WIW: Turquoise, orange and white lace (ETA turquoise skirt disaster)

Today's outfit offering starts with my turquoise pencil midi skirt paired with my white lace sweater. I've added my orange leather handbag for a completely different bright pop of colour and my first outing of my orange leather Aerosole sandals that I bought a couple of weeks ago. A simple silver bangle and wedding ring is all for jewelry.

Pairing orange with turquoise is quite different for me but I really like it.

What do you think? Does this outfit work? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

Sweater: Laura Petites (thrifted)
Skirt: Liz Claiborne (thrifted)
Sandals: Aerosole
Handbag: Danier Leather (thrifted)

Bonus pic of Gain as I'm doing orange accessories today!

ETA: I always make a cup of coffee to take in the car on the way to work and was sure I had pressed down the lid on my "to go" mug until it clicked but apparently not - because as I took a sip heading to my back door the lid came right off and a good half of the mug found itself on my turquoise skirt. Luckily I didn't burn myself and the lace sweater is fine but I suspect the skirt is finished. So I quickly had to grab my charcoal grey pencil skirt and go with that. It looks ok, but the turquoise was better.

Good morning (tho it's evening here) my stylish friend! This is a littlendifferent for you and I like it:). The turquoise and white is a very crisp and fresh look and the orange kind of brings it to life. I might be inclined to layer a camisole under the top as I can see through it in the pic (it may be the flash). Otherwise I wouldn't change a thing. I like the simplicity of this and this color combination really makes me smile. Have a lovely day.

I love this! Turquoise and orange = one of my favorite combos. You look so fresh and summery.

    And hello, handsome kitty boy!

  • marianna replied 11 years ago

Oh I love that lace sweater with the skirt! So pretty!

This is another spectacular outfit. I love the turquoise skirt with the orange accessories. Gain looks like a lion and I am not messing with him.

  • ruthe replied 11 years ago

No suggestions, only comments. You look so good and you have a smile to die for! I like that small layer of cork in your sandals. Seeing Gain's picture, I'm convinced his twin brother is living with us. We call him Kramer because his hair can be just a bit wild. Again, lovely outfit.

    Gorgeous, Shannon!

And Gain is equally gorgeous. Love orange cats madly.

Can you tell me about the fit of those Aerosoles? Esp. the width at the front. I love them! Do they come in other colours?

  • Transcona Shannon replied 11 years ago

Good morning back at ya Suz! I wear a 6 and sometimes 6.5 in Aerosoles - these sandals are a 6. They have the typical Aerosole "spungy" footbed and are incredibly comfortable. Because of the platform the overall angle of the foot is totally manageable despite the 3" wedge. I have a medium width foot and find the width at the front absolutely perfect - in fact, they have a tiny bit of wiggle room. The strap hits my foot sort of between my big toe and ball joint, so no rubbing. They also hit my baby toe in the right spot so no rubbing there. I'm not sure about other colours as I bought these at Winner's and they were the only pair. But you could check the Aerosoles website and see. I've ordered directly from their website and had good results.

Shevia - you could mess with Gain all you like! He's a big baby and loves everybody. He's quite convinced that he was put on this earth to have his belly rubbed by everyone who walks by!

Thanks lyn, Deborah, Deedee, Alicat, Marianna and Ruthe!

oh no, Shannon! Surely a bit of enzymatic detergent followed by sunshine should rescue the skirt? What's the fabric?

I do, do hope it can be sorted out --- because this is a STELLAR outfit! The orange and red are so fantastic with that bright clear turquoise, and the white lace blouse would also go beautifully with your Poetic Licence green shoes...

  • Transcona Shannon replied 11 years ago

Manidipa - I hope so too! The fabric is a cotton sateen, fully lined, dry clean only (although I have hand washed it before). I rinsed it very quickly before I left the house and will get to work on it this evening and see what can be done.

  • Janet replied 11 years ago

Oh, I hope you can save the skirt, because it is a beautiful color and looks great on you! Love the whole outfit, and turquoise and orange together are terrific.

  • KikiG replied 11 years ago

I have found Oxi-clean to be most helpful with coffee stains!

I think the outfit is incredibly flattering! That lace top is magic--I'd love to see you put it with some more things. Bummer that it is thrifted--I'd go buy me one in a heartbeat if it were available at retail!

