something...

Late to the party, but Danier leather never disappoints.  This looks gorgeous, Shannon!  Wish I had budgeted for popping into the Danier outlet in Niagara Falls last week.  Seriously great stuff!

  • Debra replied 10 years ago

    Very very cool :)

  • Inge replied 10 years ago

Oh yesss!! I am in love with my leather jacket too, Shannon. It's proven to be so incredibly versatile, it really looks fab with practically everything else in my wardrobe. SO happy I bought it (and that you sweet fabbers helped me get it to Belgium).
