WIW: White, dark olive & touches of tan

Today's outfit started with my dark olive cargo pants, rolled BF style. It drives me crazy how these pants photograph black when they really are dark olive green. Oh well...you'll just have to trust me in this one!

I paired the trousers with my ivory silk EF tee. This is quickly becoming a wardrobe favourite - I like it with skirts and jeans equally and seems to be one of those magical items that works with everything.

Then for my office A/C, I've topped that with my crisp white blazer. This is the first time I've reached for this blazer this year and I'm wondering why that is - particularly since it was a fave last spring/summer. Any thoughts ladies?

I rounded out the outfit with a tan belt, my nude peep toes, and my tan/olive snakeskin handbag. Was thinking cognac would have worked very well too but I don't have any cognac footwear...

So thoughts/comments/suggestions on this combination?

This looks great and I can see the dark olive. A cognac bag would have also worked - am I imagining you have one?

It looks great to me. The patterned bag seems to tie it all together. I can't see anything amiss with the jacket - is it a comfort issue do you think? Sometimes a structured piece can feel a bit tight even when it isn't.

Shannon...we are such twins for wardrobing!!

Yesterday, I wore an olive linen skirt (J Crew), and an EF Silk blouse in ivory...my nude EF sandals, and I changed out my black watchband to the new tan/ivory lizardskin  one I just received from the NAS.

You look fabulous in your outfit...the proportions are great and I love the cuffed pants with those shoes!!

Another twin here.  Yesterday I wore white bermudas with a cobalt top and today I am wearing dark olive cargos rolled at the ankle.  Must be something in the air.

I think your outfit looks great.  I love the texture and detail of the bag.  It has never occurred to me until now that you wear high contrast outfits very well.

Could the lack of love for the jacket this season be linked to a move from more tailored structured pieces to more fluid and draped items?

Shevia - I have my cognac faux leather backpack. I could use that and book end with my cognac leather belt!

missvee & Cheryle - I do think part of my discomfort (emotional not physical) with the jacket is related to my slight move toward more fluid pieces. That being said, I do like how a structured jacket gives me a better shoulder line and a hint of a waist...

dakotacheryl - that's just too funny!

The outfit looks great. The white jacket is really nice. I really like the snakeskin with it.

Oh, I do like all the lovely, creamy, tan neutrals used in your gorgeous outfit. That bag is a stunner and as Missvee said, it ties it all together beautifully.

Yes, the furball is an excellent accessory. You look crisp and chic!

Great outfit Shannon. I like the mix between more structured and fluid items that you excel at.
Regarding the blazer, I find that sometimes we wear something so much in a season that we need a break.
    Great accessories, including kitty.

Lovely! Pairing with white is still my favorite way to wear olive, even though I have very little of it right now (olive that is; still have plenty of white ;) ). The nude leathers work very nicely; cognac would also look good, a little earthier.

I have found that I wear jackets less overall period in summer in favor of looser fluid fits; however every time I do wear them I feel the same as you, remembering how nicely they add some structure and emphasize the shoulders. Luckily this summer has been extra warm so I haven't had to think about it much! But I've been headed back to more tailoring and plan to wear my jackets a lot more come fall. I wonder if, for you, you are  enjoying the garment movement you're getting by wearing many EF pieces, which a jacket can somewhat restrict.

(Hello cute kitty flopped over in the back! ^^)

I love white and olive! Isn't it funny that the slacks look so black online. You look crisp and cool.

    Hello, Kitty!

Love the silhouette, and the juxtaposition between crisp blazer and soft silk under layer must be lovely close up!

I sometimes just need variety, and put items aside for awhile.  I rotate my jewels, too.  The ruby tiara is so 2005.

You look stunning! I absolutely love that bag too.....i wish I could play with your bag collection! I love them all!

Snakeskin print bags and sandals are a HUGE hit this season. I am seeing them EVERYWHERE

Gorgeous base outfit, makes me wish I have a white blazer to copy. Fab bag and I'm already going crazy from thinking about all other bag options that would showcase beautifully how swapping one key item changes the mood of the outfit.

WOW!!! LOVE THIS white&olive outfit, as much I love a bl&w one(but I can see it's olive!!:-)). IMO the tan shoes are perfect here, cognac would have been little more autumnal to me!