  • rae replied 11 years ago

Oh your poor skirt! Lighting a candle for it... :(

It was a FAB outfit while it lasted, and I'm sure the orange shoes still give a fun pop with the gray skirt. I think I missed when you got those shoes but they are TDF.

  • Transcona Shannon replied 11 years ago

Rae - too funny! A candelight vigil for my skirt! Actually I never posted about these sandals. My local Winner's occasionally carries Aerosole footwear and when they do, I BBQ. Aerosoles fit me fabulously and are always so darned comfortable. I grabbed them and never bothered with a Keep/Return post because I knew it was just KEEP!

    Thanks Janet and Kiki!

Kiki - I couldn't believe it when I saw this lace top in a thrift store in pristine condition! White is usually not something that is good via thrift.

Does it work?? Does it ever work. Shannon this is one of my favorites for you. The white lace skirt is so pretty and the turquoise with orange is one of my favorites combinations this year. I love the whole thing.

Try using oxyclean to removed the stain from the skirt. It would be a shame to lose that one as it fits so nicely and the color is lovely on you.

I have managed to snag aerosoles at Winners a few times too. They seem to be quite well made and easy to wear. The orange looks great and should work well for you.

  • Angie replied 11 years ago

    Hello, Gain :)

Sorry to hear about your skirt :(. I hope that it can be saved because this outfit is a 10!

  • Nadya replied 11 years ago

I love this outfit! I will cross my fingers you can save your skirt. My blue dress turned out fine after a bit of stain stick and a spin on "heavy soil" in my washer. That's a good omen, right?

Orange cats go with everything! What a handsome fellow.

  • modgrl replied 11 years ago

Oh no! Hope it can be saved!! The whole outfit is so cute!

Launder it in Oxy, that stuff is miraculous.

  • christieanne replied 11 years ago

I think with the rinsing quickly, it should be ok - I hope because your outfit was a fantastic summer look. That lace shirt is amazing find - really a fun piece. Brilliant stroke of luck to find at any price :)
    KItty is too adorable!

  • Jem replied 11 years ago

Wow Shannon! This is one of my favorite outfits ever! I'm so sad about your skirt. Hopefully you can save it. The turquoise and orange combination is amazing! I love your new shoes. I never have any luck with shoes at Winners. Your white top is pretty amazing, too!

  • cjh replied 11 years ago

Ohno, bad coffee! But I can usually get coffee out with fast action. I think you'll save the skirt.

Because it's a wonderful outfit - the white top is to die for. LOVE the orange sandals. Good choice. Have a fun day, now that the worst part is over!

  • goldenpig replied 11 years ago

What a cute outfit from head to toe! So sad about the skirt--I hope it can be saved! At least you weren't at work already when the spill happened!

  • Kate replied 11 years ago

Turquoise, white and orange--Shannon, you're dressing like my den! I love these colors and you look fab! Sorry about the turquoise skirt mishap. The Halogen pencil skirt that so many of us own comes in a gorgeous shade of turquoise if you want you replace your skirt. Gain is gorgeous!

  • Kirti replied 11 years ago

Oh no! I hope you can save the skirt! Love the colour :-)

  • Sona replied 11 years ago

another shout out for oxi clean. I loved the original version o this outfit. hoping for a daring " stain master" rescue.

  • Meredith1953 replied 11 years ago

Wow! I love the turquoise with the sharp white lace top and those orange slice accents! The bag and shoes are beautiful! Gain makes a darling accessory! I hope you can save that fab skirt! :(

  • Scarlet replied 11 years ago

This looks so fantastic! I really hope you save your skirt. I am sure you can.

  • City Poodle replied 11 years ago

I winced when I read about the spill. Hope you can save the skirt. Every bit of your outfit, from top to shoes to color mixing, is very pleasing to the eye.

  • Jonesy replied 11 years ago

I love this summery, charming outfit, and I'm crossing my fingers that the laundry gods and goddesses are feeling generous today :).

  • Aida replied 11 years ago

Lovely, the crochet top is so pretty! I do hope you can get the coffee out, this turquoise skirt loves you. FAB sandals!!

    *pets cute kitty's tummy!*

  • Jenava replied 11 years ago

Very cute with all your brights and white! I do hope you can wash the skirt and get the coffee out...I rather think regular washing right away or to the dry cleaners might fix it. I would also add a white cami under the sweater (untucked so it doesn't "grin").
